20: He Needs Saving Too Sometimes

Gerard and I sat around at his house, doing nothing at all, waiting for a knock at the door. A night out is definitely what we need after everything that's happened... maybe this time it won't go so horribly...

Just then, the knock we had been waiting for had rang through the little living room. We both got up, Gerard opened the door, taking my hand.

"Hey guys..." Frank greeted with the other two behind him.

"Hey man, ready, jellybean?" I nodded, and we were off.

The night was fairly cool, quiet, and the musty smell of rain still filled the air from this morning's showers. It seemed as if the boys were talking non stop, yet I could barely pay attention to them. Some strange feeling ran through my body, like we were being watched.

But, if anyone were near, Frank would be able to smell them, right? I'm just being paranoid...

A tussle was then heard from a nearby bush, but no one else seemed to be paying any attention. My gaze ventured towards it, but I was only torn away by the connection of Gerard and I's hands.

Something's not right... who am I kidding? Something's always 'not right' these days...

Everything in me tried to ignore it, but the feeling only grew stronger. So, I did the only thing I could think to do.

"Gerard?" I tried, but he seemed very invested in whatever Frank was saying, "Gerard?" He didn't answer, still not being able to hear me, "Gerard!?" Finally, he turned to me, and smiled.

"What is it, babe?" He asked, pulling away from the conversation.

"Uhm, I have this really weird feeling that we're being followed..."

"Followed!?" He smiled once more, "We're not being followed, sweetheart. If we were, Frank would be able to smell em' out in seconds."

"Yeah, and if that fails, you have the toughest group of vampires to fight em' off!" Frank reassured.

"I know, but-"

"There's no reason to worry, I promise." Gerard sent another toothy smile and went back to the other conversation while the bushes still tussled around us. Without a word, I moved my hands to hold Gerard's arm. The bushes... how do they not notice?

My eyes were now glued to the moving bushes until we reached the buildings. But even there, strange noises rang through alleyways and the tops of storefronts. The darkness only made it all worse. Something's not right... something's not right...

The boys burst into laughter as the shape of a man appeared for merely a second as we passed by an alleyway. More loose noises rang through the dark sidewalk. In my mind they only became louder and louder. Leaving me with flashbacks to every possible bad thing that had happened in the past few months.

"Jellybean, are you alright?" Gerard asked.

"Uhm... I... I dunno..." I was in a haze. Memories upon memories blinded me. The sounds drowning out anything and everything. What's happening to me!?

"Y/n? Y/n!? Jellybean!?" A hand was held to my head, and I was brought to the edge of a sidewalk where I was sat down, "Are you alright?" My own hands rubbed at my eyes, leaving only specks in my vision resembling colorful stars that slowly faded away.

"Yeah... yeah... I think I'm-" Just then, a group of boys surrounded our posse. Each one yelling loud, only worsening what I had thought to be almost gone. They only made it hard to see who they were.

"Who the hell...?" Gerard stood up.

"Pete!?" A boy called, "What the- ahhh!"

There was more yelling, without even thinking my hands had gone to my ears. My vision went foggy again, dizziness ensuing until I could no longer comprehend what was going on. When a loud thud was heard, and I was out.

Waking up, all my strange symptoms had gone away. Opening my eyes, it seemed as if I was in some sort of bedroom. But it definitely wasn't mine or Gerard's. A searing pain ran through a small spot on my head. Gerard... Gerard! Where is he!?

Looking around the foreign bedroom, I found a window just by the bed. A night stand just underneath. Quietly, I sat up, peering through the blinds. It's still dark out... wait... how long was I asleep?

Just then, there was shuffling at the door. Immediately, I panicked and pretended to be asleep with my eyes not fully shut. The door opened as a boy with glasses and blond hair came in. One that definitely wasn't Mikey. He looked at me for a moment, then sighed. Who is this guy?

"Hey... pst! Hey..." He whispered, I didn't dare move, "Pst... hey!" He shook me lightly. So, I fully opened my eyes, scared. Keeping quiet, I only stared at him.

"Hey, it's okay... I'm not gonna hurt you..." The boy softly spoke, "I'm Patrick, don't worry, you're safe now." Safe!? I was safe before!

"From those vampire boys," He had noticed my confusion, "The ones you were walking around with?" But once again, there was no speaking for me. No... where are they!? Gerard! Not again... oh, baby...

"Can you talk?" He asked, I nodded, "Will you talk?" I shook my head. I'm not telling them anything... not until I see Gerard...

"Oh, well, I promise I'm not gonna hurt you. Those vampire boys seemed to have done a number on you already, anyways..." He pointed to my bruised skin as I showed more confusion. I pointed to them, and shook my head, "They didn't do that?" I shook my head again, my hands began doing the same thing.

"Who was it?" But I didn't say. What if he works with him!? What if he takes me back!? Oh god...

Only thoughts of Billie filled my mind, bringing tears. Gerard... I need him...

"Hey, those boys can't hurt you any longer. You're safe. It's okay," He kindly smiled, "Are you hungry?" I nodded, if I'm being completely honest... no, I just wanna get out of this room and find my love...

"C'mon, you can come with me." He held a hand out, hesitant, I took it. He smiled again, leading me away from the bedroom. This is an actual house... not an apartment... or duplex... where are we? How far am I from home? From Gerard?

"Here we are, you can sit if you want." I did so, taking a look around. The kitchen opened up into the living room so you could see through. Where is he!?

Suddenly, the sound of a door opening then quickly closing sounded loud. A man walked towards us, he had dark hair, and wore no shirt. Dark hair... not Gerard dark... who are these people!? Gerard... Frank... Mikey... Ray... I must find you...

"Ah, Pete, put on a shirt! We have a guest." Patrick said, but it hadn't even phased me. The dark haired boy groaned and slipped on a random shirt lying on the couch. Vampire... he's a vampire! Pete... I think they've talked about a Pete before...

"Don't worry, Pete's a vampire, but he's not gonna hurt you." Yeah... maybe he knows Gerard...

The dark haired boy smiled, showing fangs. I smiled back.

"Dude, you can't just show your fangs at her! She was just taken from a group of vampires."

"But she smiled back. She's not scared." Patrick came over, handing me a bowl of crackers before questioning.

"Are you scared of Pete?" I shook my head and smiled. What kinda silly question is that?

"But, you're human! Right!? You should be scared..." I shook my head once more.

"Is she like, mute or something?" Pete asked.

"No, she just doesn't wanna talk." The dark haired boy scanned me, curiously.

"What's that?" He pointed to a bite mark on my neck. My eyes went wide, that's from Roxanne... not Gerard! Oh, this isn't good...

"She was probably fed from." Patrick simply stated.

"I can't believe they were harvesting her! I thought they were a good group..."

"Yeah, it's a shame." They spoke for only a moment longer before Patrick left the room and I was left with the dark haired boy who now sat on the couch. Without a word, I joined him. He seemed surprised, but didn't mind.

"So, what's your name?" I played with my fingers, nervously, "Oh right, you don-"

"What did you do with my friends?" I spoke fast.

"Friends? But it was just you."

"No it wasn't. My friends. Gerard, Frank, Mikey, Ray. Where are they?"

"Sweetheart, what are you talking about?"

"You guys took me from my friends. I need to know where they are." How much more clear can I be?

"Those aren't your friends. They only wanna fee-"

"I've heard it a dozen times and I'll probably hear it a dozen times more. I don't care what you have to say about my relationship with Gerard. I love him and I need to get to him now."

"What!?" He was so shocked by what I had to say, "Holy shit, they really messed you up, didn't they?" A hand went to my chin. No! They're not bad! They're good! Why is this so hard!?

"I'm not messed up," I tore away from his grasp, "Just, please, let me see them."

"I can't do that."

"Why not!?"

"Because, they'll just, eat you."

"Why does everyone say that!?"

"Because it's true. You've got a bite mark right there!" He rubbed a finger over it, but I pulled away.

"That's not from them. These bruises aren't from them. They wouldn't lay a finger on me."

"Where are they from then?" I nervously laughed as tears threatened my eyes.

"This bite mark," I pointed, "From Gerard's ex girlfriend. She tried to turn me. These bruises, from a cannibal named Billie. These scratches," I pointed to the almost healed ones on my legs, "A werewolf. And well, this one," I pointed to my head, "Well, this one's also from Billie, but this one right here, from you guys. You've made a mistake. They're good boys. They're good vampires!"

"What about that bite mark." He pointed to the one I had almost entirely forgotten about. The one Gerard had left. It was nearly faded all the way.

"Uhm, that one's from Gerard," He looked at me like he was right, "But it was an accident! He won't do it again... never again..."

"Sure, how do you know that?"

"He promised, and I trust him," I smiled, thinking of my vampire boy, "Please, can I at least see Gerard?"

"What!? No, of course not..."

"Mikey?" He shook his head, "Ray?" He did it once more, "Frank!?" And again. My gaze went to the ceiling as hot tears dripped down my chin.

"Oh don't pull that on me. It won't work." I have no intention of guilting him... I genuinely want to see them... see that they're okay...

"It won't!" He then sighed, eyes on my teary eyes, "Okay..."

"Really!?" I happily cried.

"Yeah, but I'll be in the room with ya."

"Oh, thank you!" Without even thinking, I hugged the boy. It definitely freaked him out, but I didn't take any notice of it. Gerard... my love...

"C'mon..." He got up, leading me through the hall and down some stairs, but stopped at a door, "If anything sketchy goes on, I'm jumping in." I nodded, thoughts only on Gerard.

He unlocked the door and let me in first. The room had only one light bulb that seemed to be on its last legs lighting the room. My eyes scanned the small basement, until a familiar pair of hazel eyes met mine.

"Jellybean..."

"Gee..." He smiled, and I ran into his arms. He kissed the top of my head, smiling like mad. I did the same. Happy tears now covered my cheeks.

"Oh beanie, I'm so happy you're okay. They wouldn't let me see you."

"They thought you were hurting me. I told them you weren't, but they wouldn't believe me." I cried.

"It's okay, it's okay now. I gottcha, pop tart." I giggled, he kissed my face up and down, leaning his forehead up against mine. He sent a happy look that made my spine tingle.

"Gerard, I love you so much."

"I love you too." He tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, and pressed his lips to mine.

"Are the other boys...?"

"Yeah, they're okay." He pointed towards them.

"Okay, I gotta take you back up now." The dark haired boy that wasn't Gerard or Frank said.

"What!? No! I can't..." I turned to Gerard, "Don't let him take me, I wanna stay with you..."

"Pete, don't do this. We'd never hurt her, you know that." Mikey said, the other boys looked to Pete. He held an unsure look.

"I dunno, if Patrick finds out..."

"Patrick's a little wimp. We could take him out if you need."

"No! Don't do that, just, just go. Go!" He opened the door wide, so we ran. Up the stairs, through the halls, getting looks from other residents of the home. But we made it outside, Gerard held onto my hand, tight. He gave me a look that I had never seen before, but it was a good one.

"We made it, let's get home." But he had spoke too soon. A blond boy with glasses came out from behind a bush, and it was not Mikey. He held something in his hands that we couldn't quite see.

"You think I'm a little wimp!?" He stepped forward, making it clear that it was a gun he held, "This has silver bullets." He smirked.

"Patrick, you don't have to-"

"I'm not going for you, it's her," I stepped back, "She's a something special, isn't she?" Once again, tears stained my cheeks.

"No, she's a human."

"Sure, you just, have a human girl following you around! Is she a werewolf!?"

"No..." Gerard answered, in complete shock.

"Patrick, put the gun down..." Mikey calmly said, inching towards him.

"I will not put the gun down!" He jumped away from the boy with blond hair and glasses that was in fact, Mikey, gun still pointed at me.

"Please, don't shoot..."

"I'll do whatever I want! I'm sick and tired of people acting like I'm the soft one! I'm the wimp and I'm scared of everything! Well I'm not! Fuck all of you!" I stepped back again, startling him. A shot had been fired aimed right for me. Except, I stood standing, unscathed, with Gerard's hand, absent from mine.
