Chapter 9- A Brew

Erza's Pov-

I would quickly need to leave my room to sneak out of the palace. But to my dismay the guards that occupied the castle grounds and corridors had been doubled, probably to monitor me, so I couldn't sneak out of the palace easily. I would need a plan. Thankfully, if my theories were correct, my Father would have more guards on the lesser used corridors –since I useds those hallways the most– and not as many on the main ones. So all I would have to do is switch up my route a bit. But I would still have to be careful and need a backup plan.

I went into my closet and began to change into fresh clothes, ones that would be suitable for traveling, and brushed out my hair. I went to find a good pair of boots, but none were the proper type I was looking for. I finally found a pair that would be okay for me to wear. They were an old pair of boots I used to wear and were a bit small for my feet. I quickly packed a bag with essentials in it; it's always best to be prepared for anything.

I took a deep breath before entering the hallway doing my best not to cause suspension. Flying out the window would be an easy passage to getting myself locked up in my room; so this was basically my only option, for now. Two guards stopped me in my tracks.

"And where do you think you're going?" The taller guard asked.

"I'm heading to the garden. I'm going to get some flowers and apologize to my father," I replied. It was a blatant lie, and I was surprised they couldn't see through it right then.

"We have specific orders to watch guard over you and make sure you stay in your room," the shorter guard stated.

"I promised Lucy I would meet her there a while ago. I realised it would be a good chance for apologizing as well," I managed to say keeping my facade up hoping it was believable, "at least let me go give her a book about flowers I borrowed from her."

I watched the guards hesitate for a moment before the taller one finally spoke, "alright, well believe you for now. I'll have him escort you to the garden and back." "Thank you," I spoke glad I was believable. I didn't like to lie much in less I had too.

As the guard and I approached the garden I quickly thought up a way to escape. I couldn't just fly away, I would easily be noticed missing and would be caught. I could always just knock him out... But with what? I thought for a moment. A book! The one I used for an excuse to see Lucy. It was actually a book on forest life, just in case I ran into any dangers on my way. It would be heavy enough seeing it was about the same size as a history book.I took the book out of the bag as inconspicuously as I could, thanking the lord that the guard wasn't looking towards me at the moment.

Just as we turned the corner I hit him as hard as I could with the book and knocked him out. I was a bit surprised to see how easily he was knocked out, but in his defence this book could be used as a projectile. I then put the book back in my bag and swiftly headed off palace grounds. Lucky for me the garden was one of the lesser guarded places and even led to the forest.

~Time skip~

After what seemed like years I finally arrived at the location. Within the large forest laid a small clearing that was hidden by trees. A small hut laid in the center with a small garden in the back that had a small stream running through it. A large willow tree also stood back there as well, slightly parted from the house and garden. I approached the door and pulled on the rope of a small bell. Once I did I heard the sound of something hitting the floor then a quick, "I'm coming!" A girl wearing midnight blue dress answered the door. She had beautiful long blue hair as well as blue eyes. Juvia.

She had been Anaria's apprentice before Anaria had gone missing, and now she was a witch herself. I had only visited her a few times but I considered her a friend. It took her a moment to see me but once she did she spoke, "Erza? What are you doing here?" "I need your help, it's my father," I said to her. "Oh, then come on in," Juvia said and opened the door. Juvia hadn't lived with Anaria when the war had first started but had heard enough stories to know that anything with my father meant trouble.

I briefly explained what had happened to Juvia. "What can I do to help?" She asked me.

"I need a way to stay undetected for a while," I started, "the plan I have so far is to act like I've gone missing. After a while they'll have to get Simon to help since he knows my locations the best, which means they'll have to let him out. Once he finds me, if everything goes my way, he'll be forgiven. I know it's not a very developed plan but I don't know what else to do."

"So you need an invisibility potion basically."

"Basically," I nodded a bit.

"Okay, why don't you have some tea and I'll get to work on this," Juvia said standing up.

"Thank you, you don't know how much this helps."

"Anything for a friend," Juvia smiled.

~Timeskip~

A while later Juvia had finally finished the potion and placed it down. "Are you sure you don't want to stay here? It's becoming late. There are lots of wolves around this area. It's not safe," Juvia offered. "I told you I'll be fine. I can just fly away if they attack me," I reassured her and picked the fairy-sized potion up.

"Whatever you say. But be careful."

"I will, thank you again," I said, "I should get going."

"Okay, it was good to see you."

"Goodbye," I said and smiled.

"Bye," Juvia said and closed the door behind me.

I then started to walk back the way I came from. It was fairly dark and it was getting difficult to see. Just incase I ran into something I decided to drink a small part of the potion so I would be unnoticeable to the animals in the forest. It would take a few minutes for the effects to start working so I continued on my way.

After a short while I felt a weird sensation in my chest. I continued on and ignored it until it became unbearable. I put a hand to my chest and could feel that I was moving. No my limbs or my heart but my body moving. Growing. I thought about what could have caused this. A side effect? Was it something I drank? No. The potion.

I thought about what Juvia had been brewing before I had visited her. If my memory was correct she was trying to recreate a sizing potion. Does that mean I took the wrong potion? How much will I grown until it stops?

Just then my thoughts were interrupted as I fell down on the ground. I mumbled a little bit in pain. I stood up and wiped the dirt off my clothes. I was going to fly again when I realised my wings wouldn't work. I tried again but I couldn't feel them. My clothes were growing with me so shouldn't my wings? Then I had a sudden realisation. It wasn't any sizing potion I had taken. It was a human-sizing potion. One meant for fairies. I tried to walk but stumbled a bit on my feet. My shoes were killing me! I could feel forming blisters on the heels of my feet. I let out a sigh and tried to stand up again. I made it a few steps before tripping and landing on a sharp stick which caused me to make a small noise.

I got up again this time. By now I looked like a normal human and was the size of one. It was a bit easier to walk but everything was so much different. Everything seemed... Tiny. I felt like a giant; it was so strange. What could have seemed like a possible place to sit only moments ago was just a tiny petal on a tiny flower. I looked around dazed for a moment almost forgetting why I was there and where I was going. Until I was reminded by the sound of rustling bushes.

I quickly turned around as I heard a howl not far from where I was. Then another howl. And another. And another. Wolves just like Juvia warned me. Why hadn't I listened to her? Wolves slowly circled around the area as the emerged from the dark shadows of the night. Just as I was about to be completely surrounded I gathered my courage and ran as fast as I could. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as I ran through the forest. I could feel adrenaline running through my veins. There was no possible way I could outrun them but just maybe I could lose them. I know it's wishful thinking but I just needed to try something, anything.

It wasn't long before I came to a dead end. I was stuck at the bottom of a small ledge and completely cornered. I backed up and searched around for a possible weapon. I quickly grabbed the closest thing to me which was lucky a scarce tree branch. The three wolves started to close in on me. I positioned myself so I would be ready when one attacked. My feet were killing me and didn't know how I would be able to do this.

The wolves came a bit closer before the one on the left lunged at me. I swiftly tried to block the attacking wolf as came at me. The wolf attached itself to my arm. I used my free hand to hit the wolf with the branch as we brawled. I was eventually able to knock the beast off of my arm before I hit the wolf as hard as I could. The wolf lay on the ground unmoving as another one got started to attack. I move to run as another bit my boot. I tripped and fell onto the ground. The wolf snapped at my face, but I had held onto the branch and used it to shield myself. I then clawed at the wolf's face and managed to scratch his eyes. In a moment of blindness I pushed him off of me and began to sprint, stumbling and tripping as I ran. I don't know how I was managing to outrun them, but however it happened I was thankful for it.

Eventually I ran until I saw the land start to slope down, a hill. This might be a good chance to loose them. But it wasn't long before I tripped and ended up tumbling down the hill. Every single moment I felt pain in some part of my body be it the throbbing in my head to the bleeding of my blistered feet. I would eventually stop once it became flat again. If I wasn't dead by that time.

Eventually I landed on the ground in a bloody state. I tried to pick myself up by my body refused to work. I couldn't give up, what if the wolves were still following me? I was able to push myself up, using a tree to help support myself. I stumbled a bit further, and my vision began to haze over. I couldn't focus on my surrounds at all because my headache was pounding so hard. I saw a figure start to come into view. It was blurry but it was a figure.

I felt my legs give out beneath me as everything faded into darkness.
