Chapter 20 - The Last Alliance

On the surface world, the situation had just drastically turned in an unexpected direction. Everywhere in the cities and places he had invaded with his waves of burning and poisonous mud, Hedorah had suddenly retreated, retreating until he completely disappeared from Monarch's radars by sinking into the depths of the earth. Humans and titans alike could not understand such a gesture on the part of this alien parasite, the latter having retained the advantage on all fronts and still managed to advance despite the damage suffered. However, Henri Serizawa seemed to have a theory, and then turned to the live broadcast of the cameras of the surveillance drones that were flying over the area of Tiamat's lair. Godzilla had just emerged, transformed and invested with a power so insane that no technological instrument was able to measure it. For Serizawa, it was obvious: Hedorah had sensed the emergence of this new power. Until now, the parasitic titan had shown no fear towards the human armies and the other titans who had fought it fiercely without success. Was it hiding from Godzilla now? Possible, but it was important not to jump to conclusions too quickly. It was impossible to really know what such an unknown creature from the depths of the cosmos could plan.

If on the one hand, something as powerful as this Hedorah could, according to Serizawa, express fear towards Godzilla's new power, fear was also born in the heart and mind of the director of Monarch. Was this new power of the king of monsters the ray of hope that the world needed... Or was it on the contrary its death knell? Looking more closely, Godzilla seemed very strange, agitated by a fury abnormal even for him and not even really seeming to be able to contain all the accumulated power, a permanent aura of purple radiation, with a slight crimson tint, surrounding him and melting the ice around him... It was almost as if... something else had taken over his mind...

Serizawa had studied the legends and myths surrounding the titans for a long time, and had become aware of one in particular. An ancient prophecy foretold by a witch from the extinct Dragan people, Maleficent, prophesied that Godzilla would be the last one being standing on a silent world of ashes and ruins. If until now the prophecy had been averted thanks to Elsa's presence with Godzilla, doubts now remained. Would Elsa still be able to appease Godzilla's spirit now that he had transformed?

Meanwhile, in the Iwi city of the Hollow Earth valley, Trapper had finally returned by shuttle, bringing with him the unique and precious prototype of the Powerhouse project: a gigantic yellow gauntlet, specially designed for Kong's arms, fully mechanized and reinforced with the same alloy that composed the Jaegers and the Kiryu mecha. As the shuttle approached, Ann, James and Jia hurried back to the small cliff overlooking the place where Kong was lying. The great ape was breathing very weakly, having lost consciousness.

_"Trapper, we don't have much time left." Ann said anxiously.

_"Here we go." Trapper answered in the shuttle's radio.

After a series of button presses, the thrusters and autopilot built into the giant gauntlet activated, detaching it from the shuttle and flying it to Kong's injured arm, surrounding it and the mechanisms fitting perfectly around it. Once the gauntlet was securely in place and securely fastened, Trapper moved on to the next step and activated another procedure from the dashboard.

_"Injections activated. This should cure the frostbite." he said.

_Vats built into the gauntlet, containing a green serum, opened and injected the product en masse into Kong's arm, then spreading throughout his body.

_"Trapper, are you sure?" James asked.

_"Don't worry, it's to give our friend Kong a good boost of energy." Trapper replied confidently.

As it worked, the gauntlet emitted mechanical sounds as well as electrical impulses, while Kong growled heavily, seeming to feel the healing effects of the serum and gradually regaining his senses. So in full work, the gauntlet emitted mechanical sounds as well as electrical impulses, while Kong growled heavily, seeming to feel the healing effects of the serum and gradually regaining his senses. The great ape slowly straightened up, still a little groggy but he was then able to stand up, using his now armored arm to lean on the cliff and stand up. Although still wobbling slightly, Kong quickly regained his strength and was able to stand up again, under the more than relieved gaze of Jia, Ann and James. Trapper, from the shuttle's cockpit, was also reassured to see that it worked and expressed his joy openly. Kong, in a quiet growl, looked perplexed at this metal gauntlet that now covered his arm.

_"It's not great aesthetically but it will do the trick." Trapper commented.

_"Okay, but now it remains to be seen whether he will like it or whether he will tear it off with his teeth." James added cautiously.

Ann shared her husband's caution. How would Kong react to this human thing that had clung to his arm? The tension was palpable for long seconds but finally, Kong brandished his armored fist in the air, roaring with force and even hitting the ground with the gauntlet, triggering a powerful electric wave on impact.

_"Ha! I think he loves it!" Ann then said enthusiastically.

It was a new relief for everyone. Jia smiled tenderly at the sight of his best friend fully regaining his means as their eyes met. But suddenly, the attention of James, Ann and Jia was drawn to the arrival of Queen Iwi but also Elsa. Immediately, the trio noticed the new outfit worn by the former queen of Arendelle, her crown and her ice horns, but also this titanic aura both overwhelming but reassuring that emanated from her. They felt it in the slight shiver that ran through their bodies... Although they recognized Elsa, they felt more like they had a titan than a human in front of them.

_"I... wow... Elsa... Is that really you?" Ann then asked.

Elsa didn't say a word, just smiled and nodded at them, especially Jia. Having fully received the blessing of the mother goddess Shimo and embraced the power of the titan of memory that complemented that of balance, the Elsa they knew was no more. She was now closer than ever to a titan than to a human, or even an Iss. A new sacrifice of her being, taken consciously, for the good of this world.

This silence from Elsa left James and Ann perplexed but Jia seemed to understand and smiled back. Elsa then advanced to the edge of the cliff, meeting Kong's gaze who in a friendly growl brought his head closer to the edge, having clearly felt Elsa's complete, powerful but friendly titan nature. She delicately touched and caressed Kong's muzzle with her hand, looking him in the eyes.

_"Glad to see you back among us, my old friend." Elsa said tenderly. "But unfortunately, I fear that the hardest part remains to be done."

Understanding perfectly what she wanted to talk about, Kong then signed with a gesture on his chest, to express a name: Skar King. Although having acquired these new abilities, both were aware that they could not defeat the Skar King alone, his army of followers, his apostle Raya and also Shimo still possessed by the influence of the crystal. They needed help and they knew perfectly well what to do. Jia came to join the conversation, coming to stand next to Elsa then looked at Kong, speaking to him in sign language. Seeing her do it, Ann came to see her.

_"Jia... what do you tell him?" she asked.

_*That we need help.* replied Jia.

Kong then roared and without further ado quickly left towards one of the vortices that apparently led to the surface world, under the astonished gaze of everyone.

_"But... where is he going?" James asked.

_"Godzilla won't come down here, unless Kong attracts his attention and manages to make him come." Ann admitted, not really reassured by the plan.

_"But I thought Kong was no longer allowed to come back to the surface... The last time those two fought, Kong could have died."

_"He knows what he has to do... As do all of us." Elsa then intervened, who remained surprisingly calm.

_"Elsa... You're the only one who can calm Godzilla down. Go with Kong to help him! He won't succeed on his own!" James then said, not understanding why she wasn't reacting.

Elsa looked at him, making him understand by her gaze that she wished she could do it but that something else was holding her here, and she made it clear by turning her attention to Jia, then the Iwi queen who nodded softly. Ann understood immediately, her heart tightening.

_"The prophecy..." she breathed. "It was indicated... According to the Iwis, only the chosen one will be able to awaken the goddess Mothra from her sleep. But she will only be able to do it with the help of the power of the titan of balance, the beginning of a new and perfect unity... So the time has come."

The Iwi queen confirmed with another nod and then held out her hand to Jia, inviting her to accompany her to prepare for the great awakening ceremony. Although Elsa wished with all her heart to join Godzilla, she knew that her place was here, her instinct as an accomplished titan dictating it to her. For the greater good, she had to accompany Jia in fulfilling her destiny. Gently placing her hand on the young Iwi's shoulder, Elsa smiled at her, showing her that she would be with her until the end.

_"Jia..." Ann said, her throat tight as she looked at her adopted daughter. "Are you sure you want to do this?"

_ *Lives are lost every second that passes, Mom. I can't stay here knowing that I could change things. This is my duty... This is what I was born for.* Jia signed, then came to snuggle against her in a loving hug.

James joined in the family hug, almost as if the two parents were saying a final goodbye to their child, which made Elsa's heart ache a little, although less affected by human emotions now. While hugging Jia lovingly, Ann looked up at Elsa who was standing back.

_"Please watch over her..." she breathed.

_"You have my word." Elsa replied solemnly.

Realizing that they were facing a force beyond the reach of ordinary mortals, James and Ann had no choice but to leave it to fate and let Jia go with Elsa and Queen Iwi to the great pyramid. Meanwhile, Kong had continued to climb nimbly and reached one of the vortices into which he dove without hesitation.

_"If Kong can lure Godzilla here, they'll have a better chance of stopping the Skar King and Shimo from reaching the surface." Ann said.

_"Yeah... Let's just hope this doesn't start another war in the meantime." James added.

For her part, Elsa prayed silently, hoping that Kong would manage to buy enough time with Godzilla to allow them to arrive and finally complete the last unity of the primordial titans.

Paris, France

It was a rather sunny day that bathed the great city of Paris this afternoon. As usual, thousands of tourists from all over the world came to visit the French capital and its monuments. In the gardens of the Louvre, many people came to admire and take pictures of the magnificently crafted commemorative statue of Princess Belle, a great lady of the nobility of yesteryear who had left her mark on the history of the country.

But suddenly, the surroundings of the Eiffel Tower suddenly began to tremble, causing fear and then panic among people when the ground collapsed on itself over a large perimeter, the opening of a Hollow Earth vortex being created. A few seconds later, Kong emerged from this vortex, hoisting himself onto dry land, observing the place where he had just arrived and seeing thousands of humans fleeing at his feet. Taking care not to crush them, Kong advanced to stand next to the Eiffel Tower. No trace of Godzilla, but he had a way to make him come to him. It was more than risky, even deadly, but he had no other choice. He had to provoke him.

Drawing on his strength, Kong then raised his armored fist in the air and let out an alpha roar, the loudest he could, which resonated in the air and spread for miles and miles around.

Far away, at the Strait of Gibraltar, Godzilla had just arrived, climbing to the top of one of the great cliffs overlooking the stretch of sea that separated Africa from southern Spain. But as he watched, the echoes of Kong's alpha roar reached him. Immediately, Godzilla's heightened senses went on alert, as did the residual chaotic rage of Destoroyah that now inhabited and possessed him. To Godzilla, this was a direct provocation. He was being openly challenged, on his territory... Again that monkey, again that Kong... He would definitely never learn where his place was... He had spared him, promising him a peaceful life if he stayed off the surface... Although they had been allies more than once, there was no room for two alphas on the same territory... This time, it was enough... He was going to have to pay with his life for this ultimate affront!

Roaring also with ferocity and power to answer his rival, Godzilla let the intense radioactive aura around him burst, still tinged with the crimson aura of chaos, and dove from the top of the cliff directly into the inlet, raising masses of water in the air. With a rapid swim, boiling the water in his wake, Godzilla set off towards France, determined to show Kong why he is the one and only king of the monsters.

On the large square of the Iwi city, the atmosphere was filled with a heavy aura and full of hope. Having put on a large cape of yellow Iwi fabric, Jia was on her knees, receiving the last sacraments and blessings from the priestesses of her people, the Iwi queen herself coming to mark the forehead of the young chosen one. Next to her, Elsa waited, ready to accompany Jia when the time came. Around them, James, Ann and Trapper, surrounded by the indigenous population, watched in perfect silence. Once Jia was ready and getting up on her feet, all the Iwis without exception bowed their heads in absolute mutual respect, welcoming the birth of their chosen one. Seeing their adopted daughter like this squeezed James and Ann's hearts even more but also gave birth to a great feeling of pride in them. If only Kim were there to see how much her little sister had grown. Taking a deep breath, Jia then looked up at Elsa. The time had finally come.

Side by side, under the gaze of all, the Chosen One of the Iwis and the Titan of Balance stood at the foot of the countless steps of the dizzying crystal pyramid, where at its summit awaited them the crystalline cocoon of Mothra. Holding hands, united as never before, the two women began the ascent of the steps, their sure gazes fixed on the summit. The nervousness was more than palpable in the eyes of Ann, James and Trapper, but also the hope that everything would work.

_"They're going to make it. It has to work." James whispered.

_"Only the Chosen One of the Iwis, supported by the power of the Titan of Balance, in a perfect union, will be able to create the last and ultimate alliance of the primordial titans. Godzilla... Kong... Mothra... Rodan... Elsa... Jia... Separated they are strong, but together... They are the six keys to our common future." Ann said, reciting again the Iwi prophecy described on the frescoes.

Finally, after a slow and trying climb, Elsa and Jia, without failing and without giving up, finally arrived in front of the great crystal cocoon. The latter, as if reacting to the presence of the two women, suddenly shone with a slight golden glow, revealing two ethereal silhouettes, like ghosts. Elsa recognized them immediately. Miana and Maina, the twin priestesses of the goddess. Their physical bodies had long since died but their spirits remained forever at their goddess's side, alive through her. Without a word but in perfect understanding, Miana and Maina approached Elsa and Jia, greeting them with respect and then came to touch them with their hands, granting them Mothra's blessing. The spirits of the two priestesses merged into a volute of golden light that floated and surrounded Elsa and Jia, imbuing them with their divine grace. Supported by the power of the two priestesses, Elsa and Jia concentrated, coming in unison to each place a hand on the hard, warm surface of the cocoon.

Perfectly coordinated, Elsa and Jia entered into communion with the cocoon. Although still very young, Jia could fully count on Elsa's power to help her succeed. It shone more and more, like a real sun that covered the valley with its warm and divine rays. The pyramid also reacted, shining entirely and forcing the population to protect their eyes as the light was so intense. A graceful and melodious non-human song then resonated, at first in an ethereal way, then more and more carnal, like the answer to a call...

The crystal cocoon cracked from side to side, its envelope evaporating into golden dust carried into the air, while from its bosom, wrapped in her celestial luminous aura, Mothra unfolded with all the majesty and grace that only she could demonstrate. At the bottom of the pyramid, the spark of hope formed in everyone's eyes and smiles, Ann not even being able to prevent a tear of joy from flowing. James and she were so proud of their daughter.

Shining like a star, Mothra emitted a soft melodious moan then came to rest on the top of the pyramid, her gaze meeting that of Elsa and Jia, greeting them like two old friends. Having been seriously injured in the battle against Destoroyah, Mothra had chosen to come here to recover her strength, waiting for the day when she would be needed again, also having knowledge of the prophecy and that therefore her place was here.

_"Gentle Queen Mothra..." Elsa greeted respectfully. "We come here; humbly before you, to ask for your help. The cold and darkness are upon us and threaten to engulf this world. Alone we will be powerless, which is why the call for unity of the primordial titans has to sound... one last time."

Jia watched Elsa with pride and also feeling galvanized after having managed to fulfill the first part of her destiny. Mothra had listened, expressing her blessing through another melodious moan, then invited Elsa and Jia to climb on her back, which they did. There was no time to lose, they had to reach Godzilla and Kong as soon as possible before the worst happened. So, under everyone's gaze, Mothra flew off at speed in the direction of the same vortex that Kong had taken.

At the same time, the Iwi Queen began to give orders to her warriors through precise and concrete gestures that were understood and without further ado, the Iwis began to quickly go in all directions to gather as much stuff as possible.

_"She's evacuating the city. When Godzilla and Kong arrive, the whole area risks becoming a war zone." said Ann.

The Iwi Queen then turned to James, speaking to him through signs and clearly indicating the implication of the crystal pyramids and their impact on gravity.

_"Oh okay... the pyramids, gravity... Ok, I get it, it's brilliant!" said the scientist, enthusiastic.

_"You'll explain it to me on the way." said Ann.

_"Uh, for my part, I'm going to take the HEAV to get reinforcements." suggested Trapper, staying behind.

_"On the surface? You'll never have time." said Ann.

_"Oh no, I had a much crazier idea than that in mind." Trapper then replied with a smile on his lips.

***************

Meanwhile, in Paris, fear and panic had taken hold of the inhabitants as Godzilla gradually went up the course of the Seine, tearing the water with his spines, capsizing all the boats and destroying all the bridges in his path without caring about the victims he caused. Eyes shining with intense rage, he saw only his rival and what he was about to do to him... Kong, sensing Godzilla's rapid approach, was quite nervous but remained focused, casting a glance towards the vortex not far away. The water of the Seine burst, Godzilla emerging with fury and starting to charge straight ahead, crushing everything and destroying the buildings in his path without paying attention. Roaring in anger, the chaotic aura emanating from him, Godzilla accelerated his race. Kong tried in vain to calm him down and show him the position of the vortex, Godzilla was completely blinded by his rage and it was without the slightest hesitation that he hit Kong head-on like a rugby player, making them both pass through the Eiffel Tower which burst and collapsed with a monumental crash.

Thrown by the force of the charge received, Kong's back brutally hit a building. Godzilla, possessed, charged again but Kong had the reflex to grab a handful of rubble in his hands, throwing them straight into Godzilla's eyes who was blinded and in turn accidentally hit a building. Enraged, shaking his head, Godzilla roared and wanted to deliver a bite, but Kong interposed his armored arm on which the powerful jaws of the king of monsters closed. The gauntlet resisted rather well, but Godzilla managed to push Kong back until he pinned his back to a building. Using this, Godzilla managed to lift Kong in a real suplex and made him fall heavily to the ground.

Dazed, Kong regained his senses just in time to avoid Godzilla's foot that threatened to crush his face. Annoyed by all this, Kong shifted into high gear. Concentrating his strength into his armored gauntlet, which emitted electric sparks, the great ape delivered a violent punch to Godzilla's jaw, who was thrown to the ground. Wasting no more time, Kong leapt on Godzilla to pin him to the ground and hammered him with several brutal blows in order to stun him as much as possible.

Once done, the king of the monsters seemed weakened, Kong decided to bring him himself to the Hollow Earth, pulling him by the tail. However, the great ape felt a burning heat rise in the air as Godzilla's spinal spines glowed intensely, as did his eyes. All Kong had succeeded in doing was making him even more mad with rage than he was. Expressing his inner chaos, Godzilla released a super-powerful atomic breath towards Kong, who miraculously managed to avoid it by throwing himself into cover and running behind buildings that were all pulverized by the power of the beam.

However, bursting out of the air at high speed, the titan Rodan came at full speed behind Godzilla, colliding with him and biting him deeply in the neck with his beak. Godzilla let out a roar more in anger than pain and grabbed Rodan to throw him roughly to the ground. Rodan tried to get up but Godzilla charged at him and slammed into him, crushing him against the remains of an already damaged building and leaving the fire titan half-dazed. Trying to take advantage of Rodan's distraction, Kong leapt towards Godzilla but received a violent swipe from the latter's tail, throwing the gorilla to the ground.

Kong regained his senses and tried to stand up, but Godzilla's massive foot crushed his chest violently, once... twice... gasping for breath, stuck on the ground, Kong saw death coming as Godzilla, the dominant one, charged his atomic breath to end this confrontation once and for all...

But suddenly, everything changed when a shockwave accompanied by a blinding golden light occurred, pushing Godzilla away from Kong and throwing him to the ground. At first blinded, Kong and Rodan, as they stood up, saw Mothra descend from the sky in turn and land on the top of a building. She then let Elsa and Jia get off her back while Godzilla stood up again, angry at having been attacked in this way and emitted a most bloodthirsty roar. Kong and Rodan stood ready but suddenly...

_"Godzilla, stop!"

Elsa then stepped forward, coming out of Mothra's light and coming to stand at the edge of the building's roof. Seeing her, Godzilla seemed indifferent at first, his anger not going down and even coming to approach his head and roaring ferociously at her. But Elsa did not flinch, remaining straight and her gaze both firm but tender towards her king whom she loved with all her heart. Jia, standing back near Mothra, waited to be able to intervene if necessary. Kong and Rodan did nothing, waiting to see how things would go but remaining cautious...

Thanks to the bond she shared with him, Elsa could clearly feel the chaos that permeated Godzilla's heart and that had mixed with his new power... Residues of Destoroyah's evil influence had clung to him, poisoning him and trying to survive by feeding on his fury, accentuating it at the same time, as if what remained of Destoroyah was trying to take possession of him...

Elsa then looked towards Jia, holding out her hand. The young Iwi then stepped forward to stand next to her. Godzilla's angry but confused gaze turned to Jia, then to Mothra, Kong and Rodan, before returning to the two women.

_"Godzilla... I have always believed in you..." Elsa said lovingly. "You alone have the power to lead us, to save us all... You are stronger than this power, stronger than this chaos..."

Then, feeling that she had to do it, Elsa turned her attention to each of the primordial titans who, as if attracted by her power, gathered around her.

_"Titans protectors of the world, the time has come to restore the absolute truth!" Elsa announced loudly.

With these decisive words, Elsa fully released her power as titan of memory, making each primordial titan see the truth as she had seen it within the crystal of the pyramid by Shimo's will. Crossed by these flashes of lucidity, the four titans saw clearly now, what they once were, the role that Skar King had played in their misfortunes and what Shimo represented for them... their mother to all...

The chaos residing in Godzilla faded little by little, chased away by this powerful and sincere truth that Elsa had finally released and shared with the titans. Calming down, the king of the monsters then brought his head closer to Elsa, expressing a soft growl. Elsa, smiling and also appeased, came to gently press her forehead against Godzilla's muzzle, both sharing this moment of reunion that they had hoped for so much.

_"I love your new look, Godzilla. You're still as handsome as ever." Elsa whispered softly with tenderness.

The king of the monsters expressed an affectionate growl, responding reciprocally to Elsa. With tensions eased and calm restored, the time had now come. Elsa and Jia, side by side and Mothra behind them, stood straight, ready. Kong stood to their left, then Rodan to their right. Facing them all, Godzilla saw that they were only waiting for his signal, the approval of the king of monsters and his proclamation of the birth of the new and final unit of primordial guardians. Feeding this time on all the hatred he felt towards the Skar King, Godzilla looked up to the sky, expressing his most powerful roar. Accompanying him, Kong, Rodan and Mothra also saw their voices heard across lands and seas, while in their midst, Elsa and Jia, holding hands, saw themselves as witnesses to this decisive moment in the history of this world. As it was prophesied long ago, millennia ago, the last alliance was born!
