Chapter 4

Chapter 4:

Sahara POV:

I woke in the morning, and my wolf was still next to me, but instead of me resting my head on his shoulder, he was curled up next to me. Someone had moved me into bed, and now his head was resting on my chest. I put my hand on his head and began to pet him again. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at me. Standing up on the bed, he leaned down and licked my face.

“Are you giving me kisses bud?” I asked him. He responded with a big friendly bark, lolling his tune out to the side. I laughed and smiled at him. He licked me again, from my forehead to my chin.

“Ok, ok enough.”

I pushed him off and sat up.  I looked around. We were no longer in the hospital like room. This new room was very open and bright. The floor was a light wood and the wall behind my head was gray slate tile. The wall to my left was glass, a window wall that looked out over the Appalachian Mountains.

My wolf jumped off of the bed and barked at me, nodding his head towards a door on the other side of the room. I got out of the bed cringing as the cold seeped into me through my toes. The small thin spaghetti strap dress that I was wearing did little to keep the cool dawns of autumn away. I walked through the door that the wolf had nodded to.

A large bathroom sprawled out in front of me. I was very new and modern, and the slate theme was carried over from the bedroom into this room. The wall with the sinks was again slate tiles. A huge glass shower was in the corner. The back wall was curved and all glass, this time it was looking out over a small lake. The tub was egg shaped and next to the window. On the slate countertop, next to the sinks there were new clothes, a white button up shirt and a pair of jeans. A pair of leather moccasins sat off to the side . Beneath the clothes there were two different options of underwear. One was slutty and made me want to puke. The other was a little bit better. Not what I normally wore, but slightly better than the first.

My wolf walked back into the bathroom and sat himself down on the bathmat with a great big humpth.

                “Are you tiered big guy?”

He gave me another humpth and looked at the shower, nodding at me.

“I’m going don’t worry.”

I started to strip. My top and jeans were off, and my wolf made a whining sound. I looked down at him. As soon as I made eye contact with him, he covered his eyes with his pawl as if he were embarrassed. I laughed at him, ruffled his ears and stepped under the wonderful hot water.

The water soothed me and gave me a chance to really think about everything that had happened in the past, was it only, two days. Andrew had taken me and that still had me scared. I had been taken here. Was I to be a hostage, were they going to try to get my father to pay a ransom? The thought was comical. My father was most likely joyful at my disappearance. No one would truly miss me. That thought made my heart tare. There was no one that I was close to my mother’s death and my father’s beatings had made me push anyone who would have cared away. There was no close best friend, there wasn’t a boyfriend. No one. My tears began to mix with the water as I let myself drown in my own self-pity.

I got out of the shower, my hair was wet and dipping as I tried to read the letter that had been left on top of the clothes. I read it quickly. All that it asked was that I meet someone, most likely the nurse woman, downstairs a soon as I finished getting ready. I brushed my hair and my teeth with the toiletries that had been left with the letter on top of the clothes. I hurriedly changed into the jeans and the white top, that was made for a man twice my size. When I finished changing my hair was frizzier than imaginable. I pulled it up into a tight neat braid, and headed out the door.

I walked out into the hall and immediately was grabbed and pulled over to the side by a dark haired girl who was close to my height. She pushed me into the wall and glared at me with her hazel eyes.

"Look, I don't know who you are walking in here, thinking that you can just steal Ryker away from me. I have given up too much for him to just change his mind, days before the full moon. You’re going to stay away from him and his wolf; do you understand me?"

I looked her completely shocked. Did she not know that I was brought here against my will?

"What's it going to me you lowly human?" she growled at me.

I kept my head down as I responded, “I’m not here to take anything or anyone away from you."

She seemed satisfied with my answer because she walked away from me down the stairs. I followed her

Outside were women of all ages. There were girls, who appeared to be a few years older than I, holding the hands of small toddlers. There were other girls who were clustered together; these seemed to be about my age. Most looked excited and nervous, but there were a few whose faces portrayed what I was feeling, confusion and fear. Most of those girls were huddling next to women who looked to be about Mrs. Sarah’s age.

Mrs. Sarah had pushed me forward, when her cell phone went off. The person on the other line spoke quickly before Mrs. Sarah replied, “They’re ready?”

The person on the other line said something before Mrs. Sarah said anything more, “Yes, send them off, we’re ready.”

I had opened my mouth to question her, but before I could she moved up on to a tree stump and spoke to the whole crowd, “Girls, it is time to go,” she swept her arm out towards the woods, and with a smile continued,  “don’t linger to long.”

All of the older women laughed, and the groups of girls shot off into the woods. The girls who were next to the older women needed a little bit more support, but they eventually followed the others in to woods. Mrs. Sarah walked to me, “Run along dear. This is your chance to find your way home.”

I looked at her smiling face and timidly walked forward into the forest. I looked behind me at the throng of women, young mothers, and toddlers who were watching as we moved into the dark woods.

A howl came from behind me. A scream rang out and was followed by silence. I ran as fast as I could, my bread interned into desperate pants as I pushed myself harder and harder. My breathing was loud, and my footfalls even more so. A bark came from my left. The time for flight was gone; now it was time to hide and attack. I took off my shoes, throwing them as far away as possible. They landed some distance away with a loud thunk. I moved as quickly as I could without making any noise. There was a loud crunch behind me and it seemed to be that whatever had been following me had taken the bait. My shoes a considerable distance away I went back to the original plan of running.

I had been moving along quickly and quietly as so to not alert my follower.  I heard a quick distant bark from my left and took a fast and hard step forward, getting ready to sprint as fast as possible. My foot landed on a stick that was standing up. It broke the skin and lodged itself in my foot like an oversized splinter.  I hobbled my way forward until the trees began to thin and open up to revel to a grassy meadow.

I moved into the meadow, forgetting about my tracker. The sound of water assaulted my ears and the small ache in my throat turned into a burning that almost made tears come to my eyes. I ran forward, no longer caring that I was making noise or that I was opening myself up for an attack from any angle. The moon cast an eerie light over everything. I was in the middle of the meadow and could see the small bubbling stream, when a howl rang out and a black wolf walked out of the forest on my left side.  With my foot all messed up I knew that any chance of out running him were completely shot.  The wolf came closer and closer. Stilled shadowed by the tall pine trees. It moved another step and suddenly the bright full moon cast down on to the wolf.

It was him, my wolf. My wolf was here. I was so stupid thinking that whatever was following me has bad intentions. I lowered myself to the ground and reached my hand out, begging him to come forward. At that moment the blanket of calmness that came with my wolf was much needed. My nerves were still raddled from all that had happened tonight.

“Come here boy,” I called out to him.

He padded over to me, making no sound when he moved. He walked straight into my hand burying his head into my palm. I stretched my hand over his fur stroking its softness. The wolf nuzzled into my side and I continued to pet him. He whinnied once before his jaws snapped hard into my side. I cried out in pain. I should have known that throwing a wild animal would end poorly for me. I let out a second cry this one for my stupidity.

As soon as I had uttered that first cry my wolf had fled, retreating into the darkness of the forest. I sat their sighting for a few minutes. The bite had begun to burn and that burning was beginning to spread to the res

Out of the forest came a man. His hair was as dirty blond and his jade green eyes stood out in contrast to his toned tan skin. His eyes immediately sought me out, and he ran to my side. He pulled me into his arms, holding me close to his chest. "I'm sorry I know that I hurts but I need you to not black out until its safe. I tell you when you can black out."

All that I could do was nod. The pain that had originated from the wound in my side had spread to the rest of my body. The feeling that my skin was being peeled was the central thought in my brain. The man held me closer and just whispered sweeting things into my ear.

Suddenly howls began to ring out from all over the forest and the man placed me on the ground. At this point I was nearly hanging on to my sanity. I was fading in and out. I knew that I couldn’t keep from blacking out for much longer.

The man bent down to look me in the eye," let go."

That I did. I allowed my mind to embrace the darkness. The pain only got worse. It ripped through me. My bones felt like they were breaking apart only to be fused back together quickly and in the wrong position. The pain became so bad that I thought that I might die, but then another wolf's cry met my ears and it all stopped.

Thanks for all of the support. Im sorry that it took so long. I think that i am going to either upate this or my Rensemee Cullen's siter story every friday, but im in the middle of the soccer season so things are kind of crazy. Thanks for reading vote and comment!
