Cupcake
Vi placed thick brass knuckles over her fingers as she walked out of the last drop to succeed her mission. It wasn't her fault sevika got whooped by some freak. She mumbled annoyed at the job she now had to do but that's why Silco put her on the frontline. Cause she gets shit done.
The disgusting feeling of being his dog, she could never feel clean for her miserable life.
It was hard now for her to find any joy in life. She thought if she kept her brothers close they could be like how they once were just under new management. But claggor was a traitor and Milo barely gave her a second glance. But at least he still looked out for her when they knew better.
It didn't bother her anymore though.. not like it use too but seven years is a long time to feel nothing.
Only when she gets to fight she felt that same adrenaline she chased after like a high. But eventually you have to come back down right?
"Vi!" Two people ran to her as one woman was shot in the stomach. Blood covered her shirt and dripped down her pants.
Vi moved to the side so she didn't get the blood on her but waited to see what they're huffing about.
"We found her-we found the girl," the other woman wheezed for a breath from running and carrying.
"Girl?" It didn't click.
"Jinx! She fucking shot me!" The injured cried out.
"You found her already?" Vi was surprised by the good few hours it's been since they sent out the message.
"She's with some purple hair girl, tall and has a fancy ass gun," she nodded and winced in pain.
Purple hair.. there was no way.
"Where?" Vi glared down at them.
-
The pink hair girl blew smoke out of her mouth as she held a cigarette at the tips of her fingers, looking around at the area those goons told her they saw jinx and her side kick.
She looked side to side remembering what sevika said about traps.
Drawing a long inhale of the cigarette she whistled to get attention from whoever was listening.
"Listen, jinx?! Let's just make this easy, you pissed off the wrong person and let's just settle this!" Vi called out to the dark alley that was empty. She looked to the side of the brick wall and noticed a small graffiti of doodles. She felt a shiver up her spine and flicked her cigarette away.
"You don't want me to do my job jinx, I'm good at what I do," vi tsked. There was a sound at the end of the alley that sounded something like a shuffle or a laugh.
"Gotta make an entrance or something?" She called again opening her arms as she swayed in her walk.
Despite her not wanting to, vi went forward to the end of the alley. The grey sky made it seem extra gloomy and she looked side to side. She saw people laying on the ground unconscious, they must've been the ones that went after jinx. It looked like they were caught in an explosion but they were alive.
"Come on out you freak!" Vi yelled to no one.
She heard glass break behind her and looked over her shoulder. Her eyes narrowed at a broken wall that was her childhood hide out. Where she practiced her boxing, Milo would practice his shooting, her sister made her little inventions with claggor. She hasn't stepped foot in there since her sister died.
"What are you doing here?" Caitlyn gasped from ducking behind crates and ran to vi.
"Whoa cupcake long time no see," vi smirked as the girl grabbed her shoulder.
"You can't be here," the enforcer insisted pushing her back.
"Why? Cause you work for jinx?" Vi hummed curiously and Caitlyn clenched her jaw.
"I don't work with her- is that why you're here? Are you hunting us?" Caitlyn annoyance turned into surprise.
"Aight cupcake, let's make this fast, I'll take jinx off your hands and you can go free, I don't wanna hurt that pretty face," vi warned getting closer instead.
"I won't hand over jinx to you, and she's not here," Caitlyn didn't move and looked down at the other woman.
"Ahh so you two are close? If I wait with you will she show up?" Vi backed her up to a wall as Caitlyn lost her breath.
"We're not friends," Caitlyn was flustered quickly as she put her hands up to block Vi's distance.
"No we're not," the shorter girl smiled agreeing.
"Silco doesn't know about you so help me help you out, where's jinx?" Vi looked her up and down.
"Stop that," cait finally had enough and pushed her way off the wall as vi allowed it.
"I would be in a world of awful trouble if I let something happen to jinx, you don't want me in trouble right?" She pursed her lips having a little fun with the banter.
"Well we're not friends," vi teased.
Suddenly they heard a yell from inside the old hideout and loud crashing. Vi recognized the voice but Caitlyn didn't, one of the girls ran to see what happened.
Caitlyn frowned not knowing what the commission was while big disappeared inside.
Vi stepped over old glass and saw Milo on the ground groaning in pain on the main ground. And on the side she saw a skinny blue hair girl standing in front of the punching machine she use to use, standing above them with a gun in her hand.
"Milo!" Vi barked as he scooted back.
"I-it's it's it-" Milo stumbled over his words pointing at the blue hair girl. Vi couldn't see her face in the dimly lit room, but she heard a raspy cackle.
"Girl Scout let's go!" The girl yelled back as her voice echoed in the large space.
Vi gasped looking behind her, Caitlyn slowly backing away until she picked up into a sprint in opposite direction.
"Jinx!" Vi screamed when she spun her head back all she saw was blue braids escaping to the back.
"Milo you hurt?" She asked quickly.
"No but she's crazy!" Milo pushed himself up but vi was already gone.
-
-20 minutes earlier -
"She's with some purple hair girl, tall and has a fancy ass gun," the girls told vi as Milo locked up the pub behind them.
"Where?" Vi asked as Milo kept his back to them. Even though he was listening.
The location was close to the hide out. And something felt off about this jinx. He couldnt figure it out. Milo waited for vi to leave and put the keys in his pocket.
But he followed anyways. He still had some courage left in him.
Milo gulped when he stood outside the back door of the old hideout that was a safe place at one time. But it hasn't been touched since that day the enforcers broke in.
He quietly closed the rusty door behind him and looked down the dark halls. It smelt like old wood and sewer, just like the way they left it. His heart raced when he walked in the dark, but he could see the light at the end of the main area they use to stay in.
The scrawny brunette placed his hand on the wall when he made it to the main set. Vi's old boxing machine that still had all their high scores, even if it was mostly Vi's. The shoot game range he would mess around with, last time he played... powder whooped his ass at the game after the bad gig they had.
That day...
He picked up the toy gun off the ground and clicked the trigger to see if it still worked but the trigger was stuck.
"Dumb old thing," he smacked the side of it.
Milo held his breath when he felt like there was eyes on him. He looked around for whoever was watching him but there was no one. This place now gave him the creeps.
Until he saw the blue hair dangling above the boxing machine. He felt as if a scream was ripped from his mouth even if no sound came out. Dropping the toy back on the floor.
"Shit!" He felt his knees get weak.
"J-jinx?" Milo covered his mouth and the girl dropped down to the platform, standing tall as she stared at him.
"That's me,"
"I-I your wanted b-by silco, you beat sevika," Milo was lost for words from his fear but she looked amused.
"You're shaking like a lost child Milo," powder smiled pleased.
"And if that's how I'm known around here I might as well stay, making me sound like a badass," she laughed a little.
"But your afraid of me?" Powder crossed her arms with a gun in her hand.
"Funny, cause it's partly your fault for jinx,"
"It is you.. powder," Milo whispered and stepped closer.
"Hm," she hummed smiling still, shrugging like it was up in the air.
"Powder, what the hell you've grown so much, your so different, you-your the jinx?" Milo ran up to the platform but didn't get step up.
"People usually grow after seven years Milo," she crouched down to him and poked his forehead.
"Where have you been?" His eyes were wide.
"Away and happy, and I know what you're thinking then, why am I here if I was happy? I have my reasons but I've done this shpeel like a hundred times last few days, I'm getting tired," she scrunched up her nose making a face.
"I'm just hiding from everyone for a few hours then I gotta light this sucker, find my Girl Scout and my boy savior," powder stood up and stretched her arms above her head.
"Does vi know?" Milo asked, his voice still shaking.
"Oh once she knows it'll be a party then, but I'm saving it, but something tells me I can't pretend to only be jinx for much longer," she sighed annoyed.
"Are you like... evil now?" Milo whispered.
Her face lost all expression, no anger no amusement, her face was blank while she looked at him. Maybe disappointment.
"You'd like that wouldn't you?" She whispered back.
"Wouldn't it make things so much easier if I've been gone and I came back evil and cruel and some sort of monster, I wasn't always like this!" Powder snapped back now, insulted by his words.
"I don't want to be here, but you and claggor to chicken shit to do anything, just sitting around hoping someone else will fix your life, and vi I guess isn't doing to hot, this is the last place I want to be," she kicked him in the chest and milo cried out falling on his back, something being crushed under him.
Powder breathed heavily as she watched him stay down. A small laugh left her lips, this was the man that called her weak? Saying she should take a few hits when she was against people ten times her size? And now he's afraid of this jinx idea of her and easily went down. Pathetic really.
"Milo!"
Well shit... now it's her turn to be a little frozen in fear.
"It's-it's- it-" Milo pointed at her. Powder felt her mind going wild, she was in the same room as her sister.
Why why why why why why did did did did did did you you you you you you leave leave leave leave leave leave me me me me me me
Because because you're you're you're a a a a jinx jinx jinx jinx jinx JINX
Powders wide eyes darted to vi, who was staring right at her.
"Girl Scout let's go!" Powder finally yelled knowing Caitlyn was keeping a look out earlier.
She took her chance when vi looked away to bolt it to the back.
