Stillwater accompanies Cromwell's team to Somalia as part of a UN convoy. Supposedly to assist in the inoculations of poverty stricken residents of Somalia, Cromwell discovers that Stillwater's actual mission is the destruction of an old French bioweapons plant. In the middle of this operation the Battle for Mogadishu occurs, leaving Cromwell's team and Stillwater without support as the UN Troops, all French and French Foreign Legion, turn on them with the intent of returning the bioweapon data to France.

The Battle for Mogadishu is a backdrop to this story, in which only Peel, Cromwell, and Stillwater survive. The last third of the book is from Cromwell's point of view as she struggles to cope with the outcome. Cromwell is wracked with guilt and considers turning in her commission and leaving the military. During Stillwater's POV he console's his wife. The book ends with Peel stating: "We all loved our Momma."
