Tip #9 - Keep in touch with your readers
1) Captivating hints
Give you readers little captivating hints about your coming chapters through comments.
Like if someone commented on your chapter saying "Omg I am so in love with Mike!".
You shouldn't give a lame reply like "Oh thanks". Instead, you should say, "I am in love with him myself, there is so much more about him in the following chapter! I believe it's going to be your fav chapter:D".
2) Reply to comments.
You have to must reply to your readers comments regularly. Because, no one appreciates leaving a nice comment on your story, trying to support you, only for you to ignore them. You in fact, hvae to show them the care, and how much you appreciate their support.
3) Listen to their thoughts.
You have to listen to your readers thoughts, if they tell you that anything has to be fixed with your story, you must assure them that you will do your best. You have to try to fix whatever they don't like, even if it takes you to ask someone more professional for help
4) Regular updates.
You should update regularly, it's too annoying for readers to get an update every two weeks. And I know how much stressful it is for a writer to update a lot as they do have their lives. So a five-days update has been found to be the most suitable period for both readers and writers.
You shouldn't leave your readers hanging, you must set a day in the week which you will regularly update in, no matter how hard it is! I once had to write an entire chapter through my iPhone so ..
5) Assure them that you're alive.
If you haven't updated in more than a week and you know that you can't update any soon, you have to notify your readers by posting a message on your feed apologizing for not being able to update any soon "Sorry guys, my finals are soon and I have to study. No updates before two weeks:(".
6) No ignoring.
Don't ignore your readers private messages, they might want to get to know you which is their full right. You have to answers no matter how busy you are.
In fact, if you ignored them, they might just hate you as a reader and stop reading whatever you're writing and that's the exact opposite of what we want, ehh?
7) End of chapter talk.
You need to end each chapter talking to your readers to see how they find the book so far and whether they think it needs any changes considering ;
-Does the cast match the characters?
-Is the plot in line?
-How do you find the book's flow?
And anything else that you're insecure about in your book.
8) End of chapter question.
At the end of each chapter, you should ask your readers a question which leaves them wanting to know the answer so they continue on reading the next chapter to find out
-Do you guys think that Jared is going to pull any move on Emily while she's tutoring him at his place?
I hope Tip #6 is useful ^^,
