Chapter 19 - Legacy of Destinies part 1

This vision of apocalypse, this great human city once teeming with life reduced to an ocean of silent ruins covered in ash and dust, left Godzilla contemplative and lost in thought. This inexorably sent him back to visions of his own past, a long time ago, when humanity was still a baby... A sin that had always weighed on him.

While he was a young titan living in the Hollow Earth, he one day met a beautiful female water dragon named Sisu. A bond was born between the two reptiles, which gradually evolved into a strong and sincere love. But these days of happiness did not last and one day, Destoroyah appeared.

Despite their combined strength and powers, Godzilla, Kong, Rodan and Mothra, the four primordial titans, were unable to stop the abomination which then caused significant devastation in the Hollow Earth, devouring and annihilating a large number of living beings. Despite all the attacks, Destoroyah seemed indestructible, impossible to beat. Many lives were lost, including that of Sisu, who perished from Destoroyah's hand while fighting alongside the titans. Destroyed by the loss of the one he loved without being able to do anything to save her, something broke at that moment in Godzilla, releasing an indescribable fury and thus unleashing his true power linked to the energy of the Hollow Earth which was contained within him. A rage that would never leave him, condemning him to an immortal and solitary life, at least, until he met a soul strong and pure enough who was capable of making him see the light again and love him for what he is.

Oh Elsa... where could she be now? This thought crossed the king of monsters as he came back to the present moment, emitting a mournful growl. Kong's hand rested on his shoulder, the large gorilla emitting a growl, as if to let Godzilla know that he was not alone. Godzilla nodded slowly. Never again would he show weakness... He had already lost everything once, and he would not allow that to happen again.

Meanwhile, still in the Void dimension, holding Jia snuggled in her arms, Elsa had run as far as her legs could carry her, in the middle of this empty and endless space. She no longer saw Moana or Chernabog, but she could still hear the sounds of the clash echoing in the distance. Elsa blamed herself for leaving her friend against this demon but she was right, the most important thing was to protect Jia and get out of this place. Their kings needed them!

_"Here you are." then said a feminine and non-hostile voice.

Elsa and Jia then saw this floating figure arrive in a veil of flames and stand before them. She had the appearance of a very graceful, slender young woman with long red hair and dressed in a scarlet dress, and from her back extended wings made of fire. However, her face was obscured by the hood she wore on her head. At first wary, Elsa took a step back and protected Jia.

_"Don't worry, I'm a friend of Moana and I'm here to help you." added the red woman.

Although hearing the sincerity in these words, Elsa was most disconcerted and felt her throat tighten... This voice, this posture, this red hair... No, was it... it couldn't...

_"Who... Who are you? Show your face." Elsa demanded in a trembling voice.

_"You already guessed it, I know it." the woman replied smiling and lowered her hood to reveal her face. "I'm happy to see you again...big sister."

Elsa's heart leapt in her chest and her eyes widened as tears welled up in her eyes. Anna! It was Anna who stood before her, young, beautiful and smiling as she had always known her. Legs trembling from shock, Elsa fell to her knees and Jia worried, coming to support her while Elsa covered her mouth, in tears and unable to look away from Anna who approached her and smiled. Jia watched a little confused but was touched by the scene of seeing the two women looking at each other, touching each other and hugging each other with strong and sincere love. Elsa, still in shock, touched Anna's face again as if to make sure she was real. It couldn't be true, she had witnessed Anna's end of life centuries ago.

_"I... how... how is this possible?" Elsa wailed through her tears.

_"You have magical powers and the world is governed by giant, immortal, thousand-year-old creatures. I thought nothing could surprise you anymore." Anna joked softly.

Dear Anna, always true to herself, but that in no way explained what she was doing here and in this mystical form to say the least.

_"But... I saw you that day... you are..." Elsa stammered.

_"Dead, yes I am, physically at least." Anna confessed. "I remember arriving here, in this world... and then, let's just say... it seems that I was chosen."

_"Chosen? What do you mean? Who chose you?" Elsa asked, perplexed.

_"Me, my dear." then said an unknown voice, feminine and full of kindness and wisdom.

First surprised, Elsa and Jia contemplated with astonishment the manifestation of a multitude of luminous and transparent spheres, flying like fireflies and coming together to gradually form a physical form which appeared in a radiance of white light. She was a human-looking woman, old, short and sturdy, with fair skin, black eyes and white hair worn in a bun. She was dressed in a large hooded dress with loose sleeves in a light blue-purple color and featured a magenta bow at the collar. In one of her hands, she held what might have appeared to be a simple thin white stick, but which turned out to be a magic wand emitting small sparks of light at its end with each movement.

Jia remained stunned by this appearance but Elsa immediately reacted with suspicion, protecting the young girl and was ready to act in the event of hostility from this foreign woman but Anna immediately reassured her big sister by gently holding her by the arm.

_"Everything is fine, Elsa. She's a friend." Anna said.

Elsa had complete trust in her little sister but still held Jia's hand to keep her close and remained cautious without completely showing it. The old woman showed a friendly smile as she came before the goddess and the girl.

_"Who are you?" Elsa asked.

_"Oh I don't really have a name but you can call me Fairy Godmother." replied the woman, revealing herself to be a fairy. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you in person, Queen Elsa, and of course you too, young Jia. Your reputations and exploits precede you, as do your two kings."

Jia was shy but also surprised to be able, despite her birth deafness, to be able to hear the voice of the fairy resonating in her mind.

_"But... I thought fairies were just legends." Elsa said without wanting to offend.

_"Just like you thought the monsters were when you were a kid." the Fairy Godmother chuckled kindly. "And yet... The world has many words to describe it but ordinary is not one of them. It has always been filled with magic and mystery but evil souls have always unfortunately tried to bury and forget them."

_"But... wait, does that mean that my sister is a...?" Elsa then said looking towards her sister.

_"Indeed, and it's the same for Moana." admitted the Fairy Godmother without trying to deny it. "When a human body dies, its spirit is transported here, to the Void, or as some humans call it, Purgatory, where souls wait to be granted paths to Heaven or Hell. If the This person's soul is devoid of all obscurity and imbued with value and the actions of the life he may have led, he can be granted the privilege of being reborn in a new form. Thus, upon her death, by her actions and her life, your sister has proven herself worthy of being entrusted with such power, as I once was, a long time ago. If the Titans are the guardians of earthly existence, we, the Fairies, from the will of our All-Mother Te Fiti, are the guardians of spiritual existence, protecting dreams, hopes, wishes... All this is not the result of simple chance, my children. Te Fiti had already seen it all, in the rising waters of Ahtohallan, during the First Chants of the World."

What a story, Elsa and Jia thought. Once they would have thought it was too crazy to be true, but after everything they had already witnessed, the impossible didn't mean much anymore. After these explanations, Anna then approached Elsa and Jia.

_"I know this is a lot to digest, Elsa, but trust me." Anna said with conviction. "Unfortunately there is no time for further explanation. We absolutely must return you both to the earthly world, where you belong."

_"But... and Chernabog?" Elsa said, then looked towards Jia. "I thought I was his target, but it turns out he's mostly after Jia and I don't know why."

All attention was then focused on young Jia who felt more confused than anyone, and in sign language, with tearful eyes and consumed by despair, she swore that she had no idea why this demon was after her. Seeing her break down nervously from confusion and constant fear, Elsa knelt down and pulled her close, hugging her to comfort her. Anna and the Fairy Godmother had been watching Jia and both shared the same puzzled but thoughtful look.

_"You felt it too, didn't you?" Anna said.

_"Yes." replied the fairy. "The power of this child is beyond anything I could have imagined. I now understand why Chernabog is so interested in her. Time is against us now. Anna, you and Moana, I entrust Jia to you. Keep her close and protect her at all costs. As for you, Queen Elsa, I fear a different path calls you. You must come with me."

Elsa, while holding Jia in her arms almost like a mother carrying her child, looked at the fairy in shock.

_"You want me to leave Jia here? That's out of the question, she's coming with me!" Elsa demanded.

_"I'm sorry but where we're going is up to you, not her." admitted the fairy, sorry but sincere. "Jia's place is here, don't worry, Anna and Moana will watch over her. But you, Queen Elsa, your own destiny calls you... and it could well decide the fate of the King of the Monsters."

Godzilla! Elsa panted anxiously, fearing the worst that could happen to her king which she didn't know was his situation at the moment. She was really hesitant to leave and leave Jia behind, but also wanted to return to Godzilla as soon as possible and support him. Seeing the distress in her big sister's eyes, Anna came to support her morally.

_"Go, big sister. Nothing will happen to Jia." Anna said softly. "You too, I know you will not disappoint me. Return to Godzilla and both of you, fulfill your duty. Save the world, as you always have."

_"But... I... no..." Elsa stammered in tears. "I just found you...I can't lose you again..."

Anna gently pressed her forehead against Elsa's, letting her cry but also comforting her.

_"You never lost me, Elsa." Anna said tenderly, then placing her hand on Elsa's heart. "I have been and always will be with you."

Elsa, although comforted a little by her sister's words, continued to shed tears then turned to Jia, who despite the fear, seemed to take the side of the two fairies and spoke in sign language.

_*You have to go, Elsa. If Godzilla and Kong's lives are in danger, you have to go support them. What is happening is completely beyond our control and we must not let our emotions take precedence over our duty as guardians.*

Elsa couldn't stop a smile from forming on her lips and showing admiration for Jia. Such great wisdom at such a young age... She almost saw herself again, a princess with the soul of a queen ready to fulfill her duty. After a final embrace shared with Jia, Elsa leaned back towards the Fairy Godmother who then began to chant a spell.

_"Bibidi Babidi Boo!"

Sparks of fairy light burst from the wand in radiant swirls that grew faster and faster and enveloped Elsa and the fairy in a blinding whirlwind within moments, making them disappear as if they had never been there, all under the look from Jia, who was then joined by Anna who with her eyes showed her unfailing support. It was at this moment that in a wave of water animated by a will of its own that Moana returned, running quickly towards the two girls.

_"Finally here you are!" she said, relieved. "But where is Elsa?"

_"The Fairy Godmother took her, as planned." Anna reassured her. "Tell me, what is the situation here?"

Moana didn't have time to respond when a monstrous roar echoed and a storm of yellow lightning erupted in the black cloudy sky. The three girls then watched in shock as the demon Chernabog suddenly fell from the sky to the ground, with King Ghidorah on top of him and pinning him to the ground with his powerful paws. The two entities were now engaged in a fierce struggle. The sight of the three-headed dragon brought back bad and distant memories in Anna, but which she managed to ignore and stayed close to Jia to reassure her.

_"What is Ghidorah doing here? I thought he was in hell!" Anna gasped.

_"Well... it seems we're not the only ones who can't accept Chernabog's rise to power." replied Moana with a hint of a smile as she saw the two giant creatures fighting.

***********

Once the veil of luminous fairy magic faded like a cloud of smoke, Elsa found herself in a most familiar place, immediately recognizing the floor, walls and ceiling composed of both rock and ice.

_"Ahtohallan..." the queen breathed, more than confused as she turned to the Fairy Godmother who was standing nearby. "But...why did you bring me back here? This isn't where Godzilla is."

_"Indeed." replied the fairy bluntly. "But I brought you here for a reason. Someone really wanted to meet you, my dear. A person who shares a very strong commonality with you."

_"Which?" asked the queen.

_"You are not the first with whom Godzilla shared a bond." was the answer the fairy gave, and Elsa guessed its meaning without any problem and remained perplexed.

The fairy, with a wave of her magic wand, then revealed the entrance to an ice tunnel that Elsa had never seen before, even though she knew the place well since she lived there. Elsa approached the entrance to the secret tunnel, only to see an ice staircase descending into the dark depths of the frozen river.

_"She is waiting for you." then said the fairy.

Indeed, when Elsa dared to approach the first step, she saw with surprise the ice walls light up with a shy but real glow dancing through the ice, while a feminine and ethereal voice resonated in the air in a a most familiar song she had once heard her call to, a long time ago.

Without turning around or saying a word and under the gaze of the Fairy Godmother, Elsa began her slow and careful descent on the ice steps into this intimidating but fascinating tunnel. As she advanced, the singing became more and more perceptible and closer. Still in complete silence, Elsa continued to descend for minutes on this staircase which seemed to never end. How many steps she went down, no idea. Around her, the moving lights continued to follow her in the ice walls, dancing like trickles of water. Elsa felt more and more observed by an invisible but very real presence all around her, but curiously, she did not feel in danger. The air was infused with a benevolent magic, Elsa could clearly feel it as palpably as if she were touching solid matter. This magic was also powerful and ancient, much older than her own.

It was in a spirit of great curiosity that Elsa finally arrived at the bottom of the steps to enter a much larger gallery of rock and ice. She also noticed the abundant presence of imposing crystals made of ice and also seeming to be filled with this liquid and dancing magic, of a glowing and magnificent blue. But Elsa very quickly noticed a phenomenon as she walked among these giant crystals. In these, images seemed to be formed by the moving liquid, displaying events that Elsa recognized immediately. Her first encounter with Godzilla. Anna and Kristoff's wedding. The Battle of Arendelle against King Ghidorah. Her bond being formed with Godzilla. Mothra. Rodan. Discovering the Enchanted Forest. The San Fransokyo and Hong Kong incidents. The meeting with Jia. The awakening of Destoroyah and the arrival of SpaceGodzilla.

Elsa remained speechless in front of these past events that she herself had experienced and that she saw reflected and moving in the ice crystals. Water has memory. Elsa remembered this sentence that Olaf had said once. It was true, water embodied the past, present and future at the same time. Nothing surprising coming from the element being at the very origin of life.

However, upon arriving further into the crystal room, Elsa then contemplated visions of things of which she had no memory. In the first, she thought she could make out the form of Godzilla, locked in an immense block of ice, as if in hibernation. The second was like an image of Godzilla and Kong, together, running towards a fight. The third was the silhouette of Elsa, who seemed to be holding, delicately in her arms, a small reptilian and humanoid form, like a mother holding a baby in her arms. In another vision, Godzilla stood by a river alongside a female blue dragon and the two appeared to love each other.

But in the last vision, Elsa saw a sort of immense room plunged into heavy semi-darkness. The place was strewn everywhere with the bones of giant creatures, like an ocean of death. And at the back of this room, Elsa saw them... A human and feminine figure, covered with a cape, wearing a conical hat and armed with a sword. She stood at the foot of what looked like a gigantic, dilapidated throne between two broken columns. And on this throne sat this thing... A titanic creature, ape-like in appearance but which however did not turn out to be Kong. The thing then opened its glowing blue eyes and looked up. Elsa flinched when the creature's gaze seemed to meet hers. She had never seen such a degree of hatred in a single look. She was even more unsettled when she saw the two titans Leatherback and Otachi appear in the vision, walking towards the ape titan's throne and bowing before him in submission as the giant ape's eyes began to glow even more.

Although troubled by all these latest visions for which she found no explanation, Elsa had to continue her exploration of the secret depths of Ahtohallan while following the ethereal song which continued to call her. Many minutes later, Elsa finally arrived in another room of ice and rock, even larger, whose design and shape were reminiscent of a kind of temple. Elsa advanced into this mystical place imbued even more strongly with this magic and this ancient aura, feeling that it was the very source. When the song sounded again, the ice walls of the temple lit up even brighter with moving and magnificent lights, revealing the majesty of this place. Elsa was speechless, looking around and unable to believe that such a place existed right under her feet without her being aware of it. What about Godzilla? Did he know this place existed?

A fine, calm stream of water crossed the room and flowed peacefully. But it was in the middle of the temple that Elsa made the most incredible discovery. Two statues, erected in ice, representing two beings embracing each other, united in a love that seemed strong and deep. Elsa recognized one of these two beings... It was Godzilla! The other creature looked like a female dragon with a serpentine body and blue mane. The female dragon statue had her body wrapped around Godzilla and snuggled up to him while the King of the Monsters stood majestically and hugging her.

Elsa approached the statues to see them better. She had never sculpted this with her magic, besides the magic that emanated from this thing was not hers, she could feel it by touching it. But then... who had done this?

_"Welcome, Elsa, queen of Arendelle and titan of balance." a feminine voice then proclaimed in the temple, unknown but tinged with benevolence. That same ethereal voice that sang before and was calling her. Elsa looked around her.

_"Who... who is there?" Elsa asked. "It's... you're the one who called me, I know your voice."

_"I've been waiting for this day to come for a long time." then said the ethereal and soft voice. "It is an honor to finally meet the one who took care of my beloved king for all these years."

Suddenly, the water in the small stream began to quiver, then more and more drops began to rise and float in the air as if weightlessness had disappeared. Elsa watched in amazement as the water of the stream rose little by little in dancing filaments and seemed to have a life of its own and swirled around the columns and statues of the temple. Eventually, the filaments became spheres of water that came together and merged, emitting a blue glow so blinding that Elsa had to shield her eyes. The air was once again imbued with this ancestral magic to a degree never felt before. The glow finally broke and a thick, damp mist billowed into the temple, making visibility very dim for a moment. Elsa coughed, wiping her eyes and trying to get her bearings in this smoky meander. But it was the return of this enchanting blue glow that guided her and made her turn her gaze in one direction. From the mist, a reptilian form walked on all fours, several meters tall and with a magical glow emanating from its body. The creature finally revealed itself to Elsa, who opened her eyes wide in astonishment.

This reptilian and serpentine body. This horn on the forehead. This azure blue fur and mane. That smiling face and those kind eyes. Elsa immediately recognized the female dragon who was represented as an ice statue alongside that of Godzilla. Elsa didn't know how to react, totally confused, but couldn't hold back her admiration for the beauty of this dragon. The latter came to her without hostility, smiling at her and even greeting her with a bow of her head.

_"Nice to finally meet you, Queen Elsa. My name is Sisu, the water dragon." the creature said kindly.
