14: Your Dull Words can bring Him to Tears

In the morning, the curtains were drawn so only a small stream of sunlight shown through. Y/n still slept soundly as I played with her hair, She's still so pale... so weak... she didn't deserve this...

"Y/n?" I whispered, ever so softly, there was no reply, "Y/n? Jellybean?" Her eyes fluttered open, and looked to me.

"Hey Gee," She rubbed her eyes, "What happened last night?"

"You got bitten, but I think you'll be okay now."

"Bitten!? Oh, Gerard I'm so dumb! That Roxy girl, in the bathroom!" She sat up as the memories came back to her, "I tried to fight her back, I'm so weak. I couldn't."

"It's not your fault, babe. Roxy is insane, and she's got super strength, so it wasn't fair, anyways," She looked down at her fingers, clearly upset, "Y/n, I'm sorry for what happened last night. It should've been me in there, not you. She's just, trying to get to me."

"She knows I'm a human." She quietly said, just as tears began to form.

"Oh, please don't cry," I hugged onto her, "It's okay, pop tart, shhh..."

"What if she tells everyone? What will happen to you? To us? To me?" She asked, worried.

"I'm not entirely sure, but it doesn't matter what happens to me. I won't let anything happen to you, I promise. I'll keep you safe, my love." I kissed her cheek, as she cried into my chest.

"I... I don't want anything to happen to you," She whispered, "You don't deserve that."

"Well, I'd rather have something happen to me than you," She looked up at me, scared, "Besides, it's gonna take more than what they've got to take me down, and who knows, maybe they'll be fine with us."

"But what if they aren't?"

"We'll just have to wait and see." She brought her gaze back down, then giggled.

"I should probably change out of this nasty dress now, huh?" I smiled.

"Yeah, that's probably a good idea." I chuckled.

She pulled away and walked towards her closet. I just laid back on the bed, watching her fingers touch each of her shirts, with a short clicking sound from the hangers clacking against each other. She pulled out a purple sweater I had seen her wear about a dozen times with a random pair of jeans. She looked back at me and smiled.

"Oh, do you want me to leave?" I asked, I've never seen much of her body before... just her back last night... and her hands, of course...

"I mean, you don't have to." She answered, unsure of her words.

"I just, don't wanna make you uncomfortable." She smiled, and looked to the floor.

"Baby..." She began, "... I don't mind..." She began to nervously bite at her lip.

"Why you all nervous, then?"

"I've just, never been really good at this..."

"Good at what?" I asked.

"Oh, y'know... that... and well, anything like that..."

"It's okay, we don't have to do anything you don't wanna."

"But, we've been together for awhile now," She sat on the bed, still holding onto the clothes, "Aren't you, y'know... bored?"

"Why would I be bored?" I sat up and hugged her from behind, "I couldn't possibly get bored, you're the most amazing thing to happen to me." I told her, honestly.

"You really mean that?"

"Of course," I smiled, "I've fallen for you."

"And so have I with you." She giggled.

"I'll be downstairs, when you're ready."

"Okay, thank you." She kissed my cheek.

"Why are you thanking me?"

"You saved my life, and well, you deserve it."

"Well, no problem then." I smiled at her, before shutting the door and walking downstairs. As I took a seat on her little couch, I began to realize how off she felt.

She was still pale... isn't she the one who usually looks on the brighter side? She asked all those questions... maybe she's just scared... of course, she was just bitten by a bitch... drank the blood of a bitch... I really hope she's okay...

"Gee? You okay?" She asked, pretty eyes on me.

"Yeah, I'm fine, just thinking."

"Thinking about what?" She asked, taking a seat next to me.

"You, are you feeling well?" I asked.

"Yeah, why?"

"You were just bitten and forced to drink blood! How can you be well?"

"I dunno," Her fingers tracing shapes in the couch cushion, "My head kinda hurts, but it's nothing to freak out over."

"Are you sure you're feeling fine?" I asked, once again.

"Uh, yeah, I'm fine. What, do you think I'm lying?" Her gaze moved from the cushion, to my eyes. A flash of light ran through them, only for a split second.

"No, jellybean, not at all. I'm just, worried about you."

"Don't be, I'm fine." She said, more sternly. Without hesitation, I put my hand to her head, She's cold... she's so cold...

"You're not fine, I'm taking you to the hospital."

"No! I said I'm fi-" She paused, then looked to the floor, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell. I..." she immediately started sobbing.

"Baby, c'mere," I hugged her as she cried, "It's okay, sugar girl, calm down," Gently, I shushed her as she calmed down, "I'm gonna take you to the hospital, you really don't look too good. Do you have an umbrella anywhere I can borrow?" She nodded and pointed to the closet under the stairs.

Shuffling through the little closet, I found it on the floor. My hand held hers as we made it to the porch. Before leaving, I put on my sunglasses and popped open the umbrella over head. She hugged onto me as we walked to the hospital, just a few blocks away.

"It's really nice how you live kinda in the middle of everything." I said, trying to make conversation during our quiet walk.

"What's that supposed to mean?" She asked with a rude tone.

"I just mean that it's cool, you're really close to everything. That's all," She gave me a strange look, but kept walking, "I'm not trying to offend you or anything, I'm just trying to talk with you."

"Maybe you should've thought about that before you bit me..." She muttered, instantly tearing at my heart strings.

"What?" I asked, full of disbelief.

"Oh you heard me."

"Sugar, you know I didn't mean to bite you. You know it was an accident! Why would you say something like that to me? What the hell is going on with you?" I asked, looking into her eyes. This time, I noticed red specks littered the pretty e/c eyes I knew way too well.

"Nothing! There's something wrong with you! Everyone says you're only with me to feed on me! I think they were right..." She cried, causing a tinge at my heart.

"Baby, you don't mean that!" I cried, "You know I'd never do that, I love you way too much to do anything like that..." I explained as we walked through the hospital entrance.

"How?" She sighed, "I think Josh was right, I shouldn't be with a vampire." Before I could even get to the information desk, my eyes teared up, without thinking, I hugged onto her. It was the only thing keeping me from falling to the floor.

"Don't say that! Don't say that! Please, I care about you so much... my jellybean..." I sobbed. She pushed me away, a look of neglect that I had never once seen until now came upon her pretty face.

"Excuse me? Sir, do you need any help?" The receptionist asked.

"Yeah... yeah uh, my... my girlfriend right here she... she was almost turned into a vampire... but we got the blood outta her but I'm not sure if she's okay." I explained, barely keeping it together.

"What's her name?"

"Y/n L/n," I said.

"Okay, take a seat and wait for her name to be called." She said.

"Okay... okay, thank you." Y/n had already sat down, looking as if she couldn't care less about what happened to her.

"You didn't really mean any of that stuff you said, right?" I asked, still processing all of the horrid things that came out of her pretty mouth.

"What makes you think I didn't?" She asked, not even looking at me.

"Cause that's not like you! You're usually so nice, and happy, and just... so sweet... to everyone..." I explained, "It breaks my heart to see you like this, and I'm sorry. This is my fault. I promised to be by your side the whole time last night, and I blew it." My hand went over hers. She gazed back at me.

"Why do you even care?" She asked.

"Why do I care?" I smiled, "I care because you're my girl! You're my little jellybean, pop tart! You're the love of my life! The girl of my dreams! Everything about you, is amazing. Without you, I'd still be sad and lonely."

"You don't mean that..."

"Of course I mean it."

"Wouldn't you rather be with a vampire girl?"

"Why would I want that? When I've got you?" She opened her mouth to respond, but her name had been called before she got the chance, "That's us!" We stood up and followed the nurse through the hall and into a plain hospital room that looked like any other. We sat next to each other, waiting for what was to come.
