Chapter 10 - Truth and Facts

When Honey Lemon, Go Go, Wasabi, and Fred finally arrived at the warehouse after receiving the call from Baymax, they were rather baffled by the presence of agents from the Monarch organization, which was considered illegal. Hiro had to explain to them as best he could to reassure them, and also tell them that the Shockwave bomb was no longer a problem thanks to the Monarch agents.

Following some explanations in order to dispel certain misunderstandings and reassured the spirits a little, Elsa and the Big Hero 6 had returned to Hiro's house, in the company of this professor Henri Serizawa and the doctor Jennifer Lewis. The other Monarch agents had not come with them, at Henri's request, and had returned to the helicopter to await the return of the two scientists.

In order not to worry his aunt Cass who was busy serving the customers in the cafe, Hiro had chosen to bring everyone in through the courtyard behind the house and the group had gone up to the apartment on the first floor and had all gathered in the living room. Baymax, however, had to get back into his box to recharge his batteries, but stayed awake to listen. Hiro, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Go Go and Fred, all in their civilian clothes, sat on the living room couch, still puzzled and waiting for explanations to come from the scientists at Monarch. Elsa had stepped aside a little, her eyes pensive and dark, her arms crossed and her back leaning against a wall.

Henri Serizawa and Jennifer Lewis, for their part, also remained standing, facing the sofa. The man held in his hand what looked like a laptop computer, but of a model hitherto completely unknown, even to Hiro.

A heavy and awkward silence had fallen over the living room for endless minutes, but it was Hiro who finally decided to break it by looking up at the two Monarch members.

_ "Okay, now you owe us an explanation. What does that mean and what exactly do you want from Elsa?" demanded the teenager eager for answers.

Henri understood well the insistence of the young hero, and after a look shared with his scientific colleague, decided to finally give them what they demand. He set down and opened the ultra-sophisticated laptop on the small living room table. A blue screen lit up, and sporting a small included holographic projector on its top.

Hiro and his friends shared the same wary looks, while Elsa stood back, still with her arms folded.

_ "If governments and big corporations, like Apex, present Monarch as an illegal and eco-terrorist organization, it is for a reason ... they are afraid." explained Henri Serizawa.

_ "Afraid of what? Of you?" Honey Lemon asked, her curiosity stirred.

_ "No. They're afraid of the truth." said Doctor Lewis in turn, stepping forward. "A truth about our world, that its leaders, over the centuries, tried to hide and permanently erased from our history ... Elsa, here present, is for example one of those truths that our society would like to hide, without want to disrespect you, your majesty."

Elsa didn't answer but made it clear that she wasn't offended. Hiro and the others looked at her with some puzzlement, making her feel uncomfortable.

_ "And what is this truth?" Hiro asked in turn.

_ "Magic and monsters exist." replied Henri Serizawa, who without further delay activated the holographic projector of the computer which projected, on the living room wall, a series of rather old-looking photos. The first showed that of an old military submarine, named Nautilus. Being really disturbed, the Big Hero 6 watched in silent.

_ "In 1954, for the very first time, a US Navy submarine, the Nautilus, managed to beat the deep diving record ... but during this test ... it woke up something. A very ancient thing, of the order of the myth, and yet it turned out to be very real." Henri said while scrolling through the images.

The following photos then showed a gathering of military ships on an archipelago of tropical islands, as well as photos of nuclear bomb explosions.

_ "As you know, between 1975 and 1996, nuclear tests were carried out in the bikini atoll, in French Polynesia ... that is what our history has taught us ... but Monarch has found the real truth ... it wasn't nuclear testing ... they were trying to kill HIM."

Hiro and his friends exchanged the same puzzled expressions, but felt that Serizawa's voice had grown much more serious and dark. Elsa, on the other hand, although she was in a state of hibernation at the time, easily guessed who he was talking about.

_ "Who ... who did they wanted to kill?" Wasabi asked.

The next photo was the response given by the scientists at Monarch. A photo taken from the shoreline of one of the atoll's islands ... offshore, a huge shape seemed to start to emerge, lifting and tearing the ocean in two ... a monstrous back dotted with giant spikes in appearance rocky ... Hiro and his friends were stunned by what they saw.

_"Him." Serizawa said, pointing to the shape with his finger. "An alpha predator, much ancient than humanity."

_ "The king of a great ancestral ecosystem, at a time when the earth was much more radioactive than now." Lewis said. "These creatures fed on this radiation, and over the millennia, as the radiation disappeared, these creatures disappeared from the surface, going to live underground to feed on the radiation emitted by the core of the planet."

Hiro and his friends remained silent in front of the explanations, not managing to hide their amazement. Elsa remained more low-key, but bit her lip at seeing those archival footage about Godzilla.

Henri Serizawa continued to show images, but this time they were much older. Photos of engravings taken on cave walls dating from prehistoric times, or on frescoes dating from the Roman, Egyptian, Greek eras or many other peoples cultures, sometimes separated by centuries of existence. But on each image appeared these same forms ... these giant, bestial-looking creatures, always represented as deities, prayed and worshiped by humans ... and among these monsters appeared the one shown in the nuclear test archives. ... he even seemed to have a lot of importance because he was put more forward than the others, as if he was their leader.

_ "This is why Monarch was founded, a long time ago, by two princesses: Rapunzel from the kingdom of Corona, and Belle from the kingdom of France ... in order to study and understand these entities and shed light on the true truth concerning our world ... and this ancestral king whas a name ... Elsa will be able to tell you that."

Attention then turned to her. Elsa sighed heavily and walked over to Henry and Lewis' side, looking at these photos of titan prints with a certain nostalgia in her eyes, especially for Godzilla. She then turned to her new friends.

_ "His name is .... Godzilla." she said very seriously.

At the mere mention of this name, which had surely not been spoken for centuries, everyone felt the same thrill run through them.

_ "Elsa ... do you ... do you know this thing?" Hiro asked then, lost and looking at Elsa as if finally he didn't recognize her anymore. She confirmed it with a shy nod of her head. An image was then shown by Serizawa, and it was a shock, as much for Big Hero 6 as for Elsa. The image from a new archive, but this time from an old painting that Elsa recognized immediately, because it was once in her castle. A painting of Godzilla and Elsa face to face, the young queen having closed her eyes and resting her forehead against the titan's muzzle. Immediately Elsa turned to Henry and Lewis.

_ "Where did you find this?" she asked, with growing annoyance.

_ "Our team discovered it during archaeological excavations in the castle, in a room which had been deliberately walled up to remain hidden forever." Lewis explained. "Apparently these items had been hidden to prevent their destruction."

_ "What do you mean? Explain yourself!" demanded Elsa.

_ "Well ... just a few years after the death of your sister, Queen Anna, the Arendelle monarchy was overthrown by a group of anarchists. They loudly proclaimed their hostility towards the titans and wished to erase all trace of their existence. But Anna's daughter, Iduna II, managed to hide several of these artifacts in this secret room, so that one day the truth could again be revealed ... the truth was saved, but that same day the monarchy and kingdom of Arendelle collapsed forever."

Elsa couldn't believe what she had just heard. The kingdom of Arendelle, gone forever? And she hadn't even been there to be able to do something ... heartbroken, the young woman felt her lips tremble, her hands tighten and tears born at the corners of her eyes ... Henri and Lewis felt sorry for her, but had to confess this most cruel but necessary truth to her.

_ "I ... if you want to excuse me ... I need to be alone ..." Elsa said darkly before starting from the living room. Hiro, although upset by all the revelations, got up from the couch and ran to her to hold her by the wrist.

_ "Elsa, wait ... I'm not sure I understand everything and think I'm sorry for what's happening to you, but you need to tell us more, especially about this ... this monster, Godzilla."

Elsa glared at him, at the way he said the word monster, like a judgment. She pulled her arm away from Hiro's hand with a certain abruptness.

_ "This monster, as you say, fought and suffered to protect my kingdom and this world, all this to allow these ungrateful beings that are humans, to survive ... these same humans who, I come from to find out, destroyed my world to replace it with this one ... I have no explanation for you. I don't want to anymore. Now, if you will allow it, I will return to my king... because after all, between monsters, we understand each other. "

With those rather harsh words from Elsa, Hiro didn't know what to say and watched her walk away, down the stairs to exit through the backyard of the house.

Once all alone, Elsa, scowling, walks through the door leading into the small outdoor courtyard behind the cafe, and hidden from everyone by a small concrete wall.

But hardly had she time to take a few steps in the direction of the small door leading to the street than three swift shapes and dressed in dark outfits appeared behind her. Two of them grabbed her by the arms, locking them behind her back, and one of them put his hand firmly on Elsa's mouth to keep her from screaming.

_ "HMMMPPH?!" then moaned the young woman with surprise and fear.

But she didn't even have time to react as the third figure quickly injected something into her neck. Immediately Elsa felt her senses blur and she lost consciousness without being able to fight. Once their target was asleep, two of the equipped, hooded men began to tie up Elsa's hands and legs so they could carry her. One of them also took a white cloth which he tied around Elsa's mouth to cover her screams in case she woke up earlier than expected. Meanwhile, the third man was activating his communicator on his headset.

_ "Team Shadow on report. Target acquired." he said.

_ "Perfect. Come back to the tower immediately." answered a voice in the communicator.

But suddenly the door to the house opened. Hiro had come to try to catch up with Elsa to talk to her and also to apologize.

_ "Elsa, I ..." but the young teenager was speechless at the sight of three dark-dressed men, one of whom was holding Elsa, bound and gagged, on his shoulder.

A brief silence fell in the courtyard, and suddenly the teenager gasped as he saw one of the men pick up his weapon, a machine gun. Immediately, Hiro leapt inside the house, shutting the door with his foot, as the bangs erupted and a hail of projectiles bombarded the door and the wall, creating multiple impacts. While remaining on the ground, Hiro shielded his head, while above him, the projectiles passed through the door. Once the shooting was over, the man ran with the other two to a black van parked right in front of the courtyard, into which they bounded with Elsa, trapped and still unconscious.

Alerted by the shooting, Hiro's friends, Henri and Lewis, but also Aunt Cass, ran to see Hiro get up, covered in dust but fortunately not injured.

_ "Hiro! Oh my god, are you okay?!" Aunt Cass asked, completely panicked as she approached her nephew.

_ "No, I'm fine, Aunt Cass, I assure you ..." he reassured her.

_ "Damn, Hiro, what happened?" Fred asked, seeing the state of the door and the walls punctured with projectiles.

_ "Men .... three ... they kidnapped Elsa ... I couldn't do anything!" the still shaken teen explained to them.

The news worried everyone, but very quickly, all could make the connection with the origin of the kidnappers.

_ "Simmons ..." grumbled Henri Serizawa, whose eyes darkened.

*************

Meanwhile...

As he swam in the dark, calm waters, Godzilla suddenly changed his expression, his eyes opening a little wider and emitting a deep, powerful growl that echoed in the watery darkness ... he had clearly felt it. ... Elsa was in distress ...

The King of the Monsters then accelerated his swim, driving away all the schools of fish in front of him, and feeling that he was approaching Elsa's position ... with a furious look, he was ready to unleash his fury on all those who would have the audacity to harm his queen.
