11. Friend Zone
[ORLANDO POV]
It had been a month and a half since my and Lynn's arguments that night in her trailer. The fact that we made up just as quick as we argued that night was refreshing. It meant that our friendship would likely to last long.
I had just finished taking off the damn, itchy, fake blonde hair off of me and had my face washed from all the Legolas' make up.
I was bored to death the moment I sat on my couch after I got nothing left to do. It took me less than a minute to decide taking a stroll to Lynn's trailer.
Since I broke Lynn's ex's nose, Martin, Lee and Eva had started teasing me about Lynn and made kissy faces every time they caught me and Lynn together when they thought she wasn't looking.
Of course I threatened the life out of them not to tease Lynn in that area, for fear of reminding her of her bloody nose (literally) ex.
However I knew now that I was being too paranoid. She had improved so much after our argument that night. It was amazing that given her stubborn personality, she seemed to listen to me and tried her best to take care of herself.
I did my best in distracting her from him by teasing and annoying her as much as I could. Also more visits to the Japanese restaurant did some good, much to my pleasure, to the point where Lynn told me she was going to throw up every time she thought about sushi.
Slowly and bits by bits, I started seeing the old Lynn that I knew before all the heartbreak.
I went into her unusually unlocked trailer but Lynn was nowhere to be found. Then I heard some noises of Lynn conversing with a male in her bedroom. Probably CJ.
I turned on her tv and went to her counter, taking a bag of chips from the pile of other snacks that we stocked earlier this week for our movie night snacks everytime I lounged in her place.
I had no idea what caused me to keep coming back to her trailer, either for naps or just to hang out. Somehow her trailer just felt more homy and warm than mine.
Or maybe I just really liked to tease her and enjoy her company. Or maybe it's the way her trailer smelled so much like her.
Sometimes I wondered to myself if I was developing a crush on Lynn like what Martin said. But then I guessed the fact that we both were just too comfortable with each other made it seem like I did.
I plopped myself on the couch and was munching at the chips on my hand when I heard Lynn's door open. I smiled and turned my head, only to have my breath taken away.
Bloody hell.
Lynn got out of her room looking totally stunning and hot.
She was wearing an elegant, navy cocktail dress that fitted her slim body perfectly. The sleeveless, low cut dress allowed me to see her soft skin more than usual but still in a decent way.
It accentuated the beautiful curves of her petite form, whereas the deep blue color flattered her fair and flawless skin tone.
My eyes traveled back from her silver, strapped high heels, up to her shoulders, where her dark hair cascaded down in a soft, wavy locks, covering some of the bare skin on her shoulders.
My eyes scanned up her neck and face. She obviously had dolled up and some make up did its magic by making her already pretty face more prominent. And those big baby blue eyes...
She gave me that lopsided smile that was meant to show amusement, but somehow my now crossed wired brain registered it as alluring.
That and with the way she looked right now, sent my jaw dropped open. My insides did a flip, and it continued to fluttered inside my stomach.
"Monkey, you gotta stop popping into my trailer like you own it. What if I came out naked?" she asked.
"Then it will be the best day of my life," I muttered, earning a laugh from her before continuing. "You look so hot, luv. It must be a crime to look like that in some states in America or somewhere."
"Yeah. Right," she replied, taking some chips from the bag I held in my hand.
"I'm serious. You look ravishing, Lynn."
Lynn beamed up at me. "Aw, thanks, Orlando."
"What's the occasion?" I asked, still taking in her looks, boring it into my mind.
"I have a date."
The spell she put me under was broken in an instant those words came out of her lips, and I stared at her dumbfounded.
"I took your advice. I moved on from Joel, and this is a good idea to make moving on official."
I knew that she was entitled for her own choices, but for some reason, I was disturbed by this idea of how she tried to move on.
Heck, the word disturbed didn't do it any justice.
"What? I thought you ever said that a date is the last thing you need the last time?" I blurted.
"That was what, two months ago, Orli? I persuaded her eventually to go see a friend of mine," answered CJ for her, getting out of Lynn's room with a makeup box.
"You didn't persuade me, you blackmailed me into this," retorted Lynn to CJ.
"Hey, it's a win win transaction," replied CJ, shrugging.
CJ came to stand beside me and nodding approvingly at Lynn.
"Look at my creation, Orli. Any guy who doesn't look at her twice must be crazy," he told me, a proud grin plastered on his face as he admired Lynn.
"You sure you wanna do this, Lynn?" I asked, trying hard to hide my real emotion from both friends.
"Why wouldn't I?" she said, shrugging. "It's just a date, by the way. Nothing serious."
"Unless, the guy really catch your eye, and let me tell you, sister, the guy is a total hottie!" exclaimed CJ excitedly.
"Don't get your hopes up, Carter."
I listened to their conversation, but my mind was not in it. I fixed my eyes on the TV, despite the fact how much I wanted to glance at Lynn.
My day was ruined in a matter of seconds after learning that Lynn, going on a date with a random guy looking like that!
Fuck!
Unexplainable jealousy hit me in the gut, upon seeing her looking up at me and smiled. If I wasn't sure about how I felt towards her, now I was.
"Orlando, if you still want to hang out here, can you leave the key under the doormat?" she asked.
I pushed down my annoyance and answered her flatly.
"No. I think I'll just head back."
Lynn looked at me intently, and for a split second I was afraid that she saw through me.
"Have fun, luv," I added before planting a chaste kiss on her temple and out of her door in a dash.
"Orli?" called CJ, but I was just too upset to reply, so I decided to pretend that I didn't hear him.
Jealousy and regret filled me as I walked back. The picture of her in that dress flooded my mind the entire night painfully.
She was driving me mad and conflicted.
The saying 'stuck in the friend zone' was never in my book, up until now. I was too bloody slow. Why didn't I realize what I really felt towards her until now?
Damn you, Orlando!
That night I dreamt of Lynn getting back to her trailer and made out with some random man, successfully served me a bad day ahead early in the morning before work.
"No, no, no! Cut!!!" shouted Peter as he threw his hat to the floor.
I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose in frustration. I couldn't bloody focus on any scene since this morning. And this particular scene with Tauriel were especially hard.
"Orlando, this is the ninth take already!" he said exasperated. "We're on a deadline here, mate. In four days we have to move to another set. I know that you capable of more than this, and whatever is bothering your mind right now, I'd like you to settle it right away," Peter ordered tensely before turning to the rest. "Break for 10 minutes!"
I turned away and pursed my lips, finding the disapproval look from my agent and took a seat. I gulped down a bottle of water greedily out of frustration and slouched, looking down at the floor.
A pair of red, feminine shoes came into my view.
"Orli," called my agent, Ruth.
I sighed. "I'm trying, okay? Just... I need a moment," I said through gritted teeth.
Ruth took a seat next to me and rejected a call that was blaring from her phone. I looked up to see her eyes studying me with curiosity.
"Wanna share about it? Is it a girl problem?" she said, using her motherly tone.
"Why do you assume right away that it was about a girl?" I blurted in annoyance. "She has nothing to do with this!"
A victorious smirk played on her face and I cursed inwardly for my slip up.
"Who is this girl that we talk about?"
I stayed silent and prayed that she would leave me alone.
"Is it Lynn?"
My head snapped and I squinted my eyes at her disbelievingly. How did she...
"I can't believe it is true until now," she said with a smile. "Well, from the perspective of an agent, I'm not particularly happy about it because it might affect your publicity greatly."
I rolled my eyes, exasperated. She continued, ignoring my annoyed look.
"But on the perspective of a friend, I think you choose a good one this time. Lynn is charming and transparent, and I like that. I always knew your exes were only after your fame. God knows some of them carried on only their agent's propaganda," she ranted and shrugged. "Especially Kerr."
I sighed and looked at her in annoyance, frowning. Her mouth formed an O and mumbled, "Oh, sorry. I thought you got over her already that I can mention her name in front of you."
"I'm fine, Ruth," I muttered upon seeing the amused look on her face.
"What's bothering you about her?" she asked.
"It's my own business. I don't want to talk about it."
I didn't realize that it came out rather coldly, and soon the facial expression on Ruth turned sour before she moved to stand. I grabbed her hand and stopped her, giving her an apologetic look.
"I'm sorry, Ruth love. I didn't mean it to came out like that," I said, mustering a shy schoolboy look that I knew would melt her anger.
She went back to sit down and folded her hands, waiting for me to speak. I sighed.
"You know me too well, Ruth."
"You bet I am. You're like my other son besides Charlie, of course I can read you like an open book."
I smiled warmly at her before continuing. "I think I might've fall for her, Ruth. And she didn't even know it."
"Then show her."
"It's too late. She went to see some random guy last night."
"Like on a date?"
I nodded.
"It's just a date. Doesn't mean that they become an item right away. You still have time, Orli."
I tilted my head and looked at her intently. That made sense, but then I thought about her again and sighed.
"I don't think she see me as more than a friend."
"That's why you have to show her," she said with a smile.
I let that sink in and slowly my lips upturned into a smile and I gave her a side hug.
"Thanks, Ruth."
"You're welcome," replied Ruth with a wink as if she knew a secret that I didn't know.
"Aww, hate to interrupt this little kodak moment you guys have right now, but Orli, we are needed back on camera," said Luke with a grin.

[Author's Note: Personally I really don't feel satisfied with this particular chapter. I just feel that I didn't portrayed Orlando's feelings well enough and that this chapter is a bit boring?
Please give me a comment about how I can fix this chapter and make it better. Ideas of scenarios will absolutely be welcomed and appreciated! I will try my best to make a better chapter. And again, thank you so much awesome folks for the votes and comments, also for reading this far! x]
