°~I'm Sorry~°

With great difficulty, you hurl both men out of your house, shutting the door with a sigh of exasperation as you lean against it, blowing the hair out of your face.

Remind me never to be around them when they're together?

Taehyung was the first one to show up the next morning, bouncing in excitement outside your door.

"What are you doing here again?"
You ask, slinging your bag over your shoulder, chewing vigorously on the piece of gum in your mouth.

You were clad in a large Nike sweater and a pair of jeans with some old sneakers you found at the bottom of your shoe rack.

"I'm here to drop you!"
He states, ecstatic with a large smile spread across his face. You roll your eyes, shaking your head.

"I'm going to visit my brother first."
His smile slowly falls, his shoulders slumping.
"Oh."

You shut your door, skipping down the steps and stopping to look up at the sloth that dragged down the stairs.

"I thought you wanted to come with me?"
You ask with an arched brow, amused.
He whines.
"I don't like hospitals."

You scoff, staring ahead.
"I'll take that as a no."
You break out into a sprint, as Taehyung yells behind you.
"Y/N, wait!"

The lady at the registration chuckles, seeing Taehyung chase after you out of the residence.
"Young love."
She mumbles, shaking her head.

Taehyung catches up with you, grabbing your shoulders from behind with a grunt. You release a breathy laugh, laying all your weight on your knees in exhaustion.

"You didn't... have to... do that. Now... I'm a heaving mess."
Taehyung stutters between pants as you walk slowly ahead of him.

Walking down the sidewalk, you couldn't help but notice the numerous couples holding hands and being touchy with each other.

It's like they're trapped in their own little bubble of fantasy, an imaginary oasis in the middle of the barren desert, completely unaware of the world around them.

I wonder what that feels like... loving someone to the extent of believing they're the only person you need to survive more than yourself.

But what's more intriguing is realizing that there's someone who thinks about you all the time, someone who actually cares.

Images and flashbacks of Jimin pop up in your mind, his mischievous expressions arousing a swirling bubbly sensation to erupt inside you as you stare at the couple walking in front of you.

Taehyung notices your attention towards them, and nibbles on his inner cheek before swiftly taking your hand in his, forcing a smile onto his face and intertwining your fingers.

Your eyes bulge at the sudden gesture, goosebumps spiking all over you. He skips along the way, swinging your hand with his dramatically back and forth. An innocent, child-like smile graced his delicate features before you feel the urge to pull away.

You shove your hands in your pockets with an awkward cough as his smile fades. You glance at him, pulling your hoodie over your head before speaking softly.

"D-don't do that out here. People might think we're a couple."

A sharp pang hit his chest instantly as he lowers his gaze, not knowing what to do with his hands as he puts them in his pockets too.

What more do I have to do, to make you see me, Y/N?

What more do I have to do, for you to look at me in my true light?

Are you purposely blind? Or... are you blinded by the one that swept me away from you in a second?

The two of you finally reach the hospital, an awkward aura surrounding you.

A hesitant look arose on Taehyung as you approached Jungkook's room, and he instantly sat down on the chairs outside.

"Don't you want to meet him?"
You ask, with furrowed eyebrows.
"I-I'm good here."
He says, shuffling in his seat.

Weird. Tae would always remain beside Kookie. I guess he's changed over the years.

You shrug your shoulders, opening the door to see Doctor Kang step out at the same time and you startle.

He turns to Jungkook, nodding his head.
"You have a visitor, right on time Jungkook."

An unusual gaze lingered between the Doctor and Jungkook, and you shuffled awkwardly in your spot as the doctor walked past you.

Your heart softens at the man that stared up at you with his large doe eyes, bewildered.

"What took you so long?"
He bluntly stated, catching you by surprise.
"Y-you can talk now?"

"Gee, Y/N. No, I can't. That's totally the reason why I'm not talking to you right now."
Your brother says smoothly as you scoff, rolling your eyes.
"I liked you better when you couldn't talk."

"But no, seriously, you haven't visited me for two weeks already."
His voice lowers, as he turns his head away, annoyed.

A sharp pang hits your chest in guilt, knowing you had forgotten about him with all the drama that had happened so far.

"I'm sorry."
You say, standing at the end of his bed as he glances at you, multiple thoughts running through his head.

I realized how much of an impact you have on my life in the span of two weeks, Y/N.

I've tried to push you away, but you always end up right in front of me whenever I've needed you the most.

"Is everything alright?"
You ask, feeling an uneasy tension in the atmosphere.

He's snapped out of his thoughts, nodding his head erratically.

I want the old us back.

I miss us, Kookie. I miss you.

I want the old you back.

You lower your gaze to the end of his bed, an awkward silence enveloping the space between the two of you.

"Taehyung is outs-"

Jungkook cuts you off, staring at his clasped hands.
"I'm sorry, Y/N.. I-I'm sorry."

*A few minutes earlier*

"Why hasn't she come yet?"
Jungkook asks, and the Doctor places the cup of water down beside him.

"She's probably busy."
He says softly, alarmed at the expression on Jungkook's face.

A shadow fell across his face, as he snapped his head upto the Doctor. Jungkook stared calmly at him, but there was a different look in eyes.

One that had a forced stability on the outside, but was desperately crumbling on the inside. He was screaming out for help with the his empty eyes, clawing at anyone he could find to help him.

"Do you think she's lost care?"
He asks, his voice cracking.
The doctor shakes his head, furrowing his eyebrows in disbelief.

"Jungkook, why would you think of that? She's your sister."

"Yeah. A sister I treated like crap."

He's taken aback, carefully placing his next words.

"Did something happen between the two of you?"

Jungkook gulps, eyes darting around the room in desperation.

"I'm telling you this, only because you've been treating our family for years. You're seen as a family member yourself in our eyes."

The doctor nods sheepishly, recalling his angry event when Jungkook was first admitted in the hospital.

Jungkook stares at him, before blatantly spitting out his next words.
"You already know that my parents were fucktards."

The doctors eyes bulge wide, as he hurriedly peeps through the blinds of the windows to the hallway.

"Don't talk like that! What if one of my nurses hear you?!"
He whisper yells, and Jungkook sighs, continuing.

"Y/N was what you'd call the golden child of the family. They showered her in love, draped her in the most expensive clothing, and fed her carefully. I was just their first child that had no identity of their own."

The doctor stares at him in pity, his heart clenching inside him.

"My mother wanted a girl. Not me. And when Y/N finally came, God is my witness to testify that it was the most overdramatised fucking moment ever."

"When she was growing up, I was the one expected to turn her into greatness, the prodigy of our family. And when she fucked things up, I would be the one to receive her consequences for not training her right."

"But it isn't her fault, Jungkook-ah."
The doctor chimes in, and Jungkook grits his teeth.

"If you had seen the bruises I got for her, you would understand. I was always there for her, to play with her, to teach her, to be her brother. But sometimes it didn't feel that way. I felt like I was her personal groomer and nothing more."

"Its her fault for my bruises, but at the same time it isn't. There are times where I just wished she wasn't born, and there are times I'm grateful for her existence in my life."

"I don't know if she still sees me as nothing but her groomer, because I clearly don't see her that way. I want to be there for her, but everytime I see her face, I feel those merciless lashes across me over and over again."

Jungkook grits out, slamming his hand against the table and wiping everything off it as it smashes to the floor.

The doctor startles, shaking his head with a sigh, picking up the broken pieces of the cup and throwing it in the bin.

"My parents only treat me well now because she's fucked up too many times for them to care anymore. They haven't spoken to us ever since my knockout. T-they haven't even visited me."
He states, leaning back into the bed with his hands over his head in defeat.

"You still can't blame her for it, Jungkook. You're both grown men and women now, and staying connected to your undesirable past isn't healthy for either of you."
The doctor says, leaning against the wall beside him.

Jungkook stares up at him in disbelief.
"So you're saying we just... forget everything?"

He shrugs, sighing deeply.
"Forgive each other. But don't ever forget. Don't forget everything you've gone through, because that defines the new you that emerges from the rubble of your past, ready to face your life in freedom."

Jungkook stares ahead of him, processing his words in deep thought before muttering loud enough for him to hear.
"You should've been a therapist or something."

The doctor laughs, shaking his head.
"So, when are you going to tell her?"
"Whenever she comes. But I feel like that isn't going to be anytime soon."

The doctor sighs, pushing himself off the wall.
"Do your thang."
Jungkook's face contorts in bewilderment.
"Yeah, you're officially not our family doctor anymore."

He laughs, opening the door to see you suddenly entering at the same time, startling.

Jungkook's heart races inside him as he sees you standing at the doorway, his hands immediate growing clammy.

The doctor turns around and locks a knowing gaze with him.

They spoke a thousand words before this, and now it was all upto Jungkook to carry out what he wanted to do.

I know it's hard, Jungkook. But I know you can do it.

Words of encouragement were shared through their single gaze, before the doctor parts his lips to speak.

"You have a visitor, right on time Jungkook."
