MR. BULLETS

"Niklaus, for Heaven's sakes! Release the poor creature." They hear Elijah's aggravated words just as they enter the room.

Gabriel stops in the door way not allowing Caroline who is holding Lizzie enter just as the police chief drops to the ground.

"That's not what I meant!" Elijah grunts

Klaus just shrugs and walks past Gabriel and Caroline into the living room. "He'll live! And he'll remember to do better."

"Or he'll run from the city." Caroline scoffs to herself as the three other siblings look at each other with annoyance.

"Is all this torture necessary?" Freya questions but Klaus just ignores her.

"Where have you been?"

Caroline whips around and notices Marcel was in the hallway, she looks to Gabriel and notices he doesn't look surprised in the slightest.

'Originals' She mentally rolls her eyes.

Marcel walks into the room and rolls his eyes at Klaus' frantic behavior. "I was making sure that the Strix and their witches are out trying to find your loony ex-girlfriend. Is that okay by you?"

"Gentlemen, please." Elijah interrupts not wanting the two to begin their squabbling but Marcel continues. "All of our heads are on the chopping block because he lost the one thing that can kill an Original."

"Oh, believe me. He has not heard the end of it since." Caroline narrows her eyes at the hybrid slightly.

"It's not his fault that Cami was waving the white oak around like a kite, or that Aurora made a deal with one of your witches." Freya defends.

Klaus stands to his feet and walks in between his sister and Marcel. "I'm quite capable of defending myself, thank you, Freya. What I cannot do is cast a spell to find Aurora. " He gives her a pointed glare. "In that respect, we're alike."

Gabriel steps in front of Freya, forcing his brother to look at him instead. "Do not speak to our sister like that again, Niklaus." He orders.

Freya looks touched by her brother standing up for her and gains slight confidence. "I have been working nonstop every day."

Klaus mock purses his lips. "Well, you've stopped working now, haven't you? And why can't Gabriel work on the spell? I've always trusted his magic and yet as of late, any time we need it it's non-existent."

Gabriel nonchalantly shrugs. "Still recovering from our incident the other day."

Caroline looks down knowing that she was the incident. When Tristian had tried to kill her.

"And what about that Bennett witch? I am sure she can make herself useful since she is lingering around." Klaus pokes.

"She left this morning. She won't be back for a few weeks and you're not using Bonnie." Caroline scowls.

"She left?" Freya softly questions.

Gabriel's eyes slightly soften. "Something came up, she didn't have time to say her farewells. As Caroline said, she will be back."

Freya nods but Klaus just gestures toward the door. "Well, go on. On your way."

Freya looks to him with outrage. "Do you talk to our other sister like this?" Klaus looks to the ground feeling slightly guilty. "Didn't think so."

As soon as she leave the room no one sees Gabriel's fist flying before it hits his brother in the jaw.

"You held back." Marcel complains. Gabriel points a finger in the hybrids face with his jaw clenched. "Quit being an ass to Freya. She has done nothing but help you."

Klaus says nothing and Gabriel turns around leading Caroline and Lizzie out of the room.

Gabriel takes a seat beside Hayley on a park bench in Jackson Square.

"Come to pay your respects?" Hayley jokes but there was no humor in her voice.

"I don't find it appropriate for me to but I will say he was a good man." He kindly tells her. He looks ahead at the small tree a few feet away from them and notices the shallow dirt. "May I ask why you chose to do this? It was to my understanding that his Bayou funeral was a very honored tradition amongst the wolves."

"At least here Hope will have a place to visit him. I don't want her to forget how much she loved him." Hayley stares at the ground with a frown. Gabriel stares at her sympathetically. "I'm sorry for your loss, little wolf. I wish I could have done more."

"Everybody's sorry. Doesn't make a whole lot of difference, does it?" She responds but theres no anger in her tone, just sadness.

"In my experience, no. Nothing in the world will make a difference. You just learn to deal with it as the days pass." He sighs slowly standing and holding his hand out to her. "Keeping busy is always good. Come along, Caroline has requested you join her on a little mission my brother has given her. Won't take no for an answer."

Hayley gives him a curious glance. When she doesn't budge he tiredly groans. "He believes Camille is still in danger and would prefer she has some safe guarding."

"Isn't that his job? Also, he thinks that Caroline and I are considered safe guarding?" She sarcastically questions.

"Not his job at the moment what with her wanting her space and yes. He believes with you and Caroline around she's the safest person in the city."

"Can't imagine why." She lightly laughs but takes his hand none the less.

"I can imagine exactly why." Gabriel rolls his eyes as they begin walking. His brother would have much preferred Gabriel became her personal body guard but he absolutely refused. He almost regretted it when his brother questioned Caroline the next best thing and even suggested she ask Hayley to tag along to keep herself busy.

Caroline was more than happy to feel any bit of usefulness in the situation not realizing that he was forcing his brother to guard the woman either way.

Hayley side eyes him confusedly but then suddenly remembers something. She pauses. "Gabriel... The other day when you were hugging Caroline your eyes..."

Gabriel feigns innocence. "I don't know what you mean."

She deadpans and he sighs again. "Would you believe me if I said not to worry."

"No."

"Of course not." He grunts in displeasure. "I can't tell you. I won't tell you."

Her eyes flash with slight hurt and he groans. "Don't make those eyes at me. You don't need to know and you don't need to worry."

"Gabriel." She slightly raises her voice as it cracks. "I just lost my husband. I just watched his heart be torn from his chest while I had to sit there completely helpless. I almost had to watch the same thing happen to Caroline." He looks away. " I cannot lose anyone else. Tell me whatever is going on, I won't lose anyone else."

He grabs her by her shoulders and forces her to look into his eyes. "I am doing this to make sure we don't lose another person."

She studies his face for a moment as if trying to detect any lies but finds none. She nods as he pulls his buzzing phone from his pocket. "Freya is in trouble, I need to help my brothers. You stay with Caroline and Camille please."

The three brothers walk around the Bayou attempting to find Freya with the compass Davina had enchanted for them to find her while Gabriel and Klaus attempt to find any scent of her or Aurora. "I am surprised Davina helped you." Gabriel admits to the two.

"What exactly do you mean?" Elijah questions confusedly. "She is your daughter, why wouldn't she help us?"

Gabriel sighs. "She has been avoiding Caroline and I for quite some time. I haven't even had the time to track her down with everything going on."

"The new baby, perhaps?" Klaus questions with slight concern in his voice. Although she thought of herself a grownup all of the Mikaelson family saw her as a child. A child belonging to the Mikaelson family.

"No." Gabriel adamantly shakes his head. "No, she was so excited for Lizzie to finally be here. I fear she is in some kind of trouble." He stops in his steps as they come across a cabin. "The last time she had done this, she summoned Mikael. If she truly has done something I need your utmost serious promise you will not hurt her."

Both brothers stare at him with all seriousness and nod. "Of course, shes a Mikaelson" Klaus says and Elijah nods his head.

"You two track the scent. I'll take the cabin." Elijah tells them knowing they didn't have a moment to waste but Gabriel shakes his head. "Nonsense, if there is nothing in the cabin it'll take moments to clear. But if there is trouble you will need back up. I will come with you as a precautionary measure while Nik ventures further."

Elijah hesitates feeling slightly powerless. He had never needed 'back up' before but New Orleans seemed to bring out the worst in their enemies. He nods but looks to Niklaus. "Niklaus... Whatever happens, you promise me.."

Klaus nods somewhat solemnly yet determined at the same time. "Aurora dies today."

Elijah and Gabriel head toward the cabin quietly. Gabriel slowly opens the front door scanning the room for both Aurora and Freya.

Both brothers pause as they scan the table of its contents. Gabriel's stomach drops as he analyzes the blue prints of bullets and one single white oak bullet laying on the table. "Lijah.." Gabriel quietly warns and his brother sighs. "Aurora."

Gabriel turns around to face the red head and his heart skips a beat as he notices her revolver aimed at Elijahs Head. "Dont." He strongly tells her.

"Modern weaponry for the modern woman. With a little bit of flair, of course. I couldn't help myself. It's pretty, no?" She smugly smirks at the two.

"Theatrical and tasteless as ever. Where's Freya?" Elijah blankly stares at her, unknowingly egging her on.

She rolls her eyes and groans. "Oh, Elijah... You remain a stick in the mud. And it seems your darling sister takes after you--she's stuck in the mud, too. Somewhere out there, busy as a little bee, dying. If not already dead."

Gabriel growls in anger. This psychotic woman buried his sister alive. He steps forward but she switches her aim toward his heart. "Now, Now. Let's not be hasty. I heard a little rumor that your magic is on the fritz. It is believed that the white oak could not kill you because of your magic but I wonder if now that's not the case? You've over used your magic so much since coming to New Orleans that it just hasn't had time to really re-charge has it? I say we test that theory." She widely smiles as both brothers remain tense.

"My family has faced villains far more scary than a scorned lover, Aurora." Gabriel goads. "Even if you manage to kill me, there will be five more Mikaelson's hunting you to the earths end."

"You actually believe in your own myth you and your brothers created. Nothing lasts always and forever, and certainly not you" She giggles as she aims the gun back toward Elijah.

"So what are we waiting for?" Elijah questions.

"Niklaus." Gabriel rolls his eyes.

"I'm not here to kill Niklaus. I'm only waiting for him to arrive..." She scolds as if they were ridiculous for thinking she would physically hurt her love. "So he can watch you die."

"This is all about the fact that you believe Elijah ruined your perfect love story." Gabriel surmises.

"You do realize that you're utterly insane? Niklaus can be resilient, but there's only so much madness even he can take." Elijah snarks, becoming more on edge with every second his sister remains below ground.

Aurora's smile completely falls as a hurt look comes over her face and she slowly lowers the gun.

"I suppose, eventually, he was able to distinguish between real love and some... petty desire. Once he'd discarded you, the veil was lifted and all that remained was something quite pathetic." He continues. Before Gabriel can interject Elijah lunges for the gun but she was quick and pushed the barrell of the gun directly against his chest.

"The veil is lifted, all right. Love is nothing but a trap. The one truth you speak, the one thing that I agree with entirely, only the love of family is unbreakable. It is the only love worth fighting for. And my beloved brother, Tristan, suffers in a box, drowning over and over again, unable to die. So I will end his suffering by ending you his sire. And the look on Niklaus' face as a white oak bullet pierces your heart and takes your life... Will be the salve for my own broken heart." She sneers and bares her teeth as Gabriel attempts to slowly close the distance between him and the two.

Klaus bursts into the cabin with Freya's arm slung over his shoulder and Gabriel sighs in relief that she was alive although she looked in rough shape. "Stop this!" Klaus roars.

Aurora snickers. "Why? One brother's life to end another brother's torment? It's almost poetic."

"The bullets are white oak." Gabriel quietly tells him. Klaus leans Freya against the door way and Gabriel steps in front of her to shield her from any of Aurora's madness.

Oh how he missed Caroline and Lizzie in this moment.

"We both know you're not going to pull the trigger." Klaus tries to talk her down but it only made her anger grow.

"Yet again, you're wrong."

Aurora pulls the trigger and Freya manages to weakly lift her wrist to deflect the bullet away from her brother and yet it ends up back firing as the bullet ricochets off of the wall and comes straight toward her only for Gabriel to step in front of her, it hitting him in the shoulder. Gabriel grunts in pain as all three stare at him in horror allowing Aurora to escape the home.

"Tend to Gabriel. I have to murder my ex." Klaus spits out furiously as he leaves the home.

"Gabriel!" Freya worries as she weakly turns toward him noticing his face becoming pale.

He shakes her off. "I'm fine, it's just my shoulder."

"We need to remove the bullet. It's still white oak. You will not heal like you would with a normal bullet." Elijah scolds him.

With out a warning to the other two he shoves his hand into the wound and loudly groans as he pokes and prods. Freya and Elijah step forward out of reflex as he slowly pulls the bullet out.

"It's not healing." Freya says looking at both men desperately for an answer, unwilling to lose her family after only just finding them.

"She's smart. Crazy, but smart." Gabriel admits.

"It splintered." Elijah realizes.

"Elijah can dig it out." Freya confidently tells the two.

Gabriel weakly smirks. "Not now my dear sister. Our brother is in trouble."

He disappears and Elijah growls in anger.

"What is he doing?" Freya demands. Elijah doesn't answer and chases after his brother just arriving in the woods in time to see Gabriel jump in front of his other brother and taking another white oak bullet to the chest. "No!" He yells.

Gabriel slowly looks down to his chest as his little brothers watch in horror. He places his hand on the would and pulls away to see it soaked in blood. He falls face first into the ground. His brothers rushing to turn him over.

"Why would you do that?" Klaus growls as tears line his eyes.

"Quit whining. Get the bullet out." Gabriel rasps as he clenches his eyes shut.

Looking between each other, Klaus decides he will do it. He plunges his hand into his chest trying to find where the bullet had hit. Gabriel tries to mask his screams but ends up letting loud grunts of pain out instead.

"The bullet didn't puncture your heart." Klaus reassures himself. "It gets closer with every beat. I must stop it."

"Aurora is getting away." Gabriel whispers.

"We are not going to leave you." Klaus argues.

"If I don't make it..."

Before he can finish his train of thought Klaus snaps his neck, forcing his heart to stop beating and making it easier to find the bullet.

"I won't hear any of that." Klaus growls.

Gabriel wakes up in the compound with a gasp. Soft hands push his chest back down to the bed not allowing him to get up just yet. "Gabriel, Gabriel calm down. You're home."

"Love." He breathes out in relief as his vision adjusts to his surroundings. Noticing he is now safe in the Mikaelson compound he throws his head back.

Caroline watches him take deep breathes in and out, her heart a rapid mess. "Gabriel..." She whispers tearfully.

He slowly opens his eyes and weakly smiles at her.

She stands from the bed, beginning to pace. "How could you do that?" Gabriel sadly watches as tears fall from her eyes. "You jumped in front of a bullet that could have killed you! Not once but twice! Are you that eager to leave Lizzie and I?"

"Don't say that." Gabriel growls.

Caroline throws her hands up. "What else can I say?"

"The white oak can't kill me, care." He weakly argues.

She scowls at him and places her hands on her hips. "Freya told me your magic is weak. Being a tribrid is why the white oak can't kill you. Theres a possibility that when your magic is weak, it could. Don't lie to me."

"That's a possibility." He grunts as he tries to get up from the bed still feeling weak.

"It's a chance!" She yells. "A chance you were willing to take!"

"Yes, well there wasn't a chance for my brothers. If there is a hundred percent chance they will die and even a one percent chance that I won't... I will take that bullet for them every time, Care. Always and forever. You knew exactly who I was before we got into this relationship Caroline." He softly tells her, hoping to calm her down.

"I never expected you to give up your vow!" She argues. "I just thought that when Lizzie came that your priorities might shift a little. Is that so horrible? She's your daughter and she needs you alive! "

Gabriel slams her against the wall, his forehead meeting her own as they both heave from adrenaline. "Stop questioning my loyalty to you. To our daughters. Please, I can't take it Caroline."

"We almost lost you." Caroline cries. "Because you jumped in front of a bullet."

Gabriel litters her head with kisses as she sobs into his chest. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm here."

"Promise you won't leave us." Caroline strongly demands.

Gabriel stares down into her heartbroken eyes and remains silent for a few moments. "I will do whatever is necessary to protect you all."

"You cannot protect us from the grave." She tells him.

Gabriel grabs her by the back of the neck and yanks her into a smothering kiss. "Marry me." He demands.

Caroline freezes, stunned.

"Marry me." He growls.

Still frozen Caroline doesn't move as he pulls a back box from his pocket revealing a gorgeous oval cut diamond ring and gently slides it onto her finger. "Marry me."

Slowly looking up to meet his eyes she's in awe as his eyes flash between amber, blue, and the veins appear and disappear on his eyelids. "Caroline." He impatiently voices.

"Oh!" She yelps, looking down at her hand and then back at him a few times she squeals and wraps her arms around his neck. "Of course! Yes! Yes! Yes!"

Gabriel wraps his arms around her waist savoring the moment. "I'm sorry you didn't get your dream proposal." He softly whispers into her ear as he rocks them back and fourth.

Caroline shakes her head adamantly with a beaming smile still gracing her face. "Anything from you is perfect."

"You speak too highly of me." He whispers under his breath.

"Never." She denies.
