9. What Friends Are For
[LYNN POV]
My body stiffened the moment I awoke, only to relaxed once I realized it was Orlando's arms that were wrapped around my back.
My cheek were pressed against his chest and in a very uncomfortable position. The smell of his signature men soap filled my nostrils and was surprised when I found it calming.
I slowly lifted his arm away from me, and tried to get out of his embrace. Just when I thought I was gonna be free, his other arm came back snaking around my upper shoulder.
Jeez.
Why did he stay with me anyway? Didn't he have an appointment with a client earlier?
And boy, he held me like this for hours in such an uncomfortable position. How did he manage to sleep and snore so soundly?
"Orlando?" I nudged him softly.
Orlando stopped snoring and hummed, his eyes opened in slits. He smiled sleepily at me and let me go, rubbing his eyes awake.
"You okay, luv?" he asked as he straightened himself.
"Not really. My boyfriend for four years turns out to be a cruel, heartless stranger that I never even knew possible," I admitted.
His words and accusations towards me was playing on my mind. Disappointment and a feeling of loss filled me again, leaving a hole in my chest.
Where was the sweet, gentle Joel that I knew?
"Hey," Orlando tilted his head down to look at my face intently and gave me a small, sympathetic smile.
I sighed and returned his smile.
"You missed your appointment because of me. I'm sorry, monkey," I apologized, feeling embarrassed for breaking down in front of him earlier.
"Don't be sorry. Isn't that what friends would do?" he said with a smile.
My heart filled with warmth as I looked into his kind, dark brown eyes that wrinkled slightly on the edges with his sincere smile. I felt tears started to well in my eyes again and I moved forward to embrace him, burying my cheek into his shoulder.
"Thankyou, Orlando."
"Anything for you, luv," he answered softly and I felt him smiling still when he rubbed my back comfortingly.
He pulled away to look at me and his smile faltered.
"Oh shit, luv..." he cursed softly. "Please don't cry again. You know I hate it when the ladies cry," he whined.
I let out a laugh as I wiped the tears from my already puffy eyes.
What a softie.
Orlando kissed my temple before getting up and offering his hand to help me up from the floor.
The moment I put my hand on Orlando's, CJ barged in from my door, his eyes wide for a moment as he glanced back and forth between Orlando and me.
"Oh my gosh, my bunny Lynn! Look what that son of a bitch did to you!" he exclaimed with worry written all over his face.
I got up and embraced CJ tightly.
"I came as soon as possible when Lee told me when I got back to set that he heard Joel came and made some scene. Are you alright?" he asked, putting his hands on the side of my face.
I nodded and smiled.
Jeez. Word traveled fast here. I fought the urge to cringe when embarrassment passed me at the thought that the whole set knew about Joel's visit.
CJ let me go and turned his head to see Orlando, winking at him.
"Orli, I'm so proud that you broke his nose," he muttered, earning a smile from Orlando.
"You know what, you two must be hungry. What about we three go out to eat some Japanese food for dinner? My treat," CJ offered.
I knew what he was doing. He was trying to cheer me up, knowing that sushi was one of my favorite food. A warm feeling filled me again.
"Sushi! Never say never to sushi!" exclaimed Orlando with an approving nod.
"Uh oh, Bieber fan spotted!" CJ teased.
I laughed when Orlando glared at CJ in distaste. "I'm just quoting the words. Doesn't mean I like Justin Bieber."
Both of them continued throwing banter towards each other in an attempt to light up the mood.
It worked.
I smiled all the way to the restaurant at their silly banter, counting my blessings for having these two amazing men as my close friends.
CJ ordered a VIP room for the three of us to eat and we three chatted pleasantly as we devoured our food.
Or it was more like CJ and Orlando devoured those Japanese.
[ORLANDO POV]
I watched Lynn played with her chopsticks and poked the poor salmon.
"You don't like the salmon, luv?" I asked her.
"More like she lost her appetite because of the son of a bitch," CJ answered for her.
Lynn shrugged as she dipped the salmon with soy sauce and wasabi.
"I just can't believe that he came in like that and embarrassed me. Now the whole set probably know about it. And the way he accused me... I still can't believe it was him," she muttered, her face fell.
Damn, she looked like she needed a hug.
"Listen to me, Lynn. I told you something was fishy about him since last year. He probably already started cheating on you then. You deserve someone much better than him, darling. You're just too good for him," ranted CJ dramatically.
"I should've listened to you back then. Sorry, CJ," replied Lynn.
"Uh huh."
I put my arm around Lynn's shoulders and rubbed her arm. She smiled up at me before we both turned to see CJ who smiled in an unsettling way.
"I know just the way for you to forget him quickly," he said with wide eyes, a scandalous expression on his face as he paused for a dramatic touch before he delivered his punchline.
I saw Lynn frowned a bit and looked at him questioningly. An amusement smile plastered on my face when CJ leaned in to us from across the table, as if he was going to spill a stolen, top secret information.
"I'm going to find you a date."
I tensed, the insides of my stomach churned uncomfortably, finding the idea to be upsetting.
CJ flickered his eyes back and forth between me and Lynn, who were silent and opted to stab her sushi instead.
"Is this not too soon?" I blurted.
CJ smiled like the devil again. "Orli, nothing is ever too soon. You only live once."
"I don't know, CJ. I don't think a rebound is what I need right now," Lynn finally spoke.
I sighed inwardly in relief and let out the breath that I didn't realize was holding.
"Yeah? So what, can't rebound blossom into love? How did you guys think I end up together with Mark? It was just after a painful breakup when he and I decided to meet up in a blind date, and boy wasn't it a love at the first sight," he reminisced dreamily, letting out a blissful sigh.
The image of Lynn, sitting on a table with a candle light with googly eyes at a random man in front of him was just bloody upsetting. Suddenly I lost my appetite and I chose to down the ocha green tea instead, finding it hard to swallow.
I shook myself from the image. Then again, why would I care if she goes on any date? She was entitled to her own choices.
"I don't know, CJ," I heard Lynn answered doubfully.
I looked at them, pretending to listen to the conversation and nodded once in a while. But to be honest, all I wanted to do was just get back to my trailer and sleep.
"Done already, Orli?" asked CJ nonchalantly.
"Yeah, I'm quite stuffed right now."
"Really? I remember back in LA you were eating thrice than you do now, I thought you were gonna hurt yourself."
I smiled bashfully, remembering my sushi eating competition with Viggo, Elijah and Liv.
"Oh my gosh, monkey," Lynn said in wonder. "You're a monster."
I chuckled and put my hands up in surrender.
"That was a long time ago. Now I already repent. Besides Legolas still needs to be able to wear his tunic without making the buttons fall apart," I told them before adding to Lynn.
"And I know just how much you find my abs to be attractive. I plan on keeping you happy," I said, mustering my most charming smirk at her.
I was surprised and pleased at the same time when I saw a faint reddish hue crept up her cheek. The grin on my face widened and I found a new strength to tease her.
"Hmm... Such a pretty blush. I knew eventually you will give in to me, luv," I said in a husky voice, snaking my arm around her delicate shoulders and brought my face closer to her to tease her even more.
I smiled smugly when Lynn looked at me angrily. She retaliated by pinching my stomach sharply and I jumped, causing a mini 'earthquake' on our table as CJ put it.
"Ow!"
"Get your hands off of me, you ugly monkey!"
CJ looked at us and shook his head, letting a tired sigh upon seeing me and Lynn's all too familiar exchange. He rolled his eyes and spooned his ramen.
"Here we go again," he mumbled. "Kids, stop fighting."
"Sorry, CJ. Shortie over here can't seem to keep her hands off of me," I said and smirked smugly at Lynn, enjoying her cute scowl.
I jumped again when she pinched me for the second time, causing the table to shake again.
"Aftershock," announced CJ when his ramen bowl spilled its content to the table.
