MR. CHAMBRE DE CHASSE

Gabriel wakes up to the most beautiful sight.

Caroline was laying against the headboard, clad in one of his shirts hanging loosely from her shoulder, with her knees holding their daughter up.

"You should have woken me up." Gabriel softly tells her with a kiss to her cheek as he joins her against the headboard. "Though, I could certainly get used to waking up to this sight."

Caroline smiles as she continues to gaze at their daughter. "You looked so peaceful. I couldn't find it in me to wake you up after how much you've been dealing with."

Elizabeth cooes in her dads direction and Gabriel's smile widens. "I think someone misses her dad." Caroline gently hands her over.

Gabriel copies Carolines previous position and runs his finger over the little girls cheek. He sighs happily. "I never thought something so tiny could bring me so much peace."

"I get it." Caroline lays her head against his shoulder. "I never thought I would be able to have this. After Katherine turned me... I figured that was it."

"I'll always protect you two." Gabriel vows. "No matter what, I won't let anyone take you two from me."

"We know, Gabriel. We know." Caroline smiles.

"What's going on?" Gabriel questions as he and his family walk into the Mikaelson compound. Freya was worriedly pacing and Elijah was clenching his jaw like no tomorrow. "Where have you been?" Freya glares at him.

"Woah." He throws his hands up in defense. "Did I miss something?"

Caroline smacks herself in the forehead. "Oh my god."

Gabriel looks down at her confusedly as her face turns sheepish. "In my defense I was distracted!"

"The Strix have stolen Jackson's heart. It was the last ingredient to breaking the sire lines." Elijah quickly tells him.

Gabriel looks down at Caroline with wide eyes. "Ok! When we left yesterday I knew they were looking for an unsired heart not that they had taken Jackson's."

"And we just found out that our sister has indeed not been vacationing around Europe." Freya says with accusing eyes toward Elijah who looks guilty.

Gabriel's eyes automatically narrow at the mention of their sister. "Speak."

"She sacrificed herself in order to protect us. And, to protect her, I've told Niklaus, and I'm telling you. No one would have known Rebekah's whereabouts if Aurora had taken my life. She is daggered, by her own request. It was especially made clear to me not to tell Gabriel."

Gabriel clicks his tongue in annoyance. "Has no one ever learned, in a thousand years, that not telling Gabriel things never turns out well?"

"The prophecy says you four will be felled by friend, family, love, and foe. Rebekah was fallen by family. That leaves friend, love,  and foe. You and Klaus have a lot of foes." Freya sighs, stressed.

"Just one or two." Elijah sarcastically says.

"Thankfully, not many friends." Gabriel jokes. Everyone looks to the entry way as Klaus and Stefan Salvatore enter. "Oh, what the bloody hell."

"Freya, this is Stefan Salvatore, an old friend." Klaus tells her as Caroline rushes to give him a hug. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Took the words right from my mouth." Gabriel mutters in annoyance. The look of distaste he gives as the two hug is not lost on any of his siblings.

"One of my trickle-down sirelings. Long story." Klaus waives his sisters stern look off. "Stefan, this is Freya, my brand-new older sister. Also a long story."

Stefan nods and weakly smiles at Freya. "Stefan needs a favor. And since Gabriel's magic is on the fritz, you're our solution."

Freya eyes him up and down. "You're an old "friend," are you?"

"Well... That kind of depends on your definition." Stefan nervously tells her.

"He is my friend and Bonnie's friend as well." Caroline tells her which makes the witch soften only slightly.

They find themselves in the upstairs living room as Elijah and Klaus speak in the other room, Gabriel refusing to leave Lizzie and Carolines side.

Freya is unbuttoning Stefan's shirt to exam the X shaped wound on his chest from Rayna's swore. Gabriel covers Caroline and Lizzie's eyes. "Freya!"

Caroline groans and smacks his hands away. "Really, Gabriel?"

Freya only gives him narrowed eyes as if silently telling him to shut up. Gabriel scoffs but takes Lizzie in his arms to face her away from the man.

"So, um, just full disclosure... I dated your sister once." Stefan tells Freya who chuckles. "Oh. While that seems like a great story, let's get back to your wound. A mystical vampire huntress stabbed you with her magic sword."

"Why couldn't Bonnie help you?" Caroline curiously asks the vampire who's eyes snap to her own, missing Gabriel's slight wince.

"Um... Because she's here?" Stefan slowly tells her.

"No." Caroline scoffs. "She went back to Mystic Falls days ago."

"Must've missed her." Stefan shrugs.

Caroline turns to Gabriel who looks around the room pretending as if he didn't see her eyes searching for his own.

"Klaus killed her..." Freya clears her throat, bringing back to the topic at hand. "But, surprise, surprise...She regenerates."

"Right. So, no matter how far I run, this wound acts as a beacon, drawing her to me. So, I guess you could say it's been a bit of a rough week." Stefan sighs as Freya rubs a paste over the bleeding wound.

"Well, I can't cure the wound, but this paste will mask its signal. Just let that dry, and you'll be on your merry way." Freya tells him.

Stefan looks to Caroline and Gabriel. "You know, not that I was expecting a, uh, parade or anything, but why is everyone so eager for me to go?"

Caroline gives him a sympathetic smile. "Would it make you feel better if I told you it's actually probably more dangerous here than Mystic Falls right now?"

He glances between her and Lizzie. "Uh, no. Not really."

"What's troubling the Mikaelsons? Oh, let's see. There's Elijah's super-secret society of ancient vampires...One of their more zealous members, an old flame of Elijah's, is trying to undo my mother's most powerful spell..." Freya lists just as Elijah and Klaus appear in the room looking at Gabriel.

"The Crescent wolves... They found Aurora." Elijah tells him.

Gabriel sighs looking between Caroline and Lizzie as she stands to take the baby knowing he needed to go. "Be safe." Caroline tells him worriedly.

"Always am." He pauses when she gives him a stern look. "I will be. I love you, don't get into too much trouble."

She gives him a chaste kiss on the lips watching as he goes with a sigh.

The three Mikaelson brothers approach Aya and two members of the Strix as they shove her body into the back of an SUV. Aya looks unsurprised by their presence. "Hello, gentlemen."

Klaus smirks. "I had planned on taking a different head tonight, but yours will do just fine."

With out blinking she pulls out a familiar revolver filled with what Gabriel could assume was the white oak bullet and aims it at him.

"I am getting so tired of having that vile weapon pointed at me." Klaus angrily spits.

She shrugs and aims it at Elijah instead. "Creator destroyed by his own creation. I suppose there's a certain poetry to that, wouldn't you say, brothers? Shoot me, and you die."

"True. For now." Aya smirks as a witch suddenly appears and begins chanting. "Lo cosu om a din la chambre. Lo cusu om a din la chambre."

Gabriel freezes as his muscles seize up and he shakes in pain. He falls to the ground, noting how his brothers seemed to be in the same predicament before his vision goes black.

When he comes to he loudly groans. "You have got to be kidding me."

"What is this?" Elijah says with a little bit of panic in his voice.

Gabriel pinches the bridge of his nose when a loud giggle is heard behind them.

"Oh, Nik. The funny faces you make when someone surprises you." Aurora's screeching voice is heard.

"So good to see you three again, especially today." Tristian beams.

Finally turning around the one thing that does surprise Gabriel is the sight of the one woman he had forgotten about. "Olivia?"

Olivia pouts. "Forget about me already?"

"How the hell are we here?" Klaus roughly questions.

"Oooh! I know the answer to that one. It's representational magic. Something in this room represents each one of us." Aurora jumps up and down.

"Apparently, it's what allowed Aya's witches to drag you to this chambre de chasse they created for me." Tristian smiles.

Gabriel clicks his tongue. "Perfect. We find what represents us, we break free. I don't need you of all people educating me on a chambre de chasse."

He laughs. "You can certainly try, but until then, my Strix are preparing a spell that is like no other in history. We are going to sever the link which binds your lives to ours."

"Our second rate-Napoleon, desperately trying to leave his mark on the world with those filthy little claws." Elijah scoffs.

Tristian walks as close to Klaus as possible with out touching him. "So, you see... Today, you die. And, with your sirelines torn from you, you die alone."

"Until then, how shall we pass the time?" Aurora questions with a devilish smirk.

As his brothers walk around the room attempting to find the object that represents them keeping Tristian and Aurora entertained, Gabriel corners Olivia. "Why?" He questions.

"Why what?" She innocently questions.

He sighs. "Why are you in on this? The last time we spoke you were willing to spill all of their secrets."

Olivia stays silent for a moment. "Freedom."

"Freedom?" Gabriel confusedly questions her.

"My brother has promised me that if I help, once the sire lines are broken I may be free to leave. No strix, no Tristian, no Aurora. I can live my life."

"And you believe that?" Gabriel questions her again.

Her face falls as she looks to him. "It's the only option I have. I meant it you know? When I said Caroline and Hayley were lucky women to have you. They have a choice in everything they do, because they have you. The rest of us women aren't so lucky to have a knight in shining armor."

Gabriel watches her with a look of sympathy as she walks away to join her siblings. She had always seemed like a free spirit and he could always tell Tristian was the one who kept her shackled.

In the real world, Stefan, Hayley, and Caroline are in the trunk of Marcel's car on their way to the Davilla estate.

"Are we close?" Stefan questions the two. Hayley looks at the GPS. "A few more minutes."

She swipes off of the GPS and he sees her wallpaper. "That's a cute kid."

"Yeah. She is." Hayley softly smiles.

"Is she the reason you're here? I know why you're here." Caroline jabs him with a crooked smile.

"In a trunk with a stranger, going into a fight we may not win? She's not the only reason, but yeah. Maybe I just don't want her to grow up without a father." Hayley hums.

"Hmm. Guess that depends on the father. I could have done without mine. If it weren't for my brother, I probably wouldn't have survived the guy." Stefan tells her, Caroline looks down in thought about the raven haired vampire she hadn't thought about in forever. Her life in Mystic falls seemed years ago.

"You know, I never understood the brotherly bond until I met Klaus, Elijah, and Gabriel. They hurt each other more than anyone, but... They're vicious when it comes to each other." Hayley says meeting Carolines eyes.

Stefan nods his head. "You seem happier." He suddenly says to Caroline.

She nods. "I am. I really am."

"So tell me why you're not shouting at every person you meet that your engaged? The Caroline I knew would have had a it written on his forehead the second after he proposed."

Hayley's eyes snap toward Caroline again, looking for a ring although it's dark in the trunk. Caroline sighs. "It's not that we're trying to hide it... It's just that with all of their lives in danger and everything going on we didn't want to make a big deal about it yet."

"I'm happy for you Caroline." Stefan smiles. "I always knew it was Gabriel. From the first day he saw you..."

Caroline laughs. "I didn't."

"Should I be expecting an invite in the mail?" Stefan questions.

"Yes, yes of course!" Caroline laughs. "I may have a new family now but you guys will always be my family from home."

All of the brothers sit on a chair looking frustrated as Tristian plays a somber tune on the violin. Truthfully, Gabriel knew exactly what represented him in the room after his conversation with Olivia. However he needed to wait for his brothers to find their items.

"Why, holy heavens. Look at you two. How could a woman really love any of you?" Aurora questions as she looks at the three. "Even if she can stomach all your treachery, she's left to face your brother."

Klaus sighs. "And here we go again, with the same tune you've been singing since you came to town, "How Elijah Ruined Our Love."

She scoffs. "I speak of both of you. Did you not rip Aya from Elijah when you forced him to abandon his loyal Strix? Just as he tore you from me? All in the name of "Always and Forever." A ridiculous concept that ensures both of you spend your immortality alone."

"Tell me something, Aurora, have you met your brother Tristan?" Gabriel snorts.

" Between deception and rampant abuse, he frequently repeatedly, isolates and abandons you." Elijah points out. "Of course... he's painfully aware of something that we've known all along.. You are a deranged and ridiculous child who cannot be left unsupervised. Do you know... I think the greatest mercy I ever paid my brother was to compel you to leave him."

"I believe in modern times they call it severe mental bipolar disorder, brother." Gabriel uncaringly drawls as Tristian stares at them both coldly and Aurora looks in near tears.

Freya appears in the Chambre De Chasse and Gabriel stands with a smile. "My amazing sister."

Freya ignores him for the time being as she rushes toward the three. "Quickly. Find me what represents you in here.

Klaus smirks but then suddenly begins choking as if his throat was slit. "Niklaus!"

"Oh God. It's starting." Freya says in horror as Elijah and Gabriel soon face the same fate.

"I need you to focus. Show me what represents you so I can break you out."Freya begs the three.

"The kings." Klaus chokes out.

"The knights." Elijah groans.

Gabriel makes eye contact with a nervous Olivia and whispers, "The Queen."

Freya sprints toward the chessboard and grabs all three pieces before rushing back. "Which is it? The kings or the knights or the queen? We need to decide now."

"How perfect! Even in this crucial hour, your ignorance blinds you." Aurora smiles with glee. "Even if you never learn from your sins, at least you will die because of them... and I get to watch."

Gabriel shakes his head. "Its the queens."

"The women we betrayed represent us." Klaus whispers. "Aurora... Aya."

"And Olivia." Gabriel sighs as he stares at the woman.

Freya clutches the object tightly in her hand and begins to chant. "Onlucan et permette mon ostium!"

Elijah and Gabriel awake at the same moment in the pool and the blood bath begins. Caroline sighs in relief as she watches him tear through two witches. "Davina, enough!" Gabriel roars with rage and betrayal.

She ignores him and continues chanting. "Nemo unus animabus carnem!" Klaus finally awakes and leaps out of the water straight at Davina and Gabriel is forced to watch in slow motion in utter devastation.

"You've had your time!" She yells at him, all of the lights around them explode as she shoves him back into the water with her magic.

Caroline had just made it to Gabriel's side when she begins yelling in pain. "No." Gabriel catches her as she squeezes her eyes shut in pain and her skin visibly grows red.

Less than ten seconds later everything stops and he notices Davina fall unconscious where she stood.

Caroline weakly looks up into his hurt eyes as they hear Klaus' whisper.  "I felt them leave. My sireline is broken."

Davina has just awoken in what looks to be her bedroom in Gabriel's apartment. "Kol? Marcel?"

Both of them look at her wearily. "Hello, Davina." Kol sighs.

"What has happened?" She questions.

"Gabriel has forbidden us from leaving your side until he returns." Marcel sighs.

"Does he know why I did it?" She questions looking like a frightened child.

Marcel looks down. "He knows why you did it, D."

Her face falls even further. "Then whats the problem?"

"Bloody hell, Davina." Kol stands from the bed with wide eyes. "You just destroyed a sire line. The sire line of our most hated brother. Do you have any bloody idea what's going to happen?"

"Easy." Marcel tells him.

"Where is he?" Davina questions tearfully. "I want to talk to him."

"He's doing the same thing that the others are doing." Caroline sighs from the bedroom door. Davina quickly looks to her fearfully. Not fearing Caroline but her reaction. "Mom."

Caroline's own eyes become teary as she quickly joins the girl on the bed and pulls her into an embrace. "He's going to hate me." Davina cries. "I'm not his real daughter, he's going to hate me. He would be here if he was going to talk to me."

Caroline soothingly runs a hand through her hair. "He will be home soon, its okay. He's doing what he should have done from the beginning." She makes eye contact with Marcel. "He's making things right."

Gabriel sees her first.

Standing in the same Lavender field they had met in only weeks earlier.

"You've come to kill me?" Olivia quietly questions, Gabriel notes that she doesn't sound afraid.

"That's what everyone believes." Gabriel calmly tells her. "Klaus is taking care of Aurora. Elijah, Aya."

"Can I ask how you knew?"

"You mean how I knew it was the queen?" He asks and she nods her head. "You tried to lead me into choosing the knights. You've constantly made comments about Caroline and Hayley being lucky to have me. That I was their knight in shining armor."

They remain silent for a moment. "I knew from the moment I met you that all you ever wanted was freedom. First from your father and then from your brother. Your soul was never meant to be tied down, caged."

"That doesn't answer my questions." She tells him.

"I had the power to free you, and I didn't." Gabriel looks down. "I realize now that even then, even as a human.. You favored my bed because it granted you a tiny bit of freedom. Hope that I would be the one to free you. That is how I wronged you."

"I didn't then, but I still have the power to do so now." He tells her.

Olivia gently closes her eyes. "Get on with it then."

Gabriel softly smiles at the girl. A flash of her human self over coming his vision for only a moment. "Be free, Olivia."

Olivia hears a small 'whooshing' sound and hesitantly opens her eyes in confusion.

She looks around the field as she realizes he had left. A piece of paper falls to the grass in front of her and she hurriedly grabs it. Its as she grabs the paper that she notices a small purple bracelet adorning her wrist she didn't previously have.

She opens the paper.

Olivia,

This bracelet is the key to giving you what you have always truly wished for. Not a knight in shining armor, but freedom.

This bracelet is not tied to my magic so regardless of what happens to me or with the Strix no one will ever be able to find you unless you should wish for it. After I leave this field I will send word to everyone we know that you died here. Though in technicality that may be false, I hope there is some truth to my words because you can truly start over now.

You are free Olivia.

My sincerest apologies,

Gabriel Mikaelson

Olivia covers her mouth as she stares at the paper in disbelief.

She glances around the field again and chokes out a sob.

"Thank you Gabriel Mikaelson."

And then she was gone.

Gabriel never heard of or saw her again.

Gabriel is slowly walking through the quarter on his way to his apartment where he knows he'll have to face his trouble prone daughter. He pauses as he hears footsteps behind him. "Leaving so soon?"

He turns around and faces Stefan. "Oh don't tell me you'll miss me?" Stefan jokes.

"Never." Gabriel immediately denies. "Did you at least say goodbye to her?"

"Just left." Stefan confirms. "Theres a pretty upset teenage girl in your home right now."

"Not that it's your business but thats my daughter, the same witch who just broke Klaus' sire line."

Stefan winces. "I would not want to be you right now."

"I wouldn't trade it for the world." Gabriel shrugs and he truly meant it. No matter what troubles his family brought him on the daily he would not trade any of them for the world. Sometimes Klaus, though.

"Bonnie told me." Stefan says and his face falls. "Thank you for doing right by her, Gabriel. I always knew you would take care of her."

Gabriel solemnly nods. "Does she know?"

Stefan shakes his head. "I didn't tell her. Didn't think it was something that should come from anyone but you."

Gabriel pulls something out of his pocket and fiddles with it. "I had two of these made today. Caroline didn't ask me because she thinks my magic is on the fritz but I knew that if I didn't and she ever found out she very well may castrate me."

Stefan raises a curious brow in his direction. "What's that?"

"My sister is a very good witch. That paste will work, temporarily." Stefan's face drops and he nods opening his mouth to respond. "You didn't let me finish. My sister is a very good witch but I'm better." He tosses the object to Stefan and he catches it. Uncurling his hand he reveals a purple bracelet. "So long as you wear this no one, including Rayna Cruze, will be able to locate you. Not even the most powerful witch in the world could track you. A little trick I created when Hope needed hiding as an infant. Take care of yourself, Stefan."

"Wait!" Stefan calls. "Why does everyone think your magic is uh-not working? I'm sure it could have been useful these past couple of days."

Gabriel smirks. "Because I didn't want them to know Stefan. And i'd like to keep it that way."

"Why?" Stefan furrows his brows in confusion.

"See you at the wedding!" Gabriel simply says as he waives and walks away without another word, Stefan watching him go.

Stefan shakes his head with a small smile looking down at the bracelet with a small seed of hope as he slips it onto his wrist. "Thank god Caroline fell in love with a Mikaelson."
