Prologue: Ancient Discovery
Outside of the walls, you were following a map shown by a strange device.
"How did the ancients make this map using light?" you asked yourself. "It's so fascinating."
You eventually made your way to a spot where the map is blinking constantly, but once you looked around, you saw nothing but empty fields. You then heard something moving and pulled out a gun that seems to hold six bullets.
"Who's there?"
You looked around and saw something move before shooting a tree and blasting off its branch. You then saw a person with hair tied into a ponytail and wearing glasses.
"Woah, that miniature rifle fired with such precision."
"What are you doing this far outside the walls?"
"I'm a member of the Survey Corps. How did you get outside the walls? The gates are the only way."
"...Are you going to tell everyone?"
"Not really. If there's a sneaky way to do it then I'll keep it a secret."
"Alright," you sighed. "There's a hidden network of tunnels that run all over underneath the areas inside the walls, and I think they were part of a forgotten escape route since they all lead to an area outside the walls."
"Who would've thought?" the person said, laughing. "There are hidden tunnels that lead outside the walls. I guess the Titans wouldn't notice that either."
She then noticed the device glowing in your jacket and snatched it.
"Is this a map used by the ancients?"
She aimed it around and upon aiming it down, something activated, and she fell through a hole that closed after she entered. After getting up and find a lot of high-tech equipment that seems to be working, you were left excited, but not as ecstatic as seeing her running around and looking at everything.
"This is amazing!" she shouted in awe. "The Ancients were really an advanced civilization. I wonder what is causing all of these machines to come to life."
"From some of their records, they are connected to a concept called "Power". Or more specifically, a controlled version of Lightning."
"This room isn't illuminated by candles or lanterns. So many wonderous things the Ancients were capable of. Now if I could just find a way to get my hands on the records and blueprints they created."
"Okay, I'll let you join me and find the ruins belonging to the Ancients, but please let me keep the map. I'll find a way to let you know where the next one might be. Then we'll come back and see what we can bring to our labs if you have one."
"Deal," she said, handing you the map. "The Survey Corps and the Military Police would find this the moment I returned."
You spent an hour searching for an exit and eventually escaped. The two of you went in different directions and you went back to your house and into your lab, which holds several relics.
After making it to the secret room in your lab, you wrote in your journal about your discovery.
"So today I was following the map to find another one of the Ancient's ruins. I ended up meeting this member from the Survey Corps who I ended up telling everything about the tunnels. She got her hands one the map and ended up being the one that opened the entrance to the ruins. So since we both have a common goal, we decided to team up and find them. She's eccentric, but she seems alright. Most of humanity worries about the Titans, but I am more concerned about finding more of the Ancient's ruins. Even if it means going far beyond the walls we have been encased in."
