(Bonus chapter) 36: Backstory and Extra Stuff
Hey guys, so, I'm doing something a little different with this chapter. It's gonna be divided into different parts cause like, it's characters backstories I wanted to include and never got to. So yeah. I'm gonna start each section of with a little title and then go from there. This might end up being real long so I understand if you don't wanna read all of it. Or maybe it won't be long we'll see. Anyways, enjoy!<3
Gerard & Mikey
Gerard's pov
Mikey and I casually walked around the downtown, buying comic books, and talking about random things. Both with coffees in hand. It's been awhile since we've been out together... I've been so busy with work...
"... yeah and like, the new Lego Batman game is okay, I mean, what'd you expect from a Lego game y'know?" He spoke, pushing up on his glasses.
"Yeah, I get that. Although, Lego Star Wars was pretty good."
"That's like, the only one." Mikey said, opening the door into a comic book store. We both stepped in. The shop of course had walls lined with comic books along with graphic novels and manga books alike.
"Aside from the games, they do got some pretty sick Lego sets that come from them."
"Definitely, they're sick as hell," We both chuckled, looking through the shelves and boxes the comic books sat in, "How's that job of yours been?"
"Oh uh, watching over Nicolae?"
"Yeah, does he look freaky?"
"Kinda, he's a Nosferatu so he's got that look."
"Sick, he hasn't tried to eat ya, has he?"
"Nah, but he's so old, I'm sure if he did his fangs would just fall out." We both chuckled at the thought. I held a few comics in my hands as did Mikey. I've been working for him for awhile now... he hasn't tried to pull anything so... that's good...
"Find anything good?" I asked, eying his short stack.
"Just some Batman."
"Ah, I got some too." We went up to the register where a girl stood with long dark red hair that neatly fell over her all black ripped t-shirt. Her eyes were a dark green with skin so pale she could almost be mistaken for a vampire. Almost.
"Hi! Find everything you need?" She asked, sweetly.
"Yeah..."
"Good good..." She scanned my items first and put them in a bag before handing it over to me.
"Hey..." Mikey greeted as I stepped away.
"Hi, find everything?"
"Not quite." Oh I know exactly what he's doing...
"Aw, what is it? Maybe I can help."
"Yeah probably, I uh, I couldn't find your number anywhere." It's such a terrible line...
"Oh," She began to giggle nervously, "Yeah, I can help ya out." My eyes went wide. There's no way that actually worked...
"Aw sick, thanks," He read the name on the piece of paper, "Caroline..." She handed him his bag of comic books.
"And you are?" She asked.
"Mikey..."
"Cool, call me sometime, Mikey..." She sent him a sweet smile and wave before we left.
"Damn, that actually worked!" He jumped up and down with a smile.
"Yeah, I dunno how. That was terrible." He chuckled.
"She didn't think so apparently," We both laughed, wandering around the downtown area until almost nighttime, "See ya later Gee..." He spoke, standing outside his apartment.
"Yeah, see ya Mikes!" I said, standing in front of mine right next to his. Finally, we parted ways and I was left alone. Vampires... I wonder what it'd be like to be one... if I were one... who am I kidding? There's no way I'd become a vampire!
I chuckled to myself before getting ready and going to bed. The next morning I awoke and began to get ready for work. When I stepped out of my apartment, Mikey had done the same.
"Mornin'," Mikey greeted.
"Mornin'," I greeted back, "Did you ever message that girl?" I asked as we began walking together.
"Yeah! She wants to go out sometime."
"Really?" He nodded.
"I invited her over later."
"Cool..." I sent a smile to my little brother, happy for him. Girls have never been my strong suit... I like girls... they just... don't like me...
"Well, have fun with that." I said once we were outside.
"Oh I will!" He chuckled, walking to his car as did I. Once I got to the Nosferatu's home, I got out of my car and looked at the gigantic Victorian home in front of me. It was dark and old with the brown and black paint peeling and the windows with cracks all around the glass.
"Nicolae!" I called through the home as I entered. Standing in the entryway, a pair of stairs swerved up to the second floor where Nicolae stepped out onto the banister.
"Gerard! Hello!" He spoke with a heavy Russian accent that made him hard to understand at times, but I didn't mind, "Come! My coffin needs cleaning!"
"Alright..." Just like any other day, I helped Nicolae with chores around the house. It was almost time for me to go when he pulled me away.
"Gerard," He began, "I've been thinking about this for awhile now and, would you like to be my familiar?" His familiar!? Oh yes!
"Yes! Yes, oh, yeah that'd be great." He smiled wide, showing off his gargantuan fangs.
"Okay, we'll start training and things tomorrow."
"Cool, I uh, I gotta go. See ya tomorrow morning!" I waved before going out into my car. His familiar... yes...
Happily, I drove home. It was completely dark outside once I got to the apartments, so I ran inside. As I did, something felt off. It especially felt off when I passed Mikey's apartment. Quietly, I knocked on his door. He's gotta girl in there... maybe it's nothing?
"Mikey...?" There was no answer to my knock. That is, until I heard a yell, followed by a shriek. My eyes went wide as I grabbed for the spare key under the welcome mat. That's Mikey! That's him! Oh god... what's happening!?
Once I made it inside, I ran to his bedroom.
"Mikey!? Mikey!?" I cried, looking for my little brother, until I found him on the floor in a puddle of blood. Two little holes had been left in his neck, while the girl stood over him. She looked to me, hissed, and sped out the door.
"Mikey... oh god..." I fell to the floor, holding my baby brother close, "No..." Tears fell from my eyes as I held him.
"Gerard..." He groaned, "She... vampire... turned me..."
"No... maybe... maybe I can save you! I'll- I'll take you to Nicolae, he knows about this shit. I can save you!"
"Gerard... I can't move..."
"Yes you can!" I sobbed, "I gotcha..."
Carefully, I helped my little brother off the floor, and downstairs into my car. Quickly, I drove through the streets, not giving a damn about curfew. Mikey shrieked in pain as he laid in the back seat. I looked at him through the rearview mirror and watched in horror as fangs began growing out of his teeth.
"Mikey! It's okay! It's okay! You'll be okay..." I said, mostly trying to calm myself as I pulled up to the home.
Quickly, I helped Mikey inside and brought him upstairs to Nicolae's coffin. But, another wave of bad feelings came through. His coffin was open with the top on the other side of the room, as if someone threw it off. I set Mikey down at the door and ran to my vampire friend. Blood stained the old rickety wood floors beside the coffin.
"Nicolae! Oh fuck..." He lay with a wooden stake in his chest, covered in holy water, "Nicolae!?" Tiredly, he looked to me.
"Gerard..." He whispered, "Come closer, I need to pass... pass my powers onto someone else. You Gerard." A vampire... me!? I... I have no choice...
"Okay," I leaned down into the coffin, and he bit my neck. The feeling of a thousand daggers piercing the skin ran up and down my neck. Desperately, I held back screams of pain until he finally pulled away.
"Take this..." He handed me a bottle of red liquid that I could only assume to be his blood, "Goodbye, Gerard..."
"Nicolae..." And with that, his body went limp. My eyes went to the bottle. His last wishes... I must...
I drank the red liquid, immediately wanting to spit it out, but I held back. Suddenly, my insides became full of immense pain as I began to shriek. My body fell to the floor, dropping the bottle as the liquid spilled all over the floor. Mikey still lay beside the door, not being able to move. I tried moving towards my brother, but just as I held my hand out to reach for him, my eyelids shut, and I was out.
Frank
Frank's pov
Just like any other day, I sat in the church, alone, bored as hell. I hate it here... I wanna go out... do something stupid...
"Hey son," My father came in, sending a cheery smile, "You okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, just... a little tired," He hummed, "Could I maybe stay a little later?"
"And do what?"
"Uhm, study the Bible." He's not gonna buy it...
"Really!?" I nodded, "Sure, just don't stay too late."
"Uhuh..." wow... can't believe that worked...
He then took some of his things, said goodbye, and left the building. Once again I sat alone. Bored. Better than being home...
"Hey! Pst! Hey Frankie!" I turned to see one of my friends standing outside the big open door. Her pretty black hair lay neatly around her pale face. She's a vampire... if she steps inside she'd die...
"Hey babe," I got up and went to her, "Miss me?" I asked, stepping outside into the night.
"Yeah..." She giggled.
"Ay Audrey! Is he comin'?" She turned to our vampire friend who stood at the bottom of the steps. He's so sensitive... even stepping on a stair could send burns to his skin...
"Of course I'm comin'!" I took Audrey's hand and descended the stairs.
Timmy, who stood at the bottom of the steps, was a dark vampire. His skin was almost as dark as the night sky, with his pale eyes mimicking the stars above. The only reason you could spot him through the darkness was because of his long dark blue hair that fell to his waist.
We ran through the dark streets making jokes and laughing loud until we made it to an all too familiar alleyway. Audrey led us through the back door of a building where purple and blue light flooded the room as vampires and creatures alike hung around.
"You wanna drink?" She asked.
"Hell yeah..." She giggled and walked off to the bar while Timmy and I took seats in a big round booth.
"Still think it's weird that you're a human who drinks human blood."
"It's not weird! There's other people that do it. We just, taste good. Especially with alcohol."
"Frank, you're a really weird guy."
"Dude, all my fuckin' friends are vampires, of course I'm weird."
"Hey guys..." Audrey had come back with a few drinks and slid them over. She climbed into the booth and sat close to me. Throughout the night we drank and drank for quite awhile until Timmy got up to use the bathroom.
"Audrey..." She hummed, her head was on my shoulder, "You're like, really pretty..."
"You are too!" She giggled, "Hey... hey Frankie..." I hummed, "What... what if I..." She giggled, "What if I turned you into a vampire?"
"That'd make my dad so fuckin' pissed. Let's do it!" I cried, taking her hand.
"Mkay," She tugged on my hand, "C'mon, let's... let's do this somewhere else..." She leaned close to my ear, "My place..." Her voice whispered seductively, sending sweet shivers down my spine.
"Yeah, let's do that." She giggled, just as Timmy wandered out of the bathroom.
"Hi..." He greeted, sitting down, "I'm pretty sure I destroyed that toilet. Puked in it." He chuckled.
"Timmy... Timmy my man," Audrey began, then laughed, "I'm taking Frankie to my trailer. He wants me to turn him."
"Really!? Can I come?"
"Sure, I don't care..." We stumbled out of the building and laughed loud. I held an arm around Audrey as we walked.
"Hey Audrey I... I gotta tell ya something. But I don't want Timmy to hear me..."
"Whisper it." She turned to me.
"I really wanna kiss you." And with that, she pulled me by the collar and kissed me sloppily. Her tongue felt the inside of my mouth as her pretty fangs pressed against my upper lip.
"Eww! Gross!" Timmy cried as we finally made it to her home. Audrey dragged me into her bedroom while Timmy just crashed on the couch.
"Okay, I'm gonna... I'm gonna bite you. But uhm, I wanna, this..." She kissed me, then pushed me roughly into the bed. Her lips went to mine, then went down my chin, and to my neck. My fingers ran through her long black hair as she left short kisses around my neck.
"Do it babe..."
"Alright," Her voice was soft. She then licked up the side of my neck, while my fingers tugged at her hair. Finally, she looked to me one last time, before showing off her long sharp fangs, hissing, and digging them underneath the skin. Immediately, I began to groan from the pain.
"Fuck..." I whispered, feeling the feeling of a thousand bees stinging my neck all at the same time.
"Babe... Audrey oh..." She pulled away, her fangs stained red.
"Drink this..." She handed me a silver flask. I opened it, and took a drink, expecting alcohol. But I got something far worse, vampire blood.
"Yes... drink it... and I got something to soothe the pain..." But I blanked before anything else happened.
Once I awoke, my clothes were gone. My body only stayed warm from the covers I laid under. I tried turning my head towards Audrey beside me, but my head seared with pain. In merely seconds, it was gone. Everything in me felt, off. Something in my mouth felt strange as well.
"Morning Frankie..." Audrey greeted, "I had so much fun last night," She giggled, "And the nights before that..."
"Really? Woah..." I felt my teeth, I had two large fangs in front. When I looked down at my hand, it was pale. Quickly, I sat up with a hand to my neck. Two holes had been pierced on the left side, "Audrey, what the hell happened to me!?"
"You asked me to turn you. So I turned you, and then we fucked," She giggled, "Like a lot."
"Wait, how long have I been here!?"
"Uhm," She thought for a moment, "About three days."
"Oh shit," I laid back down and then snickered, "My dad's gonna be pissed."
"Frankie?" I hummed, she leaned close and kissed me, "You make such a hot vampire. I just knew you would..."
"Audrey babe, you're pretty hot yourself." Just like that the room got heated again as she kissed me over and over and over.
"Hey has he- oh gross!" Timmy had walked into the room. Audrey pulled away and immediately slipped on a shirt.
"Timmy, get out! I'm not dressed!" Audrey cried.
"Neither am I!" I said.
"Eww! You two are so lucky I slept through all that gross stuff!"
"You slept for three days?" I asked.
"Uh, yeah...? I do that sometimes." I hummed.
"Please get outta my room."
"Oh right, yeah..." Timmy walked out and almost immediately Audrey pulled me in for one last kiss before getting dressed. I got dressed as well and met Timmy in the kitchen.
"Audrey!" He whined, "Do you have any grape Surge?" As he asked this, I was somehow able to tell him.
"I dunno, check the fridge."
"Woah Frank, you look so cool as a vampire."
"She does have grape Surge," I said, "I can smell it. And thanks."
"Woah, that's sick!" Timmy cried, rummaging through the fridge and grabbing one, "What else can you do?" He asked, shutting the refrigerator door and handing Audrey a cherry Surge.
"I dunno, uhm..."
"C'mon rat boy, whatta ya-" Suddenly, I had become smaller. What happened to me?
"Hey guys, what's going on!?" But only little squeaks left my lips.
"Frank, you've turned into a rat!" Timmy bursted out laughing. I changed back.
"Ay fuck off," We talked and laughed until finally, it got dark outside, "I'll see ya later babe. Gotta go piss of my father." She giggled.
"Be back soon..." She kissed me goodbye before I waved to Timmy and left.
Without much thought, I turned into a bat and swiftly flew towards home. Once there, I turned back and knocked on the door. My father opened it, and my insides felt as if they were boiling. Priests and vampires don't mix... oil and water...
"Frank, where have you been!? I've been worried sick!" He cried as I stepped in. Then, he got a good look at me, "Frank Anthony Iero Jr. tell me that is makeup and not-"
"I'm a vampire." I said with a smirk, showing of my pretty fangs. Anger streamed through my father's veins. He yelled at me like every other night about staying up late and vampire nonsense. Basically, I had tuned out until he said two words I never thought I'd hear from him.
"Get out." I stepped back.
"What?"
"You're no longer a child of god. Get out of my home! You sick vile creature of satan!" Oh shit...
"Fine! I'll go! Fuck this place! I hate it here anyways!" I ran to my room, packing a bag of essentials, "I don't need you! I don't even wanna be here! Fuck off!" With my bag slung over my shoulder, I sent one last 'fuck you' through my middle finger, and sped off to Audrey's. Quietly, I knocked on the door, but there was no answer.
"Audrey?" I asked, opening the unlocked door. That was when, I heard noises from her bedroom, "Audrey..." I gotta bad feeling about this... fuck... I know what's gonna happen... I know what this is... I know what I'm gonna find...
Silently, I cracked open the door to find Timmy on top of Audrey. Yeah... I knew it... fuck this still hurts...
"Well fuck you both then." I said, they immediately turned to me, trying to speak. But I ignored it and sped away. So, I sat alone in a dark alleyway. Only a bag of essentials and my tears kept me company. Then, I heard footsteps.
"... I can't believe Nicolae is dead! He was like, another father to me!" A boy cried.
"Gee, I'm sorry man. This sucks. I mean, what're we gonna tell ma'? Ugh, I hate this." Another boy said. Why do I feel the need to talk to them...?
"Uh, hi?" I spoke, they turned towards the alleyway where I now stood, "Are you two vampires?" They nodded. One had black hair that went to his shoulders while the other had sandy blond hair and glasses.
"Just got turned the other day." The dark haired one explained.
"I finished the process just this morning," I explained, "I'm Frank."
"Cool, I'm Gerard, this is my little brother Mikey."
"Sick, uhm, would it be alright if I stuck with you guys?"
"We don't really have anywhere to go. But sure."
"I don't either, I guess we can find our way together." We then began walking down the sidewalk in a group together.
"So, how'd you turn, Frank?"
"Well..."
Ray
Ray's pov
Quietly, I walked down the sidewalk as the moon shone bright over the dark street. No one was around. At least I thought. Just keep to yourself... nothing bad will happen... just walk home... you'll be fine...
Little sounds came out from the darkness that only caused me to pick up my pace. Just go home... the duplex is right there... I should be fine...
Almost immediately, a loud woosh was heard from beside me. When I turned, I was hit over the head by someone behind me and was knocked unconscious. Once I awoke, there was no telling of where I could possibly be. The ceiling was white, my neck hurt, and I couldn't move. Fuck... where am I? What happened?
"Oh you're awake! Yay!" A male voice spoke, but I couldn't move to see them. But, they stuck their face close to mine so I could see them.
"Hi," He greeted, "I'm Wallace." A smile spread across his grey cheeks. Now that I really looked at him, the only thing I really noticed were the gigantic orange spikes coming out of his hair and his bright blue eyes with messy eyeliner painted on.
"And you are?" He asked with a smile that made him look even more insane than before.
"R-Ray..."
"Ray! Sick name. Well, Ray, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Where am I?" He snickered.
"Nowhere."
"Am I dead!?"
"No... well..." He held a hand to his chin for a moment, thinking, "You're like, half and half, y'know?"
"Did you turn me!?"
"Uh, no, but Sammy did! I'd introduce ya but she got hit by a truck full of garlic the other day so, she's chillin' down under." What the fuck!?
"I know right!? What are the chances? Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I can read minds!"
"Can I go home?"
"No, not yet."
"Why'd you turn me?"
"Sammy said you looked hot so she bit you so she could do things with ya. Obviously that ain't happening now. Unless you don't mind fucking a corpse?" I sent a disgusted look, "Alrighty then. Since she's gone, we'll probably just let ya go."
"Where am I?"
"I told you! Nowhere!" He sighed, "It's like a hospital for vampires. Except, more low key and messy and there's no real doctors and some vampires just chill here, and it's also kinda just where vampires go when they got nowhere else to. That's why it's called nowhere."
"Mkay, when can I go? And why're you here?"
"Cause I'm bored and whenever the numbing thing they gave ya wares off," He explained, "Ya might not wanna go home though."
"Why!?"
"That area is a no vampire zone. I dunno how Sammy got in and out but yeah," I sighed, "So, Ray, what's up with you?" Just then, my fingers began to tingle.
"I think it's wearing off," Slowly, I sat up, and moved around a bit, "I'm a vampire. Fuck..." I ran a hand down my face, upset.
"Hey man, it's not that bad. We're actually pretty rad." As he spoke I examined my light grey hand in front of me.
"Can you show me where to leave?" He nodded.
"Yeah yeah, come come..." He signaled for me to follow him out of the white room, down some stairs, and into a reception room. So many different vampires of variant species sat around. Wallace and I now stood in line of the reception desk while three boys stood in front of us.
"... look, ma'm, we've sat! We've waited! We've signed and filled out forms! My girl-... a girl, Audrey, told me vampires come here when they got nowhere to go. Can you please, help us!?" A short boy with black hair and shaved sides said.
"Sit down and I'll help you when you're-"
"Agh!" A boy with long dark hair began, "We've been sitting and waiting for so long! Can't you just, help us now!?"
"No, now give me a name, and sit down."
"Gerard." The boy spoke irritatedly, not moving from the desk.
"Now go sit down. I'll be with you in a moment."
"Ma'm, we've been sitting here all day long, waiting for someone. Can't we just-" A boy with sandy blond hair and a beanie began, but was interrupted by the boy with shaved sides.
"Alright babe, if we don't get a room anytime soon that guy right there is gonna go bat shit and you don't wanna witness that." He referred to Gerard.
"Hey, Janice, are ya having trouble with these assholes?" Wallace spoke up. The three turned to him.
"Uhm, I'll be okay Wallace."
"Are you-"
"That's it! Ahh! I can't take it any longer!" Gerard yelled in frustration and immediately, the woman at the desk, and Wallace beside me, exploded into a million pieces. They had been scattered all around the waiting room while blood stained everyone's clothes and the vampires sitting down, stared. Holy shit... yeah I need to befriend them...
"Uh, hi?" I greeted, sort of. Their eyes darted towards me.
"Dude, just leave him alone. He's had a rough couple of days." The short one explained.
"We all have." The blond said.
"If I heard correctly, you're all new vampires? Right?" They nodded, "I am too. Could I join you guys?" They looked to each other, then the blond gazed back at me.
"Yeah, but we have nowhere to go." He explained, pushing up his glasses.
"I don't either."
"Cool," The short one said, "I'm Frank. This is Gerard and his brother Mikey."
"I'm Ray."
"So..." Frank looked to the blood stained reception chair as the red liquid ever so slowly moved towards its former body still being reconstructed, "Gerard blew up the receptionist. We should probably get outta here before she comes back."
"Yeah..." Mikey spoke, eying the receptionist one last time, before we left what now appeared to be some sort of abandoned hospital. Huh... weird...
"Where're we going?" I asked. The three shrugged.
"Wherever the road takes us," Mikey said, "Unless you know a place?"
"Nah, not anymore."
"Mkay, better start walking. The sun'll be out soon and we'll be burned to a crisp," Frank explained, "Bats anyone?"
"Yeah, let's do that."
"What?" I asked.
"Oh, can you turn into a bat?" I shrugged, "Try turning into one." I attempted turning, and surprisingly, was successful.
"Hell yeah, let's go!" Frank cried before turning into one himself with Gerard and Mikey right behind him.
We all flew around through the night, not having a single place to go nor a damn about what was to come later. We just, had fun, making it seem as if we had known each other for ages instead of just a few hours. Of course with the exception of Mikey and Gerard. These guys... they're cool...
