MR. LOVE SUCKER
"No one ever listens to me in this family." Gabriel sighs as he watches his brother rummage around his study. "Camille's stubbornness as a vampire rivals that of our dear brothers and yet he insists he can convince her to kindly return the one thing on this earth that can kill our family line."
Frowning at the stress marring his face Caroline rubs his back in hope of offering some comfort. Gabriel looks down at her and only manages to give her a pained grimace, quickly looking away from her. Although slightly confused, Caroline assumes he was overwhelmed with everything going on.
"Okay, so what's the plan? Cami's out there with the white oak, and I'm not gonna lose one more person that I care about." Hayley crosses her arms with a matching frown.
Elijah briefly looks between the three and sighs. "Niklaus can handle Camille. 'Til then, I'll keep Aya distracted." He pulls out a wooden scroll out of a desk drawer as Hayley raises a concerned brow. "Why don't you just kill her?"
Elijah looks away in slight confusion as Gabriel snorts. "She and I have history."
Hayley and Caroline give the man a deadpanned expression. "You two had a thing?"
He sighs looking wistful. "Aya was a towering intellect with an insatiable curiosity. Passionate, fearless, and something of an outcast. Long ago, I invited her... to join a rather elite company. I determined she was perfectly tailored to bear the responsibility of an immortal life. I made her like me."
Caroline gapes at him. "She was one of the first Strix! I still can't believe you created a group of super vampires by the way."
Ignoring her latter comment he says, "We cared for one another deeply. Together, we created a fellowship unburdened by the limitations of man. It was the pursuit of a glorious new world. And then Father... Led by that unquenchable desire to slay his children, Mikael descended, accompanied by a small army. He laid to waste everything that I built. So... We had no choice but to run. Aya did not. So, when Tristan found her, he rescued her. She, of course, came to see him as something of a savior. And, in time, beneath his corrupted guidance, they made the Strix what they are today...a hive of depraved and ignorant savages. And she's never forgiven me."
Caroline makes an annoyed face. "If she really loved you she would have went with you, Elijah. She has no right to feel abandoned when she's really the one who left you. If you ask me, you and Klaus have the worst kind of taste in women. Aside from Cami, but I am not sure if I agree with that statement right now."
Elijah's expression becomes one of slight amusement and then falls. "Very kind of you to say, Caroline... But I am not entirely certain I have ever forgiven myself."
Gabriel clears his throat. "How do you expect to keep the woman entertained, Lijah?"
He holds up the scroll. "With a little salt in an old wound." And he leaves the room.
Gabriel scoffs. "Like that explains anything."
Caroline turns toward Gabriel gnawing on her lip. "We still have not had the chance to speak to Davina, Gabriel."
Gabriel sighs. "I know, she's never home and she's been ignoring my messages. The only time I see her is when she's with Lizzie late at night and I never want to disturb them."
"Kol would tell us if she was in trouble right?" Caroline worriedly questions.
"Kol-" Gabriel immediately stops talking and both females look at him in confusion.
"Gabriel?" Hayley questions.
He holds his hand up and marches out of the room, both women rush behind him as he storms into Klaus' study where he is loudly throwing trinkets into a duffle bag.
Knowing the babies were in the next room sleeping Hayley groans. "Hey! Hey! Are you serious with all that noise?"
Klaus scoffs in disbelief. "Oh, I'm sorry. Has my therapist's betrayal inconvenienced your otherwise tranquil day?"
Hayley sighs. "Our daughter has been upset. She's... still dealing with the fact that Jack is gone, and the only thing that calms her is her favorite toy, which Cami stole to get back at you. So, if you wake her up with all this slamming around, so help me, Cami will be the least of your problems."
As the two squabble Caroline's eyes are focussed on Gabriel who's eyebrows were furrowed in concentration and stared at the balcony doors.
"It pains me that Hope is upset. So, I'll add it to the long list of grievances I'm already tallying, hmm?" Klaus sarcastically mutters.
" I know that you're angry at Cami, Klaus, but you know as well as I do that she's not in her right mind." Hayley tries to calm him.
"I beg to differ. Camille seems quite lucid, tucked away behind the barrier spell in the City of the Dead as she-" Gabriel speeds to his brother and slams a hand over his mouth. Klaus' eyes narrow furiously as he harshly pushes his hand away.
"Shut up!" Gabriel roars. Everyone in the room freezes as he closes his own eyes attempting to feel for the magic that disappeared as soon as he slammed into his brother.
"Spit it out, what is it?" Klaus questions his brother knowing something was wrong.
Gabriel opens his eyes showing a bright blue glow. "Magic." He begins pacing the room. "You need to get that bloody oak from the bartender or I will do it myself."
"What do you mean, Magic?" Caroline gently questions him.
"Just now." He spits. "As Klaus and Hayley argue about the bloody bloody white oak I sensed magic. Someone was here, whether it was by the astral plains or a cloaking spell someone was here and rest assured they heard that Camille has it."
Klaus stares at his brother solemnly for a few moments before grabbing the duffle bag and rushing out. Hayley follows to go grab Hope when she hears her whining and Caroline frowns as Gabriel continues pacing. "Gabriel..."
Gabriel roars in anger and throws the nearest thing to him at the wall in anger. The vase shatters as it reaches the wall and Caroline quickly steps forward to place her hands on his heaving chest before he can wreck the entire room. "Calm down, Calm down Gabriel. It's going to be okay.."
She slightly yelps as he suddenly yanks her into his embrace, his breathing is shaky as are his hands as he cups the back of her head forcing her to stay locked into his chest. Caroline relaxes her body and melts into his touch, enjoying the small moment of peace.
She doesn't notice his eyes turn red rimmed and his eyes beginning to glow with veins popping from his under eyes.
Gabriel grunts as he suddenly feels like someone had reached into his chest and taken a hold of his heart.
"Brother?" Klaus pauses in his steps and looks toward him in confusion.
Gabriel slightly stumbles and Klaus' eyes widen as he's quick to come to his aid and holds him up right. No longer being able to hold himself up he painfully groans as he collapses to his knees.
"What the hell is happening?" Hayley panics as he claws at his chest.
Making eye contact with her she can practically see the heartbreak clouding his eyes. "Caroline."
Coming back to reality Gabriel harshly blinks, only now noticing Hayley was in the doorway suspiciously watching as he tried to act as normal as possible and continued to rub Carolines back.
