1. Ben The Elf

I can't believe my eyes!

I had my own trailer! How cool was that? I started by chance as a Production Assistant, now I was a Third Assistant Director! Wow! Would wonder ever cease.

Okay, I was actually being lucky. One of my acquaintance informed me that his friend was looking for someone who can work as a Third Assistant Director, and they needed it desperately, since their previous one was 'released from duty' due to some internal problem on set. I, being unemployed, said yes in an instant, got into a telephone interview and hopped on the plane to New Zealand the next day and found myself here.

I thanked the driver, Jack who became my first friend here since I arrived in the set of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug before he left me to my new place for now.

After checking out my new living arrangement, which was awesome by the way, I unpacked my stuff and went to look for my boss, CJ, who happened to be my friend and my previous colleague. I changed into a cream coloured sweater, skinny jeans and sneakers before I made my way out.

I passed through the busy set, and wondered at how big it was. I grew nervous; this project will stretch me out even further than before, which meant more challenges and a lot of work to do. But hey, I loved working.

Damn, I thought I saw Peter Jackson right there, the director for the legendary Lord Of The Rings movies. That guy himself was a legend.

"Oh my my my sweet little bunny Lynn! You made it!" exclaimed CJ from across the room in a loud voice, turning several heads to look at him and then at me.

Heat crept up on my neck in embarrassment and I pretended not to hear him and made my way to another direction.

But knowing the ever chatty, chirpy CJ, I knew running away from him was hopeless.

"Hey! That's rude to ignore me like that!" protested CJ who blocked me and looked down at me with an eyebrow arched. He spread his arms in a theatrical way and lifted his chin, a wide smile on his face. "Where's the hug?" he sang.

"Dude! You're embarrassing me!" I hissed in a low voice, but I hugged him anyway, a smile crept up my face at his weird yet unique behavior that I found rather endearing.

"I missed you too, darling. How was your flight?"

"It's bumpy, the lady beside me was having her first plane ride and she was clutching her seats the whole time and screamed for god to forgive her sins everytime the plane got turbulent," I replied. "I didn't know which was scarier, the turbulence or sitting next to her panicking."

"Eww, that's annoying huh?" replied CJ with a distaste, throwing his pink scarf back in a graceful manner.

CJ was a kind and cheerful man, with an awesome sense of fashion and trends. You would wonder why he won't work in fashion industry instead of filming industry. I asked, his answer was merely 'so my eyes can feast on actors' hot bod when I order people around–oh look, there's a Mark Wahlberg. Isn't he yummy?'

Yep. He was gay, but if I'm a guy and then there's a Mark Wahlberg there I would also consider being gay for him...

CJ or Carter possessed an amazing organizational skills, just like his communication skills, to which how he managed to get the role as Second Assistant Director on a project in the same caliber as The Hobbit.

"I am so sorry, my darling Lynn, but I gotta get back to work. Tonight, you dress up nicely because we're going to go out and have a drink!" he tapped my cheek twice fondly and grinned.

I beamed up at him and replied, "You are going to have a drink. I will be the one to drag you home while you're unconscious just like the other day in Miami."

CJ pointed an index finger at me and replied, "You just got a deal, missy. Now hush, I'll see you around!"

I shook my head and smiled as I watched him waltzed out and screamed something to his walkie talkie. I chuckled to myself.

Someone cleared his throat from behind me and I turned around, only to find an elf looking down at me.

He was tall and lean, still in his elven costume. His skin was fair, but I couldn't be sure if that was real since he was wearing quite a thick makeup. He was sporting a blonde wig that looked soft and realistic. A bright, boyish smile plastered on his perfectly chiseled jaw. He was attractive, just like an actor or an elf should be.

"My lady, please excuse my boldness, but you seem to be a little lost," he said with a fake innocence and concern.

I smirked at him. Gosh, I just loved actors and stunts who stayed in their character off camera. I played along.

"Oh fair master elf. I might be a little lost since I just got off an airplane and probably nursing a little jet lag," I chirped.

The handsome elf then widened his brown eyes at me, breaking his character in a moment.

"Wait, you're the new Third Assistant Director, aren't you?"

I nodded and gave my hand out to shake his hand, saying, "Word travels fast. Yes that's me, nice to meet you."

To my surprise, the elf actor took my hand and kissed my knuckles, smiling in a flirtatious way at me and winked.

My my, so serious. I studied him further as I smiled at him. His appearance, the way he acted his part. This guy could play a certain Mirkwood elf character. Right then I knew that I was gonna have a blast working on this set.

"Very appropriate. Staying in character and all that. You totally can put Orlando Bloom to shame and nail Legolas."

The elf arched his eyebrows in surprise and smirked.

"Why, I am Legolas."

"Right. And I am Lynn Adams. Nice to meet you."

The elf seemed to be in a deep thought for a moment, clearly aware that I knew he was messing with me. Legolas was nowhere in the Hobbit book, duh.

"...Nice meeting you too," he said with his eyes squinted. "You really don't recognize me?"

"Should I?" I blurted, but quickly straightened myself out, "I mean I'm sorry, but you wear way too much make up for me to recognize you. Have we met before this movie?"

He did look familiar. Was he the guy Mike Donnery or Mike Doughnahy that I met several times last year? I can't remember.

I blinked and thought that his eyes were twinkling, but then he smiled warmly at me.

"I'm afraid not. My name is Ben."

"Ben," I repeated. "Nice to meet you."

Well somehow it must be really nice to meet him because I've said 'nice to meet you' to him three times for the past couple minutes.

Ben smiled at me and right at that moment I looked into his eyes, and upon further observation, I was like oh shit.

This guy had a mischievous soul. I knew because I've worked with several projects and met many kinds of people out there. This kind of soul might be fun and amusing sometimes, most of the time people love them, but they kind be aggravating too–especially when you need to get things done.

Ben folded his hands in front of his solid chest and studied me carefully. I lifted up my chin slightly and smiled politely at him.

"So, you mentioned about Legolas before. Have you ever met Mr. Bloom?" asked Ben.

"Nope."

"What do you think of him?"

"He looks better clean shaved. He poisoned the internet with hilarious Legolas memes. Great taste for women though." I said matter of factly with a grin.

Ben's shoulder shook as he suppressed a laughter. I laughed along with him.

"You are a breath of fresh air, mellon nin."

"Hannon le, Ben. So you're playing one of the elves?"

"Yes I am. I'm guessing you haven't read the script yet?"

"No, no I haven't. But I read the book. To be honest I was recruited in a very short time. I had an interview via phone two days ago and once I got in, here I am. I would probably get a chance to see it tomorrow."

Ben nodded and smiled attractively.

"Do you have a boyfriend?"

I chuckled in surprise at this crazy guy who grinned like a mad man in front of me.

"I do," I said chuckling.

Ben cursed to the air and put his hands on his hips, his expression one of a made up frustration.

"Ah, that's really too bad, luv. I really like you. You are like this beautiful, exotic girl with a doe eyes that seemed to be staring right into my soul," he said in a faked regretful sigh, a hand on his heart, and for the first time he let out his normal, English accent out.

"I got a bad feeling that you're gonna cause me a lot of trouble in the future," I predicted with an arch of my brow, shaking my head.

Ben shrugged smugly, confirming my fears and I chuckled in amusement.

"Oh, you will like the troubles I can cause you," he answered lowly.

I stared at him with a slightly opened jaw in disbelief and amusement. Wow, he was a shameless flirt!

A man dressed in hobbit costume walked behind Ben and clapped him on his back.

"This is pretty unusual and unprofessional for you to flirt on the new girl," said he in a thick English accent.

"Martin Freeman? Is that you? You play Bilbo?" I asked in astonishment as I noticed him and his costume. The said man's eyes were lit.

"That will be me, yes," replied Martin, shaking my hands and smiled warmly.

"Lynn Adams, soon to be the replacement for the Third Assistant Director. Nice to meet you. I noticed you from Sherlock Holmes," I ranted excitedly.

Martin was about to open his mouth but Ben cut him.

"Wait, you recognize Martin here, who is taken and married by the way, and not me who is single and available? Aw, you hurt me, luv."

Martin rolled his eyes and shook his head.

"Please don't mind the troublemaker. And let me know if he caused you any trouble at all. He's a pain in the ass sometimes."

"What? Come on man, I'm not that bad."

"Most of the times, actually. I once almost quit my acting career because of him."

"What?"

I laughed lightly at seeing their banter. This crew seemed to be solid enough. Martin turned to me again and waved his hand.

"I'm sorry. He's only curious of who might replace our old Third Assistant Director. And seeing that you managed to make him warm up to you, I bet we're going to get along very good in this movie," said Martin genuinely, though I sensed something between the lines. I looked at him intently.

"You didn't get along with the previous third, I presume?"

"No. He was... What do you call it? A jerk, a son of a bitch," said Martin with an uptight smile, a look that somewhat disturbing to see on his face.

"Look, I don't know what happened with the previous third, but I do hope that I will do better than him in the future. I'll try," I promised, having caught the bitter note on Martin's speech.

"Well, luv, you already are better," Ben said comfortingly. His eyes flickered down to give me a once over before looking me back up to my eyes, "And so much hotter."

I rolled my eyes and Martin squinted his eyes at Ben.

"What happened to you? Did you really just flirt with her on her first day? Did you forget to take your medicine this morning?" Martin asked incredulously. I laughed.

"What? I'm single. I can do whatever I want."

"Well I'm not single. You should flirt with another she elf," I muttered in amusement, snickering at him. I put my hand on my chest and faked drama, "I'm just a mortal."

"But I want you," cooed Ben with an attractive lopsided smile.

Damn.

Martin rolled his eyes. "Real smooth, tiger. Anyway," cut Martin. "Tonight we're going to go to a nearby bar with the others. You're welcome to join if you want. It will be wonderful."

"Oh, damn. That's such a nice invitation. But I'm so sorry. I promised someone already to go out with him tonight. Maybe next time?"

"Ah that's too bad, luv."

"Next time it is then," finished Martin.

I smiled at them and applauded myself for making two more friends today. Martin was a very pleasant and friendly person, while Ben seemed to be a delightful but mischievous one. We three bid our goodbyes and I headed back to my trailer.

I checked my phone and emailed my boyfriend, eager to tell him my first day in New Zealand. I was slightly disappointed upon seeing his email.

Hey, honey. How's your day? I am sorry tonight I can't make that skype date we planned. My boss suddenly needs me to work on site tonight, got some trouble to take care of in the rig. I promise I'll make it up to you.

Love, Joel

I sighed in disappointment, though I replied him saying that I understood. Lately Joel had been so busy at work and we have less and less time together. He didn't even stop me from going to work overseas. I guessed that was how busy he was.

I stretched and plopped myself on my bed, and not long after, I fell asleep. I woke up with CJ banging on my door and minutes after I took a quick shower and applied a bit of a makeup, we head off to a nearby bar.
