Chapter 13 - God vs King part 2

Hands cuffed behind their backs, Kim and Ron were escorted by Shego and a group of armed guards to a control room filled with computers where Drakken men were working. A large bay window at the back gave an overview of the large test arena, in which the Mechagodzilla was located, for the moment in inactive mode.

Feeling the barrels of the guns behind them, Kim and Ron were forced to walk over to Walter Simmons, standing in front of the bay window, a glass of whiskey in his hand and sipping quietly. He turned to see the two prisoners that Shego was bringing to him.

_"So, who is trying to destroy my plans this time? Green Peace again?" commented Simmons coming to see them.

_"If only, but you see, I'm even worse than them." Kim said defiantly.

Simmons frowned not in anger but in question, looking at Kim and approaching to get a closer look.

_"You... I know you... Ah yes... The famous Kim Possible, and her pathetic little sidekick. Drakken told me about you and how harmful you can be."

_"From you, we take that as a compliment." said Ron.

_ "Ah... the insolence of youth..." Simmons chuckled softly at Ron's remark, and immediately punched the young man hard in the stomach, taking his breath away.

_ "Ron!" Kim gasped as she saw her friend fall to his knees, suffering from the blow but immediately picked up by a guard as Simmons rubbed his fist and walked back to the bay window.

_ "We know what you did, Simmons." Kim said with a glare at him. "You caused all of this."

_ "If by that, you mean I gave humanity a chance against the titans, then yes, I plead guilty." Simmons replied proudly.

_"Monarch are here, Simmons." Kim added scornfully. "Soon you'll be behind bars in a cell."

_"Monarch?" chuckled the APEX director openly. "They are far too blinded by their proclamations about the benefits titans bring to our world to see anything. And anyway, they have something urgent to deal with right now, in the center -city of Hong Kong."

With these words, he took a small remote control and activated a giant screen on one of the walls of the room, showing the images broadcast live by the television channels. Kim and Ron then saw what was happening.

************

In the city center, Godzilla had quickly come to his senses and rose from the ruins of the building that had collapsed on top of him, shaking himself a little to remove the debris and dust. Growling loudly and puffing smoke from its nostrils, the giant reptile looked furiously around, searching for its enemy. He felt it clearly, he was out here somewhere, and he was going to find him and defeat him once and for all.

Crawling on his four legs between the buildings, like a Komodo dragon on the hunt, Godzilla looked everywhere. But he hadn't thought to look up, because Kong, also very clever, had perched on the top of a building and was waiting in silence, holding in his hand the arm of a construction crane that he had ripped off.

Once Godzilla was close enough, Kong threw the crane arm forcefully against the facade of the building just behind Godzilla, causing a loud crashing sound that caught the reptile's attention who peeked out. Kong takes the opportunity of the surprise attack to leap from the top and land hard on Godzilla's back, causing him to crash head-on into the building and cling to him. Kong slammed his fist into Godzilla's jaw, and clung to his back, wrapping his arms around his neck as if trying to strangle him.

A merciless struggle began, Godzilla struggling fiercely, voluntarily throwing himself against several buildings to try to get Kong to let go, who despite the violent shocks, resisted somehow and clung on, continuing to punch in an attempt to bring down the King of the Monsters.

However, Godzilla found the moment and closed his jaws on one of Kong's arms, biting it until it bled. Kong roared in pain and was ejected by Godzilla who swung him above his shoulders and threw him violently to the ground. Kong rolled on the ground and narrowly dodged the reptile's foot which could have crushed his head against the ground. But Godzilla managed to pin the gorilla to the ground, biting him again on the arm with the same savagery, and used his brute force to pull Kong by the arm and throw him in the air, against the facade of a building which Kong collided. Kong roared in great pain, clutching his shoulder which had just been dislocated from the impact.

Godzilla, carried away by his extreme rage, gave his enemy no respite, charging him in an attempt to bite him in the head. Kong managed to find breath to leap to the side, the giant reptile's head and upper body getting caught in the building, which immediately shattered under the titan's force. Kong wanted to get up but a violent blow from Godzilla's tail made him fall to the ground again.

Finding himself with a dislocated arm and his strength reduced, Kong had no time to get up and had to crawl back, relentlessly pursued by a godzilla possessed by fury, the latter crawling on all fours like a hunting alligator and tempting to bite Kong's feet. He managed to bite one, but was immediately repelled by a kick from the other foot. Kong tried to get away again, but Godzilla, despite his size and great weight, leapt into the air with speed, landing a hard paw blow in Kong's face and pinning him to the ground.

At this same moment, Jia finally came close to the scene of the fight, having been forced to sneak through the ruins. Ann and James finally caught up with her, so they too could see the carnage that was taking place. With teary eyes, fear and shock permeating her mind, Jia helplessly watched. Ann was holding her by the shoulders, insisting with James to pull her as far away as possible, but Jia couldn't even move or look away.

The King of the Monsters didn't stop there. Without the slightest mercy, he began to claw repeatedly at Kong's chest, who emitted excruciating grunts and roars of pain. Ann, also in shock of this violence, immediately hid Jia's face to prevent her from seeing it, the young girl tearfully snuggling up to her adoptive mother. Again and again, Godzilla wouldn't stop, roaring with rage, lacerating more and more of his enemy's skin and flesh, showing the bleeding marks of his claws on Kong's chest.

Eventually, Godzilla ceased his butchery and planted his mighty foot firmly on Kong's bruised chest, pinning him to the ground and towering over him with his stature. But Kong, despite all the pain, didn't seem to want to give up and delivered one last, very hard punch directly into the wound in Godzilla's thigh, causing it to bleed even more. But this had the effect of accentuating even more the rage of the reptile which crushed Kong's chest again with its foot. Kong let out a final howl of pain, his breath gasping and his ribcage half crushed. Kong tried to push his enemy's foot away from him, but in vain... He no longer had the strength to continue. On the ground, seriously injured, breathing with great difficulty, the King of Skull Island could no longer hold on.

The blows had ceased, the roars had ceased and calm seemed to have returned. Jia dared to look, and this sight only made her distress worse. She wanted to run to Kong to protect him, but what could she do in the face of such devastating anger? Desperate, in tears, she held out her hand to Kong.

His opponent at his mercy, Godzilla leaned forward, approaching his furious, growling face. Kong looked him straight in the eye, refusing to look away or show any sign of fear. At this audacity, Godzilla let out a long, powerful roar in Kong's face, ordering him to submit. But Kong refused, eyeing the King of Monsters defiantly and voiced his refusal in an equally firm and powerful roar. The two titans roared against each other, shaking earth, water and air, and everyone's eardrums.

Faced with the categorical refusal of his enemy, Godzilla seemed for a moment disconcerted, but also, almost admiring such strength of character, because he had never been challenged like this before. Yes, this Kong was really not an adversary like the others. However, the anger demon soon regained the upper hand and Godzilla frowned again with a growl. If Kong refuses to submit to him... Then he will die, like all those who once dared to challenge him. Godzilla began charging a final atomic breath, his backplates glowing more and more. Kong, seeing that Godzilla was about to pulverize his head, didn't flinch despite it, continuing to stare defiantly and forcefully, and growling as if to provoke Godzilla into doing so. Further on, Jia gasped and burst into even more tears in a mute cry, still restrained by Ann and James, who in a panic tried to take their adopted daughter with them to get away from the violent shock wave that would result of the breath. They were much too close, at this distance, the wave of the breath was going to burn them for sure.

_"GODZILLA! STOP!"

This female voice, desperate and strong echoed in the air, reaching everyone's ears. Immediately, Godzilla ceased the charge of his breath, and growling in bewilderment, looked away, having recognized that voice.

There she was... Elsa, standing amidst the smoking ruins. Panting after so much running through the city, her face contorted with despair and her cheeks moist with tears, the goddess looked at him, having seen with her own eyes the vision of the future she had seen about to come true. Jia, Ann and James also turned to Elsa, surprised to see her here.

Elsa advanced without hesitation towards the two titans, Godzilla continuing to hold Kong firmly to the ground under his foot. Elsa then climbed up onto Kong's chest, facing her king, looking him straight in the eyes and spreading her arms out, as if to prevent him what he was about to do.

_ "Godzilla, i'm begging you..." Elsa said, her heart aching and tears in her eyes. "Stop it. Kong was never your enemy. You're not like that. You're not the ruthless destroyer everyone think you are and you will never be. I know that because I still love you, that's the bond that unites us who tells me so. I continue to feel it, in my heart. It is still present. I know that you too can always feel it. Don't let your rage blind your true nature... Feel it, please... Come back to me, my love... Otherwise... you will have to kill me too."

On these words imbued with absolute sincerity, Elsa kept her position, determined not to move and to undergo with Kong the atomic blast head-on. Godzilla growled, breathing with anger, frowning in confusion. He didn't understand... How could she dare to defend his rival? He leaned towards Elsa, roared fiercely and angrily at her, but despite that, the goddess refused to move away and kept that same determined expression on her face. No, she wouldn't budge and if her king was no longer here, she would rather die defending a dear friend than be the queen bound to a soulless destroyer.

Godzilla didn't know what to do anymore, his mind split in two, his rage colliding with his reasoning. All the moments spent with Elsa came back to him, as if his subconscious was trying to make him understand the mistake he was about to make... All those nights in Ahtohallan with Elsa, contemplating the sky, those stars and those aurora borealis... Those nights sleeping together, Elsa snuggling up against him... Their first meeting, centuries ago, the birth of their bond at their first physical contact... Him, using his own body as a shield to receive the full force of the mountain that was about to collapse on Elsa, saving her life... Him after defeating all these evil titans who threatened Arendelle...

Then, he felt it again, very tenuous, but still present... This spark that animated this unique bond that lived in his heart... How could he have forgotten it? He then looked around, to see the devastation all around, then Kong, on the ground, under his foot and seriously injured.

Elsa smiled as she saw Godzilla gently remove his foot from Kong's chest, and finally deciding to spare him. She knew he would make the right choice, she had never doubted. However, the King of Monsters looked confused and turned away, preferring to walk away for a few moments. Feeling that he needed to be alone, Elsa decided she would join him afterward and climbed down from Kong's chest to join Jia, Ann, and James. The young girl was still in tears to see her friend in this state.

Kong tried to get up, very difficult, only being able to support himself with his only good arm, and uttering a very painful roar, staggered before collapsing on the ground again, this time not moving at all.

_" Kong!" Elsa gasped when she saw that and rushed over to him.

Jia also gasped, panicked and desperate, and followed the goddess with her adoptive parents to see the condition of the titan of Skull Island. Elsa's heart sank... What if she was still too late?
