12. Interrogation Night
[LYNN POV]
"Orlando," I called, knocking on his door for the third time. "Monkeey," I cooed loudly.
I lifted my fist, about to knock again when suddenly the door swung open, revealing the most wanted and desirable ape in New Zealand.
Orlando stood before me in all his glory, with only a black towel draped over his hips lowly to cover his body.
His short, curly hair were damp on his head. A strand of dark locks fell in front of his eyes, still dripping with water.
The water droplets ran down to his flawless, sculptured, tone abs in a way that was mouth watering and made me want to squirm. It went past a little sun tattoo that was engraved on his left hip.
Orlando cleared his throat and my head snapped up to his face. A naughty smirk plastered on his handsome face, and his eyes crinkled as he desperately, but failing, to contain his laughter.
Oh, for Pete's sake. I was busted checking him out. Heat crept up my neck and cheek, and I let out a nervous laugh at him, gulping hardly.
"Oh, luv. Please don't mind me. Go ahead and stare at me. I love it when you do," he teased me, seemingly pleased with himself.
I blushed harder and shoved the pastry bag and his ordered cup of caramel macchiato to his chest. I grinned up at him guiltily.
"Sorry. That little sun tattoo of yours is somehow always caught my eyes and made me curious," I told him with a shrug, still denying the fact that I was googling at his magnificent body.
Orlando leaned his body slightly across the door frame, a seductive smile played on his face and I felt slightly lightheaded at the sight. I tried to focus on his eyes but heck it was so difficult!
"Do you wanna touch it, love?" he asked in a husky voice.
"No, thank you!!" I exclaimed, ducking my head and slipped to his trailer from beneath his outstretched arm.
I heard Orlando howled in laughter behind me and went to close his door as I seated myself on his plush couch. I was trying hard to look unaffected by his looks by absently checking on my phone for new emails.
Oh shit... I had been looking at him in such a non-platonic way lately. I couldn't believe that I was checking him out!
Again.
What went wrong with me? I chided myself.
"Thanks for the coffee, luv. You're the best," he said, planting a quick kiss on my temple as I fixed my eyes on my phone, but my mind was not on it anymore as his proximity brought his wet, men soap scent hitting my nostrils.
Why did his scent smell so alluring and hot?
Wait, what? Did I just describe Orlando as alluring and hot?! Holy mother of god, I must had lost my mind.
I thanked the heavens that he went straight away to his room to change. Glad that he didn't see my crimson cheek that his little gesture caused. I exhaled a relieved breath that I didn't know I was holding.
This was exactly what caused my internal battle lately. He can't just go around and kissed me sweetly like that without me thinking that it was just a friend thing! Even CJ didn't do that to me!
Maybe that was an English thing? Hm, maybe.
Orlando, now fully clothed (thank goodness) went to sit next to me and placed the pastry I bought to a plate that he pulled from his kitchenette earlier.
The smell of the warm pastry hit my nostrils pleasantly and I smiled, looking up from my phone before glancing at Orlando.
I found his warm chocolate eyes trained on me with such fondness, in a way that always give me the urge to hug him and squeeze him like a giant teddy bear. My lips pulled up into a smile, mirroring his.
"How are you, luv?" he asked me, widening his smile, but his smile seemed to be a little off to me.
I squinted my eyes at him. He never asked me straight away about how I was. Usually he would just go around and asked me many random things about set or anything interesting that day.
"Usually you would start the conversation by either teasing me, which you did already," I blurted, earning an amused smile from Orlando. "...or by asking me straight away what movie I feel like watching today," I stated with question in my tone.
Orlando raised an eyebrow and smiled secretively, stalling to elaborate by grabbing my cup of coffee and sipped on it.
"Hey! That's mine!" I protested, but he ignored me.
"Hmm, yummy. What is this?" he asked, while studying the cup intently to decipher the codes written on the cup.
"Dark mocha frappuccino," I mumbled with mouth full of red velvet.
"This is good," he commented, taking more sip from my cup shamelessly.
I sighed and shook my head.
Orlando fixed his eyes on me and kept drinking my drink on purpose until I saw him almost drained the cup. My eyes widened in realization and the side of his lips turned up slightly.
"Orlando! Stop!!" I exclaimed, and he pulled out his mouth from the straw, guffawing evilly as I laughed along, pinching and hitting him.
Orlando turned his back on me and continued on his ministration to drain my coffee faster as I pinched him.
Did you know that he had a ticklish spot just under his ribs? I pinched him there and Orlando splattered coffee from his mouth. We laughed so hard at that as he wiped his wet mouth.
"That's my drink. Why do you keep doing that?!" I whined, wiping the laughter tear from my eye as I studied my now almost empty cup.
"Sorry, luv. I just think that your choice of drink somehow always looks better than mine," he answered with a goofy smile.
"You're so mean," I muttered, faking a hurt look.
"Aw, luv," he cooed, his eyes twinkled with humor as he offered me his drink. "Here, we can share mine."
"So, are you gonna ask me what movie we're gonna watch?" I said as I peered at the DVDs under his glass coffee table.
"I was thinking," he said nonchalantly, "What about we just talk and chat today?"
I raised my brows at him. "Really? You wanna spend time chatting instead? That's unusual. But, hey, that's not a bad idea," I said, smiling. "I presume you wanted to hear about my date last night?"
Orlando looked at me in wonder. "Luv, sometimes I swear, you read my mind."
I grinned and picked on some tuna puff and dipped it in a chili sauce. Orlando watched me like a hawk, undoubtedly waiting for me to spill about last night. I sighed.
"You looked like CJ right now when he interrogated me this morning," I mumbled.
Orlando looked at his fork on the plate and his face turned unreadable as he spoke.
"Do you like the guy? What's he like?"
I wondered at the change of his expression right now, but quickly shoved it away as I remembered my date last night. I exhaled.
"Just like CJ said, the guy is perfect. And a total gentleman."
I frowned slightly when I saw Orlando's knuckle turned white as he forked the cake after those words left my mouth.
"Do you like him?" he asked again, his expression hard and he was not meeting my eyes as he chewed the red velvet, leaving me in even more wonder and puzzlement at the edge of his tone.
"I do," I replied. "But he's not my cup of tea."
Orlando turned his head at me, his eyes searched mine in mild surprise and question. But deep in his eyes; why did he look slightly pleased? I shrugged.
"He's handsome and all. A whole package. But he talked almost all the time about his business. About stocks and economy. I mean, look at my face, Orlando," I said, facing him intently. "Do I look like I care about stocks and fiscal policy?"
Orlando burst out laughing. "You look like you enjoy organizing and bossing people around," I hit him playfully when he stressed the word 'bossing'. "...but I don't think you are cut for that kind of topic."
"Don't get me wrong, monkey. I graduated with business management degree, and I could keep up with him. But who can stand talking about it for an hour?"
Orlando howled with laughter and nodded. "The guy doesn't have any idea how to talk to a woman."
"Yeah," I confirmed, laughing. "He's actually nice, though not as amusing and fun like you or CJ."
Orlando gave me a dazzling smile and his dark orbs staring my blue ones intensely, but gently at the same time.
"Well, CJ is obviously unavailable. I'm single, and like you said I am much more fun than the Wall Street guy. I can make you laugh everyday," he promoted himself and I had to roll my eyes at him. "And not to mention that I'm maddeningly handsome. Sometimes I wonder how I could face my reflection everyday and not turning into gay."
I placed my forehead on his arm and clutched my stomach, laughing hard.
"See?" he muttered, looking down at me with a smile as he watched me laugh.
I nodded at him, still struggling to calm myself down. If I ever tell CJ that Orlando has turned gay, it would surely send CJ shrieking excitedly like a girl. He might probably considering breaking up with Mark if he thinks he has a chance with Orlando.
"Lynn," he called, brushing my hand lightly with his finger. "If I ask you to go on a date, will you give me a chance and go with me?"
My insides did a salto in my stomach. I stared at him in bewilderment. Was I imagining him saying those words? Did his lips move just now? I flashed him a playful smile.
"Monkey, you're pulling my leg."
"Humor me, Lynn."
I was left dumbfounded when I heard him say my name. He was pulling his attractive smile at me casually, but his eyes betrayed him. Inquiry and anxiety mingled in his chocolate eyes as they gazed at me hopefully.
"Look at us now. We basically dated almost everyday for 6 months now," I joked, and Orlando smile amusedly at me. "We almost always spend time together when we get a chance. So yeah, I guess that means I will, monkey."
"Is that a yes?" he questioned, and I wondered at his shining, hopeful eyes.
"What's the difference between a date and our current hang outs?" I asked quizzically, both confused and amused at the same time at this weird conversation.
"I can make it different for you. I can make it more special," he stated seriously, with no sign of mischief or jokes in his eyes. "Where did the Wall Street guy take you to last night?"
Oh my God. He wasn't being serious, was he? Shock and confusion made my head a little dizzy, or it was Orlando's intense eyes that did.
"I like it where we are. I like this more. Us, watching movies, or chat, eating high calories food and drinks," I said with a nervous laugh, unsure of how to respond to him.
"Don't you want a fancy date in a fancy restaurant? Because I'm more than willing and happy to do that with you, Lynn."
I felt all warm and tingly inside upon hearing my name escaped his lips, my heart pounded against my chest almost painfully.
"No," I replied softly, shaking my head in confusion.
I thought the wire in my brain were crossed in several places as a result, and I was left stunned, searching for any sign of mischief in his eyes that were nonexistent at the moment.
Orlando brushed a strand of hair that fell to my face and brought it behind my ear. His hand lingered on the side of my face as his beautiful eyes locked with mine.
There was a gravity that pulled me towards him that was so thick and tangible in the air. Some sort of electricity jolted throughout my body when his fingers brushed against the skin of my ear.
It scared me, but it excited me at the same time.
His eyes flickered to my lips. Our faces were only inches away from each other and my mind screamed for me to back away, run and hide somewhere when he leaned in closer to me.
Instead I was mortified and froze in place, my gut went up my throat. Clearly, my body wasn't mine to control anymore.
