Chapter 20: The Popularity of Tinkerbell

"Bell" Tinkerelias spoke the name in such a gentle manner yet Tinkerbell was still so surprised that she flew straight to the ceiling and bumped her head. Tinkerelais flew up after her and rubbed her head on the spot that hit the ceiling. He didn't say anything else.

"I'm back Elias, for good this time." Tinkerbell said, looking him straight in the eye. Tinkerelias smiled at her but still did not speak. He then gave her the sweetest look as he floated back to the ground. Tinkerbell wasn't sure if he believed her, but she was serious. The last few weeks had been enough excitement for a lifetime. It would be in everyone's best interest if no more lost boys found their way into Neverland.

Tinkerbell was determined to find her niche in Neverland and be content with it. Once her determination was in place, it wasn't so hard. She went back to her sewing and basically became the head seamstress for all of Neverland. It started out with just home fairy clothing but she sewed so quickly that her afternoons became boring. Tinkerelias was a good, strong tinker but he worked hard all day and didn't have any energy for hanging out at night.

Out of boredom, Tinkerbell started working on her friends' clothing. After she started working on Changerfaye and Growerkay's clothing things really picked up. The human fairies lined up in front of the home tinker warehouse to get their clothing altered by Tinkerbell. Normally human tinkers would take the generic brown cloth made by the home tinkers and alter it to seem more human. The only problem with human tinkers is that they don't make fairy clothing. The closest they get to making fairy sized clothing is when they make clothes for Barbie dolls, and Barbie has completely unrealistic proportions.

Tinkerbell became a one-stop shop for fairy fashion, so much so that she started setting trends. If it was made by Tinkerbell then it was meant to be worn to death. The only time Tinkerbell ever thought of Peter Pan was when she had nothing to do. Luckily, these days, down time was scarce. Sometimes, or more like most of the time, she worked straight through lunch to finish her clothing orders. On one of the rare occasions that she had time to break for lunch, the conversation around the table was very interesting.

"I swear I saw fire rising from the forest last night!" Said Growerkel. This piqued Tinkerbell's interest because the last fire she saw in the forest was made by Peter Pan.

"If there was a wildfire in the forest don't you think we would have heard about it or at least seen evidence of it? I haven't seen any singed trees lately." Replied Changerpenny in a snarky tone. Tinkerbell didn't join in on the conversation. She didn't want Tinkerelias to think she was going to leave again. She was going to keep her promise of staying put.

"The fire seemed contained when I flew over it." Growerkel seemed as if he were pleading with Changerpenny to believe him.

"Ohhhh so the animals are setting forest fires now! Good to know." Changerpenny said sarcastically.

"Why did Tinkerjoy give me such a small amount of pumpkin soup?" Asked Tinkerelias. He obviously wasn't paying attention to the fire conversation.

"They say that fruits and veggies are scarce lately. The plant growers are worried about it. The trees seem to be bare of fruits and even the animals aren't scurrying around the woods like they used to. With the lack of animal activity in the forest I doubt they are going around setting fires." Said Watcherlyn. The last sentence was meant for Growerkel as Watcherlyn said it jokingly. Tinkerbell wondered what could be making the animals disappear. The lunch bell rang signifying it was time to return to work and Tinkerbell let the thought drop.
