Chapter 15: Rescue and Heartache
"Just a little farther." T thought. He could see an over turned lifeboat ahead. There were already a number of people on board but T knew he had been in the water far too long already. He had to get out. Two strokes away. He felt strong arms grasp him and pull in up as best as they could.Exhausted and frozen to the bone, T collapsed onto the boat and knew no more.

Becca and Salali huddled close together to try and stay warm as yet another blast of cold wind rocked the boat. They were worried about T. What if he never got off the ship? Changing history would be almost in vain then. The ship had disappeared what seemed like hours ago. No wit waiting. Staring into the endless black looking for any signs of a rescue ship.
Hours passed. Finally a ship loomed in the distance. It was the Carpathia! Becca and Salali breathed a sigh of relief. Help was on the way!Their boat was the first to get picked up, so they hurried around to all the boats looking for T. Finally, they saw him. He was not climbing up the ladder like most people though, he was being lifted up but the pulley system. His clothes had become ice encasing him and he was not breathing. He was stiff as a board.
"Is he...dead?" Becca asked. The man shrugged his shoulders. He said there was no way of knowing. "Do you know the man?" He asked.
Both girls nodded their heads. "His name is T. Weatherby."
The girls followed the man to the hospital wing on the ship. This was where he would stay until it was determined that T was dead or he awoke. Becca and Salali stayed with him. Color was returning to his face. An hour or so later T started to stir. The girls jumped up and called the nurse. She came running in and saw T open his eyes. She gave him a quick look over and told them he could leave as long as he stayed warm.
While they were sitting by the fire T recounted what had happened to him. He told them everything including the fact that he felt betrayed when they left him on the ship. He told them he knew better than that now. They were friends and nothing could tear that apart.

A week later, the Carpathia pulled into New York harbor. This time the three new they had to get to a private space before their phones started ringing. No sooner had they done so when Ring!Ring! Again the phones could not be silenced. Everything around them was fading away. Then, the library started fading into view.
