Chapter 32: The Choices of Children
"Pirates! I want to fight pirates!" Screamed John Darling. In the midst of sending off Tigerlily, Tinkerbell had forgotten the insanity that was going on with the children. John suggested fighting pirates and all the other boys, plus Wendy, backed him up.
Peter Pan was standing in the middle of the group recounting the tale of how he beat up the pirates on his very first trip to Neverland. Tinkerbell remembered the event well. He had been frozen and asleep when she met him on that boat. Then he fell overboard and, by sheer luck, managed not to get eaten by a crocodile. When he finally made it to shore, he cried then passed out.
Currently, he was exaggerating through his teeth about being a pirate slayer but the lost boys, and girl, were eating it up. Tinkerbell flew over with her sternest "I'm in charge here" expression on her face.
"Tinkerbell! Will you fight pirates with me?" Peter Pan asked her with his most charming smile. It was a smile that Tinkerbell had never tried to resist before, and she didn't try to resist today either. Instead, she nodded her head vehemently and held on tight to Peter Pan's shoulder as he flew into the sky.
The other children also joined Peter Pan in the air. They had all been given plenty of fairy dust so they were flying machines. With Peter Pan leading the charge, they reached the pirate ship after a short period of flight. The deck of the ship was eerily quiet. Tinkerbell had only been on the ship once, to save Peter Pan. She wasn't quite comfortable with her sea legs yet.
"Come out ye gnarly blubber faces! I'm ready for a fight!" John Darling screamed as he swung his monocle around like a lasso. He had clearly only seen pirates in books and movies.
Peter Pan let out a hearty laugh and held a wooden sword in the air. The lost boys followed suit, each with a different weapon. Cubby had a slingshot, The Twins each had a pile of rocks, Ace had a club, Wendy had a needle/thimble combo, and Michael just had his teddy bear to cover his face with.
What came up from the depths of the ship, after being summoned by John, was something no one was expecting. He had a jet black mustache and beard combination with equally black eyes. His hat was fire red as were the rest of his clothes. Most of his body parts had been replaced by other things. There was a hook for his left hand and a peg for his right leg. Even one of his eyes seemed to be glass as it didn't move in tandem with the other one. The aura about him was menacing to say the least.
