Jellal's Pov-

I was peacefully reading a book at the desk in my room when I heard the faint sound of scratching coming from the window. I walked over to my window to see a small orange and white kitten with tangled fur. It looked like it had been a stray but I would recognise the kitten from anywhere. It was one of Milliana's cats, Pumpkin. Milliana is a close friend of mine who has a pet shop in the kingdom, she has many types of animals but the ones she adores the best are cats. Pumpkin is a stray kitten Milliana had taken in a while ago and is well trained, Pumpkin always came back after going outside and wandering around unlike some of the other cats.

Pumpkin was pawing at the window creating small scratch marks. I opened the window for Pumpkin to come in. "Hey Pumpkin what are you doing here?" I asked the cat knowing it couldn't reply. Pumpkin replied with a meow, dropping a small item on the ground. I picked up the object and inspected it, a small torn up boot.

I sat down at the desk and looked at the small piece of footwear, "where did you get this? It looks like a boot for a doll." I saw a small symbol embroidered into it but I couldn't focus my eyesight to see what it was. I looked back at pumpkin and realised how dirty he was. He had leaves tangled all over his fur and dirt dusted his paws, I bet Milliana will have a fun time cleaning that. I studied on of the leaves from Pumpkin's fur. "There aren't any leaves like this in the kingdom. The only ones are in the forest." It took me a second to process the possibility but I needed to check. I quickly got the picture of the fairy I was given out of a drawer in my room. I looked at the fairy then back at the boot, no mistake. It matched.

I quickly got up and changed into my town clothes, putting my hat on along the with bandages as usual to cover my tattoos. I slipped the boot and photo into my pocket as I snuck out of the palace towards the forest.

I wander through the forest looking for the matching leaves that were in Punkin's fur. Maybe if I was lucky I could find the fairy that was in the picture. If it's even real. No! I can be real I shouldn't doubt myself. I have evidence right here. I looked at the boot again. It was so realistic and had the shape of a real shoe and the material felt similar. I stopped walking. What would I do with a fairy? Nothing. I don't have any use for one, so why am I looking for one? I started to walk again without realising it.

Soon enough I found myself in an unfamiliar part of the forest. I looked around quickly. "I'm not lost, am I? Did I go too deep into the forest?" I spoke aloud knowing no one could hear me. I looked back at the place I had come from. I could see a familiar part of the forest in the distance. At least I didn't go too far. I just need to remember how I got here. I looked ahead of me, the forest began to go up a large hill. I definitely had never been to this part of the forest before.

Suddenly I heard the sound of something coming from the bushes on the hill. I look at the hill carefully. A girl with scarlet hair came limping out of the forest and landed at my feet. I quickly rushed to help her up and support her so she could stand. I heard the sounds of wolves in the distance. She must have been attacked, I need to get her back to the palace.
