(Working Title)

Stillwater is being transferred from the punishment duty in Alaska back to Blackbriar Ridge when his transport goes down, killing everyone aboard. He's somehow alive after being ejected from the wreckage, and seriously concussed, he goes into survival mode.

He meets a small girl in a cave, where she is tied up. The cave is the home of an ancient werewolf who has been there since the 1800's after he arrived in the US from Europe. In a short savage fight he easily, contempously defeats the werewolf. Right before the killing blow is struck, Tauth De Aine arrives to take the werewolf with her, telling Stillwater "Your world is a bit less magical now, little one."

Stillwater then teaches the little girl survival skills, and together they make the 75 miles trip to her house over the course of four months. The child's mother has given the child up for dead and is startled to turn around from checking the mail to find her child standing next to what looks like a wild man, both dressed in furs and carrying spears.

The book ends with Little-Bit and Aine standing in the middle of the road to take him back to Blackbriar.

There is no escape for him.
