Chapter 12 - The Rising Storm
The end of the day was approaching and the first light of twilight began to paint the sky to announce the night to come. But for some citizens of San Fransokyo, the time was not for the end of the working day, quite the contrary. At Hiro's home, it was time to prepare. The brutal kidnapping of Elsa by the men of the Apex Corporation had greatly shaken everyone. Aunt Cass had wanted to call the police, but she was made to understand that it would be pointless, that Walter Simmons was far too high up and trusted by far too many people to be charged.
Faced with the urgency of the situation and knowing that at any time, the titan known by the organization by the designation Titanus Gojira, Henri Serizawa and Doctor Jennifer Lewis were quickly returning to their agents and leaving by helicopter to their headquarters, whose location was kept secret, and put in place measures to try to stop the Apex Corporation. As the pouring rain began to fall over the city, in the helicopter, Henri Serizawa was worried, nervously fiddling with his grandfather's old watch in his hands. Sitting across from him, Lewis looked at him, also concerned.
_ "What do you think Simmons wants to do with Elsa?" she asked.
_ "I don't know, but we have to stop him." Serizawa replied gravely. "Simmons has no idea what he triggered. If Elsa isn't freed soon, or worse, if she is killed, the consequences will be more than dire, for the whole world ..."
_ "You mean ... do you think the legend is real? So the link between the queen and the beast would be real?" Lewis said.
_ "It's even a certainty, according to the writings that Ishiro left ..." Henri affirmed with a great flash of determination in his eyes. "Elsa is the only one who can reason with him and prevent him from causing the end of this world ... for the common good, the queen and the beast must be reunited again."
Meanwhile, at his house and as the rain fell over the city, Hiro had returned to his room, to get ready, donning his superhero armor. With him, Baymax, now fully recharged in energy, also finished equipping his armor, checking all stats one last time and raising his thumbs up, letting Hiro know he's ready.
Hiro, followed by Baymax, goes out into the backyard of the house, where were waiting all his other friends. Honey Lemon, Go Go, Wasabi and Fred, all also equipped with their hero outfits and ready for this new mission. Seeing them like this, Hiro walked up to them.
_ "Guys ... this time we are going to take on the most powerful corporation in the world. APEX. I wouldn't lie about our low chances of success and the consequences that will result from this mission, which is why, if you want, you can still agree to give up."
The others looked at each other, but didn't have long to think about it, having all already made up their minds and smiled at their friend.
_ "If you think we're going to let you down like this, then you're less clever than I thought." Go Go said first, with her cynical but not insulting touch.
_ "If we did that, Tadashi would come back from the afterlife to kick our ass." Wasabi said, also determined to come.
_ "And you forget it's the heroes' duty to take risks. Attacking the biggest corporation run by a bastard like Simmons? Fredzilla says, I'm up for it." Fred asserted forcefully.
Honey Lemon then walked over to Hiro, kneeling beside him and gently taking him by the shoulder.
_ "If I decided to stay behind, I could never forgive myself for it. After Tadashi died, I swore to him to always watch over you. So I come." Honey Lemon said in turn, a small tear emerging in her eye at the mention of Tadashi.
Hiro too felt that lump forming in his throat and smiled at Honey Lemon and hugged her.
_ "And you, Baymax? What do you say?" he then asked the robot behind him.
_ "Rescuing and helping people is part of my mission. And as a person, but also as our friend, Elsa needs us. There is no hesitation to be had." Baymax declared in his monotonous and artificial voice, but nonetheless imbued with humanity.
A friend ... indeed, even if they had not known her for a long time, despite her many secrets concerning her and even if their first meeting had been more than tumultuous, Elsa had shown herself to be a person eager to maintain above all peace and poise ... just like a real superhero would. No matter if she came from a different era or a different world, whether she possessed supernatural powers, she remained above all a person of conscience, with the right to freedom and equality. Hiro also blamed himself for being so pushy and suspicious of her, and wanted to right his mistake.
With that, and keeping everyone determined to step into action, the Big Hero 6 all turned, looking towards the far downtown area, and in particular towards the huge Apex Tower looming in the dawning night and rain. .. Elsa was there, a prisoner ...
Baymax spread his red wings from his back. Hiro climbed onto his back, while Honey and Wasabi held onto his strong arms. Go Go would move with her speed, and Fred could follow them with his super leaps.
_ "Big Hero 6 ... Let's go!" Hiro clamed. With that, the group of young superheroes rushed downtown, for what would surely be the most difficult and intense fight of their entire lives.

Meanwhile...
Further away, away from the city, was the large bridge of San Fransokyo, a real monument and symbol, connecting the island where the city was in Japan by crossing the arm of the sea that separated them. On this immense bridge held by large and thick metal cables, hundreds of cars and other vehicles were kept at a standstill, a traffic jam having created and triggering the horns of many cars, and the annoyance of their drivers.
Among the many vehicles was the black limousine in which sat in the leather backseat young Jenny Foxworth, who was puzzled by the sudden traffic jam and tried to look out the window, even though the rain steadily rained down. and the sudden rising of a mist prevented good visibility. With her in the back of the limo was her cat Oliver, who was innocently playing with his little ball, not caring about these human issues. Behind the wheel, the butler Winston waited annoyingly and sometimes honked his horn to try, unsuccessfully, to get the cars ahead.
_ "But what is happening again?" he groaned.
But very quickly, Jenny had the answer to these questions. On the bridge, between the cars, she saw a growing number of men equipped with uniforms and weapons, bearing the Apex Corporation logo on them. They had with them humanoid robots resembling intimidating large metal blocks, UB-86 models, also equipped with their weapons embedded in their cybernetic bodies. The soldiers and the robots of the corporation dispersed in several units across the bridge and took up positions, as if preparing to fight, under the gaze of all the intrigued drivers. But Jenny also noticed that several Apex helicopters were actively patrolling above the bridge and even seemed to be standing still, as if waiting for something.
_ "The Apex ... but what are they doing?" Jenny said, having a bad feeling.
Meanwhile, in one of the helicopters stationed above the bridge, one of the soldiers, equipped with a night vision sniper rifle, was watching the entire area intently. And suddenly he noticed the thing he was supposed to spot and hastened to activate his communicator in his headset.
_ "To all units ... I see it! Direction North, fast approaching!"
Immediately alerted, all Apex units took up position in the direction indicated, their weapons ready.
From their position, all the soldiers equipped with binoculars, could see the same thing ... in the midst of the rain, the night and the mist, something was approaching in the water ... something really huge, a row of large rocky points tearing through the water and continuing to advance towards the bridge. But once near the bridge, the peaks stopped for a few moments ...
From her seat inside her limo, Jenny watched all the soldiers and robots in the Apex take up positions on the same side of the bridge and stand in firing position.
While she was wondering, suddenly she felt, like everyone on the deck, a very violent tremor that shook the whole deck. At the same moment, an imposing column of water and vapor exploded, rising very high beside the bridge, as if a mountain had just emerged in a few seconds...
But very quickly, amazement and terror seized all on the bridge when the presence of this immense humanoid reptilian creature with black scales was revealed to them, the body dripping with water, and casting its massive shadow over the bridge. In the limo, Winston and Jenny stood petrified, an indescribable fear seizing them, by the sight as the shadow of the thing covered them. Oliver, frightened, came and snuggled up in Jenny's arms.
Barely emerged from the water and finally arrived at his destination, Godzilla let out a powerful roar that vibrated the whole deck and the ears of those on it, heightening their fear even more. Without wasting a moment, the soldiers, robots and helicopters of the Apex Corporation fired at the titan. A rampage of fire from rifles, machine guns, missile launchers and grenade launchers, all crashing into and exploding on the giant body of the creature. Soon the howls of panic and terror of the civilians in their cars were heard and many abandoned their vehicles and began to run as far as possible in utter chaos.
Faced with the battle that had just erupted on the bridge, Winston reacted and pushed the limo back as far as possible to get it away from the confrontation.
_ "Hang in there, Miss Jenny!" warned the butler.
The limo scuffed or collided with several vehicles, but managed to back up several meters, shaking Jenny who was holding Oliver in her arms and despite all the fear in her, could not look away from this great creature that had arisen from the waters.
For his part, Godzilla continued to undergo relentless onslaught from the Apex Corporation. But none of those weapons could hurt him, not even scratch his scales. But that didn't seem to deter those humans and their machines who kept raining fire on him.
All these explosions and the impacts on his body were really starting to piss off Godzilla who growled and roared more and more, fidgeting with fury, to the point of finally moving while literally advancing through the bridge, breaking it into two parts with ease in a violent shock.
The Apex soldiers and robots in the titan's passage could do nothing to avoid it and were thrown and swept away in the landslide of the damaged part of the bridge. A helicopter came too close to fire its missiles at Godzilla's head, but the titan, with a quick nod of his head, grabbed the flying craft in its jaws, crushing it and detonating it before dropping. the carcass on fire in the water.
Seeing him do it, the other helicopters decided to stay away, but still firing.
Godzilla continued to move forward through the water, completely ignoring the annoying but pathetic attacks of these humans ... he had no time to waste ... Elsa was close, he could feel it clearly ... the gaze of the king then turned to that great human city not far away, across the inlet ... Godzilla's gaze scowled, blowing forcefully with his nostrils and emitting a low growl ... she was over there.
Resuming his walk under the fires of the Apex Corporation, the King of the Monsters let out a new powerful roar, mingling with that of thunder that erupted in the cloudy sky of this rising storm.
Meanwhile, from his desk atop his tall tower, Walter Simmons stood, gazing through a pair of high-tech binoculars developed by his corporation. Thanks to her, he could observe what was passing in the distance, on the bridge. Seeing Godzilla begin his slow but sure walk towards the city, Simmons smirked.
_ "There you are ..." he breathed.
At the same time in another part of the tower ... still locked alone in her cell, chained and gagged, kneeling on the cold floor, Elsa suddenly opened her eyes wide, a moan of surprise and hope sounding behind her gag as despite the thick walls of the tower, a familiar but distant sound had reached her ears, and in her heart, a powerful spark had just awakened ...
Godzilla! she thought.
