Haunted House
When they arrived at the haunted house, the person in front of it warned them that the children had to be within reach of the parents at all times since the inside could be scary to them.
The kids nodded excitedly as they were very eager to enter the haunted house, but Wei Wuxian made them promise to hold hands and not to stray away from the path.
“No running, you hear!” Wei Wuxian warned them as Jingyi pulled Xiao Yuan with him to enter the haunted house.
Thankfully Xiao Yuan whispered something to Jingyi before they held hands and then walked calmly in front of their respective dads – making Wei Wuxian’s eyes roll.
The brat never listened to him, but once Xiao Yuan was involved, he became as obedient as a trained puppy. But it was an improvement from his days of giving Wei Wuxian’s headache all the time from his mischievousness.
The inside was dark and gloomy, and they could hear the shrieks of the people who came before them, telling them that the haunted house was that scary – and Wei Wuxian unconsciously grabbed Lan Wangji’s hand from the surprise.
“Sorry!” He immediately let go when he realized what he was doing, but he could hear Lan Wangji’s chuckle in the dark.
“It’s fine, we can also hold hands if you are that afraid.”
Wei Wuxian blushed when he heard Lan Wangji’s offer.
Did he really think that he was like a kid? Like Jingyi?
Damn, that was so embarrassing.
But he did hold Lan Wangji’s hand since he was afraid of the dark. And the fake ghosts. And everything. He hated haunted houses, but he was too proud to admit it in front of Lan Wangji.
Lan Wangji squeezed his hand and they walked together in the dark – where Wei Wuxian closed his eyes most of the time. But when he heard the kids’ scream, he opened his eyes and saw a woman with pale bloody face and bright red lipstick right in front of him, and he screamed so loud that the woman jumped back in surprise – but then Wei Wuxian did not see anything else because he passed out.
When he opened his eyes, he was in a bright room that smelled like antiseptic, and he could feel that his hand was held by someone.
“Are you okay?”
Wei Wuxian heard Lan Wangji’s voice and he almost jumped out of his skin from the surprise.
“Wh-where am I? Where’s the kids?” He was so disoriented, but his focus was to find Jingyi before he caused any trouble.
“They’re fine. The nurse is taking care of them.” Lan Wangji pushed him down and poured him a glass of cold water. “Drink this.”
Wei Wuxian took the glass and sipped the water – when everything came back to him so suddenly and he blushed from the embarrassment.
“Oh god, I’m so embarrassed. Did I pass out from seeing the ghost appear in front of me?” He groaned and covered his face with his free hand.
Lan Wangji chuckled as he took the glass and patted his back.
“It’s fine. Everyone has an embarrassing secret. Jingyi was kind of scared back then so I have Xiao Yuan to keep him company. Should I get them now?”
“Let’s just go home now, I don’t want to take your time more than I should. I apologize for all of this…”
“Don’t worry about it.” Lan Wangji helped Wei Wuxian to stand up and they collected their children before they went back to Wei Wuxian’s home.
