Changed
Ekko motioned for the others two continue back to home base without him, he moved to the side on the board with powder in his arms still as she held onto Ekkos jacket tightly. He went to the large pipes that were twice his height and a little water leaked out the edge from the dark inside.
He gently set powder down on the cement floor and sat with her, his board on the side to keep it lit enough in the pipe.
She winced holding her ribs still as Ekko took off his mask, the look on his face was beyond confusion and worry.
"What the hell are you doing here? I told you to stay away," Ekko was baffled, she flinched away when he adjusted himself.
"I came to help..." powder whispered.
Ekko saw the tear stains where make up dragged down her face, two gashes on her face from where vi punched her, blood smeared on her upper lip from her nose. He could see her starting to form a black eye as well.
"Fuck... vi really got you good," Ekko felt guilt burrow in his gut seeing how beat up she was.
"At least I got a shot at her," powder tried to joke but there was no smile.
She inhaled deeply but winced in pain again, a small sob broke from her lips.
Ekko watched her start to cry as her shoulders shook. She bowed her head down as she sobbed.
"She really abandoned me, nothings changed," she wailed and Ekko wrapped his arms around her. He's heard her cry over vi before, when she got yelled at, the few times vi pushed her down in anger. But it's never been like this. He's never seen powder beaten like this.
"I didn't want you to know how bad it's gotten, I'm sorry pow," Ekko whispered in her hair as she cried pathetically against his shoulder.
"Please don't change Ekko," she pressed her forehead against his shoulder and she begged.
"What if I have?" He spoke realistically.
"Then change for the right reason," powder whispered and he nodded holding her still. Rubbing her arm trying to sooth her but she winced again.
"Alright, we don't have all day, tell me what hurts," Ekko pulled her off of him and held the side of her face to sturdy her.
"My shoulder, she dislocated my shoulder but put it back.. my head she hit a lot," powder touched the back of her head slowly where she got slammed.
"And my neck, she tried to choke me, a-and my ribs, she hit me really really hard in my side," her hands shook when she touched her bruised neck.
Ekko pursed his lips and nodded, it was worse than he expected but she was alive and that's what mattered.
"Let's see your ribs, you keep looking more in pain when you breathe heavier," Ekko told her calmly. Powder unhooked her overall strap and slowly pulled them down to her waist, her top stopped right at the top of her ribs so her midriff showed.
Ekko saw four cloud tattoos swirled on the ride side on her ribs, they were a soft blue like her eyes. On the left side was the black and purple bruising that vi caused.
"So you got tattoos? Didn't see that coming," ekko tried to lighten up.
"Got them when I was sixteen, Jayce was so mad," powder smiled finally.
"I guess you can take the girl out of zaun but not zaun out of the girl... no matter how hard I've worked in topside, they still see me as less because of where I'm born," she shrugged a little but closed her eyes at her shoulder pain.
Ekko inspected her wounds allowing her to speak freely, she looked exhausted.
"Where we are born isn't our fault, you, me, vi, even silco and vander were born here, it's how we live is what makes us better or worse," Ekko offered and she slowly nodded understanding.
"I brought this, hoping to help," powder reached in her pocket and handed him a small bag. Ekko seemed confused but opened the bag to the small box inside. He took the top off the box and saw the glowing stone inside.
"It's a hextech gemstone, they're really powerful, a weapon to help save zaun," powder explained as he held it up to examine. "It's what I've been working on in the lab with Viktor and Jayce,"
"So boy savior, you gonna let me finish what I started or are you going to send me home?" She asked raising a bloody brow up at him with a small hum.
"Im sorry your wrapped up into this powder, but damn am I glad you're on our side," he smiled back at her.
"We need to find Caitlyn, she came with me from topside, she can help," powder told him worried for her friend not knowing where she could be.
"We need to patch you up first, can go around looking like you lost the fight," ekko offered his hand to help her back to her feet.
"I can't let you know where we're going though okay? Can you trust me?" Ekko asked holding up his helmet.
"I can trust you," powder agreed and he placed the helmet on her, pressing a button on the side to have the eyes go dark so she couldn't see anymore. Ekko picked her up again and had her hold on tightly as he got back on the hoverboard. She gasped when they moved into the air and flew off to the hide out.
Powder felt her exhaustion get to her as she was quiet on the way back, resting her head on his shoulder, like they use to as kids. He was the only friend that was her age when they were young, they would practice Vi's moves with each other not caring if it looked silly. They would ride around the under city. It was so much simpler in those times. But Ekko always had a good heart. She can't imagine the pain he's gone through with this hell of a world they're in... and he still cared about people.
Powder couldn't help but feel herself start to doze off, maybe she wouldn't be in so much pain if she slept for a while.

"You mother fucker!" Vi shoved claggor against the wall.
"Vi stop!" Milo tried to pull her back but she punched him across the face.
"You knew! Both of you! You knew powder was alive!" Vi grabbed claggor by the collar of his shirt.
"I just found out today!" Claggor tried to get her off of him but she knees him in the side.
"Bullshit!" She snarled dropping him to the ground and looked back at Milo.
"Vi we didn't know! I found out when you found me before," Milo pleaded seeing her face all bloodied and the bullet wound on her arm.
Vi panted but covered her face with a small sob.
"I can't believe she's alive," she whispered leaning against the wall.
"FUCK!" She punched the wall enraged.
"I gave up because I thought she was dead too," vi inhaled deeply shaking her head.
"What... what did she say to you?" She asked in a broken voice looking at them both.
"She was looking for Ekko, she wanted to find him for something, I'm guessing he knew about her before us," claggor stood back up standing next to Milo.
"Well he fucking found her, she lit a torch for her location and he came for her, took her away," vi spat angrily.
"Vi, she didn't want to find you, she specified on making sure you didn't know, that's why she's going by jinx," claggor tried to reason.
"Cause she's god damn insane," Milo scoffed.
"She laughed at me, she seemed glad that I was afraid of her, like this was a joke, our lives are a joke to her, some fucking game," he rolled his eyes shaking his head.
"She's scary, that's not the powder we knew,"
Vi looked at them, claggor didn't seem as sad and grieving as Milo was, he seemed relieved that she escaped almost. Milo was distraught over it.
"I didn't even recognize her until Ekko said her name, she didn't act or talked like powder, she did treat it like a game till our fight got to far... I hurt her so bad," vi breathed in shame of her battle.
"When Ekko got there... I saw the powder that I remember, crying and begging for him to help her, if I knew I never would've done that stuff," she looked at her hands stuff covered in blood, paint dried to her from the bomb earlier.
"Do you know who Jay and Viktor is?" Vi asked.
"Never heard of them," claggor tsked. "There was only that enforcer girl with her, not sure who they are to each other, friends or just work partners,"
"Why would powder be with an enforcer?" She spat disgusted. Wait.. that had to be Caitlyn. Caitlyn looked to clean to be from zaun but an enforcer?
"Is she living topside?" Milo asked slowly.
"Seems that way," claggor shrugged.
"Topside? How the hell does an eleven year old from the undercity succeed in topside?" Vi scrunched her nose up.
"You think I know these answers? Ask her yourself unless you're just going to beat the shit out of powder again," claggor snapped back.
"Could she still walk when she was rescued?" Milo asked disappointed in Vi's violence to their little sister.
"Fuck I don't know, I dislocated her shoulder and punched her in the ribs.. I did pretty bad," vi covered her forehead and rubbed her face.
"Not even surprised, once you start swinging you don't stop till the other person is barely breathing," Milo huffed not able to look at her.
"I didn't know!" She yelled.
"Shes still tiny! You know you can hurt anyone that looks 50 pounds soaking wet!" Milo cried out.
"You probably broke her face you maniac," he glared.
"I thought you were afraid of that 50 pounds soaking wet, coward," vi sneered.
"So what are you going to do? Silco still wants her dead right?" Claggor remembered the rumor of them wanting jinx.
"Sevika more or less," she nodded but the images of jinx's face, no, powders face, her cries and screams.
"Ekko!" She sounded so desperate that she would've practically crawled to him. Her voice sounded weak and deprived for help, she probably thought she was going to die. And Ekko picked her up so easily, she didn't weigh a thing, she looked like little powder again. How could she not sense that was her sister.
"I'm going to find her first," vi nodded firmly.
