22. De Javu
Ben was a smart person and our chat soon became very engaging and interesting. But no matter how good our little tea time was, I couldn't bring myself to not think about Orlando and Miranda.
Oh God, they were both alone in the house. What if they ended up doing things like--
"Lynn?" called Ben with a small chuckle.
I facepalmed myself and apologized to him for zoning out while he talked.
"I am so sorry, Ben. That was really rude of me--"
"Don't worry, Lynn. I understand," replied Ben with amusement in his eyes.
"Thanks," I said with a blush. "You know I can't help worrying that my boyfriend is home alone with his supermodel ex-girlfriend."
Ben laughed heartily at me and heat crept up my neck in embarrassment. To say that I felt inadequate to call myself Orlando's girlfriend while his Victoria Secret ex were with him was an understatement.
Ben squeezed my hand on the table comfortingly and smiled warmly at me, as if knowing my inner turmoil.
"You don't need to worry about Orlando. He cares about you a lot and couldn't stop talking about you the last time we were filming. It felt as if I was married to you," he said, winking.
A laugh escaped my lips but soon it ceased. The inner question I had in mind slipped out of my mouth before I could stop myself.
"Do you think she's already gone by now?"
"Well, it's been a little over half an hour. I think so. Do you wanna go back? Let me walk you home."
I thanked him and went to reach for the bill but Ben stopped me and insisted to pay for our tea.
As we walked to the direction of Orlando's house, my heart lurched at the sight of the still parked silver car, but soon a relief washed through me when I saw from afar that Miranda was walking out and to her car door.
The beautiful, tall girl was standing gracefully by her car door, her brown hair rimmed her pretty but elegant face as she smiled softly and talked with Orlando, whose face were unreadable.
She smiled warmly at Orlando before placing both of her hands on his chest, making me held my breath in tension. Orlando looked away from her. Her lips were moving, saying things to him that I couldn't hear. Then with a sigh Orlando looked at her and nodded grimly.
Then she kissed him.
My heart went to my throat and a pain that wasn't physical was stabbing me inside. It felt strangely like a de javu with Joel, but this was Orlando. Tears pricked at my eyes but I refused to cry. Instead I let my anger took its place and I turned around to be anywhere but here.
"Lynn!"
Ben grabbed my hand and stopped me on my track. I clenched my jaw as I forced myself to look at him. His eyes were searching mine and I gritted between my teeth.
"I need to be alone."
He released his hand from mine and I walked back the way we came from. Anger boiled in my veins, overpowering the hurt and disappointment that I felt towards Orlando.
At the back I heard Orlando shouted my name but I walked faster, anywhere, my mind were set to avoid him at all cost at the time. Heck, I'd hide in one of the cafes if I had to.

[ORLANDO POV]
I closed the door behind me after I let Miranda got out first and walked her to her car. In my mind I was relieved that she was about to go, so we might as well end this drama and the whole pointless talks.
"Orli? Will you visit me some time if you ever be in LA?"
"I don't know. Think I'm quite busy with filming these days," I replied flatly with a shrug.
Miranda sighed and smiled at me. The beautiful smile that I loved before but now all I could decipher from it were all lies and acts. The sincerity that I knew from it was gone. Or maybe it was never been there in the first place?
"Am I not going to get at least a goodbye kiss?" she asked softly as she placed her hands on my chest.
I tensed and looked away from her in frustration, fighting myself not to roll my eyes.
Why can't she just go already?
"Orli, please. We're not going to see each other very often. Come on, for old time's sake. Give me something to remember," she pleaded, her eyes softened and she looked up at me wistfully.
Shit. Why did she had to pull up that look?
I sighed and looked at her, nodding reluctantly.
Miranda smiled and leaned up to kiss me softly, her eyes closed. I stood there like a fucking statue, unmoving, feeling how wrong the kiss was and prayed that it end soon enough.
Just as she pulled away (thank God), I looked away from her only to be met by the worst possible scenario any director could ever conjure in some horrible drama movie.
Far about a few houses away Ben was releasing his free hand from Lynn who started to walk away from him. Her back was on me, and she didn't even bother looking back. Then Ben turned his head and looked at me, giving me a hard look.
Holy Fuck!
It was as if someone just punched me on the pit of my stomach. A feeling of doom and shock settled over my head as I watched Lynn's retreating form.
For God's sake!
"Lynn!!!" I shouted her name and started to jog towards her.
I ran, ignoring Miranda calling my name and went straight for Lynn in panic.
Shit, shit, shit!
I couldn't believe my stupidity!
Just as I was about to pass Ben, he grasped my arm and stopped me. I was about to protest and open my mouth but he cut me.
"You owed her some time after the stunt that you just pulled back there," he said with a warning tone.
"Fuck!" I cursed under my breath and yanked my arm away from Ben's grasp.
I raked my hands through my hair in distress and paced around but didn't continue to chase Lynn, knowing that Ben was right.
"What was that?" he demanded.
"It was nothing," I said through gritted teeth.
"It didn't look much like nothing from the way we saw it from here," said Ben with disapproval latched in his voice.
Miranda's silver car went passed us, but we both ignored it and pretended not to see it.
"You hurt her, Orli."
"Yeah? Think I don't know that?" I snapped, before pinching the bridge of my nose and inhaled deeply.
"You got some bloody explaining to do."
"Damn right," I answered in defeat with a sigh.
Ben pushed the brown bag of groceries to my chest a little roughly and spoke.
"I'm going now. I have an interview in two hours. Alka Seltzer is in the bag, and good luck, mate. You're gonna need it."
With that he clapped my shoulder firmly and then proceeded to walk away after pulling his coat tighter to his neck to beat the cold air.
I looked inside the bag and saw a Starbucks bag containing espresso brownies, red velvet and an almond croissant. I smiled weakly at my finding before the bitter reality came back, knowing that what happened here might jeopardize my and Lynn's relationship.

[LYNN POV]
I made a sharp turn until I was out of sight and my jog reduced to a walk as I realized that Orlando had not followed me anymore. The anger I felt slowly dissipated and turned to sorrow instead as I continued walking.
My eyes stung as I recalled seeing Miranda and Orlando. 'And how perfect they looked together,' I thought bitterly.
Was it an act all this time? Was it not real, what I and Orlando had all these months? Did he still harbour any feelings for Miranda? I whimpered and sniffled, feeling cheated and hurt at the thought of Orlando, but blinked the tears away.
Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, one of the cause of my turmoil and anguish was calling me.
"Miss?" called someone with a feminine voice that rang pleasantly almost like a bell.
I thought my ears were cheating me, but again I heard the voice called, this time from right behind my back and I felt a hand tapped gently on my shoulder.
"Miss?"
I turned around and a magnificent sight was laid before me. She was beautiful and slim, with a look that would make every girl on earth jealous and every men want her.
Her body was clad with a dark grey designer's coat that looked expensive, flattering her curves in all the right places. She wore a high heeled leather boots, making me wonder why she needed them despite her already tall figure. Her brown hair cascaded her shoulder in a soft waves and she smiled softly at me, sporting a sorry look on her pretty face.
"Miss, I'm really sorry about what happened back then with Orlando. Me and him, we are friends and I would like to explain to you what happened. Please, forgive me."
"It's fine," I said flatly and gave her a nod, about to turn away before she stopped me.
"No, it's not. It's my fault and I would like to make it up to you. Please, will you have a coffee with me and give some time to explain? I mean well," she said quickly with concern and hope in her eyes.
I shifted my weight uncomfortably and weighed my options. I wanted so much to loose this girl and forget everything (after I maybe pull her gorgeous hair out of her scalp). But if I reject her, it would seem rude and childish given the politeness and the good will that she showed me.
"Sure," I finally said and forced a smile.
She smiled thankfully at me and gestured to her car.
"Well then in that case, what about you hop on and we go somewhere nice, miss..."
"Andrews. Call me Lynn."
"And I'm Miranda Kerr, it's nice to meet you," she said smiling, shaking my hand. "So, shall we?"
I held up my hand and smiled. There was no way in hell I get in the car of hers. She would probably try to abduct me and kill me, then send my remains to Orlando or my parents for all I know. I pointed to a random, nearby cafe and gestured to her.
"What about we go to that cafe instead?"

[Author's note: Tadaa! So what do you think? Please be kind and tell me your theories about Lynn's predicament! And last but not least-- thank you so much for reading this far, for the awesome comments and love! I love y'all! x
PS: I started this story with Adams as Lynn's surname, but then I continued using the name Andrews because I confused her with my other OC 😂😂😂 My bad. I'm getting old]
