The feel of a little being, fitting in the palm of her hand, totally dependent upon her for its sefety, was exhilarating. Carol's mother helped her raise the baby squirrel. Together, they would squeeze milk into titbits tiny mouth and the little ones meals were done.

The baby squirrel began to recognise Carol and her mother and would squeal excitedly, when ever they approached her.

Her bedroom consisted of a glass aquarium and her bed was made of a cotton ball, in which she would disappear for hours, fast asleep.
