Me and Izuku decided to arrive an hour earlier than required. Mirio was glad to take Izuku for some training/warm-ups while I was stuck with...death himself. Sir nighteye and I had a lot of work on our hands. He said it was great that I've mastered long-range attacks, but it would be better if I learned how to fight if it was me alone.

We spent a while learning the different types of martial arts. Since I was quite fast with my hands, he suggested that I learn G.M.A.

Gun metal arts... I should've just joined his agency if I wanted to learn martial arts so badly...

I remember talking to Uraraka about this type of style....

"This sucks! Gunhead is going to bring me to shreds with this stupid technique!" She sighed, this was a few days ago when hero agency internships were first introduced.

"Oh, it can't be that bad. What even is it?" I laughed as she rolled around on the couch.

"Ugh, if I even remember... G.M.A. is designed for close-quarters combat and self-defense, prioritizing grappling, grabbing, and hold techniques. There's more but I can't remember." She scowled. "The objective of this fighting style is to cause the submission of the opponent as soon as possible, using for this purpose several movements to immobilize, neutralize and facilitate their capture."

"Hey, that sounds kinda useful!"

"I'm going to be sore though!"

"Y/N?...hello?" I snapped back to reality. Deku and Mirio were looking down at me, changed into their hero uniforms. I coughed as I recognized the straps on my hero costume... Why did I think this was a good idea?

"Damn, back up a little?!"

"Sorry! It's just that... Mirio was asking you a question." I apologized to Deku and turned my attention towards Mirio.

"I noticed you have nothing covering your appearance..." I tilted my head. What did he mean by that? "I'm saying, villains are easy to remember your face, you don't have anything to fall back on for safety!"

"But a bunch of heroes don't have masks and stuff like that?" I was confused when he passed me the matching green goggles, they looked like the ones you would wear in a lab and such—they looked a lot like nejires.

"Sir gifted these to you. He said they'll help you with accuracy or whatnot! Come one, put them on, and let's head down the street!"

'Sir Nighteye gave me these? Why would he do that...?'

We shrugged our shoulders as I put the goggles on. He wasn't lying, they looked ordinary with the green tint, however, things were flying in my face— well numbers and words.

"Sorry, it's just the three of us for now. Nighteye Agency is currently working on a secret investigation." Mirio said.

'That's right... we're going to meet Eri sooner or later.'

She Hassaikai is a small organized crime syndicate. That's Kai Chisaki. As the young head of the group, he's its second-in-command, and apparently, he's been behaving strangely lately. Causing problems wherever he goes... That plague mask is his trademark. Creepy. I thought...there wasn't much trouble with organized crime these days since the police know who they are and monitor their movements. It's been that way since the big groups broke up. But this Chisaki guy is starting to gather them together again, though we don't know why. The details are unclear, but we do know he made contact with the League of Villains recently. The League of Villains?

Sir nighteye said we didn't really have solid proof linking him to anything criminal yet. Hassaikai operates in a legal gray area that's close to black, but we can't treat them like villains. Our objective is to tail them and find out what they're up to. Be careful not to arouse any suspicion.

And to not arouse any suspicion is... ridiculous.

"Whoa! I'm sorry! You took a tumble there!" Deku stumbled as something crashed into him.

"You complain at me for not paying attention, now look at you!" I crouched down to the little kid. "Hey, are you okay? Did this weirdo scare you? Let me help you up..."

Gray hair... long gray hair. She was trembling, the poor girl.. she had a small horn on her head. With no doubt, this is Eri.

The sight made me sick. She was trembling so hard you would've thought she just escaped an earthquake. Her bandages were slowly coming undone and she looked at us with such eyes... her eyes made me feel guilty ever enjoying myself in this world.

How could I enjoy myself when someone as sweet as her was suffering?

"You should be more careful. We don't wanna cause trouble for the heroes." A voice erupted through the shadows. Out came none other than Chisaki Kai, aka Overhaul. His eyes looked down at us, we had what he wanted... "Let's go home, Eri."

My blood ran cold.

'This cannot be happening, I'm shaking... I don't want to let go of her' I looked back and forth between Eir and Overhaul. Eri was clutching onto one of my and Izukus' arms.

"I hope you'll forgive my daughter, hero's. I don't know what to do with her. Always playing rough, bumping into things." His facial expressions hardened as Eri didn't move. This guy meant serious news... Chisaki from Shie Hassaikai. This is the man Nighteye is after.

"Whoopsie-daisy looks like that darn mask came off again." Lemillion tugged Izukus's hoodie down and my goggles over my eyes. "You two might wanna think about getting it resized, my friends. Maybe we should go shopping after this! I'm so sorry about that. It was our fault, too." Mirio is a professional, he knows how to keep calm in these types of situations...we have to follow in his footsteps! If not, he'll get suspicious, and that could screw up Nighteye's entire case.

"You're right, I'm sorry!" I apologized, quickly finding my voice.

Mirio gave us a thumbs-up while standing behind us. Giving him enough room from Eri but staying close so that Chisaki wouldn't dare to try something. "I know that mask! You must be from Hassaikai, right? You guys are famous around here."

"Yeah, please don't mind the mask. It keeps out the filth. I don't believe I've seen you two in the area before. Right! Well, we're still pretty new, but you probably already guessed that much. Now, on your feet, partner. Can't do much hero-ing from down there." He was addressing us, hoping that we might slip up and reveal any type of information. "So, what agency do you belong to?"

"We're only students! Far too lowly to be claiming association with an agency. We're just using our internships to get some experience. Speaking of which, we need to finish patrolling this division by lunch. Come on, let's go. Right!"

"Please. Please don't go." A small voice pleaded. We snapped down to the small girl who clenched

"Um, excuse me. I'm sorry, but your daughter seems scared." Deku told Chisaki he had a tighter grip on her.

"A reaction to being scolded."

"Sure!" Miro lightly tapped on our backs, indicating he wanted us to let go.

"Wait, but..." Deku paused, "This girl. She's grabbed me and won't let go. She's got bandages all over. Those are just from 'playing rough'?"

"Eri's an exceptionally clumsy girl."

"Her whole body's shaking, but she's not making a sound. Does that seem like it's normal to you?"

"Izuku..." I called out to him. Bro, he is actually throwing this mission.

"It's dangerous to make assumptions about what's normal for other people. Yeah, everybody's different, am I right?"

He paused, he's not going to let this go I'm afraid. "...we're heroes. Tell me. What are you doing to this girl?"

"You heroes pick up on the subtlest things, don't you? Very well. This situation is embarrassing. So I'd prefer to discuss it where we won't be overheard." Overhaul tried to usher us to an alleyway. "Hard to admit that you can't control your own child, but lately Eri defies me no matter what I try."

"What do you try?"

"Parenting, man. Sounds rough! That can't be easy, we should give the man a break!" I laughed a little.

Chisaki squinted his eyes at me, "Yes, children are tricky. So determined to do whatever they want... that sometimes they just don't listen." He looked down at Eri, giving her a message. He reached out a hand before she jumped up herself and ran back to his side. "Oh, good. Done with your temper tantrum?"

"Uh. Eri, are you sure?" Izuku asked, slowly standing.

"She's always like this. Sorry to involve you in our family drama. I'm sure you have better things to be doing. Good luck with your internships." He quickly scurried the small girl back down the hallway.

She looked back and I waved goodbye at her... god this breaks my heart.

We stood on either side of Mirio as he had his phone on speaker. On the other line was Sir Nighteye—who tried to hide the fact that he was very very angry with us.

We didn't leave any information out about what we just learned—I mean who would've guessed that we would've run into our target—-if I'm being honest, my memory is getting foggier each day. I was able to replay what happened in this show episode for episode...now I no longer remember much—

"Oh, I forgot. Sir." Mirio snapped my head back to the conversation. "We got lucky--at least a little. Our brief encounter yielded some new intel. Chisaki, he has a daughter."

"A daughter?" Nighteye asked.

"A little girl who he called 'Eri.' Her limbs were all wrapped in bandages. I don't know anything else about her, but she was asking for help. There must be something we can do to protect her."

"I won't let your arrogance interfere with this case." He quickly shut that down.

"But, Sir...we have to do something," I said.

Sir Nighteye slammed his hand on the table, we heard the slam echo through the speaker. "Listen. Haste won't help the situation. Take your time pursuing a target. If you rush, they are that much more likely to escape. You're not so special that you can save whoever you want whenever you want. We've asked other agencies to team up with us. We must first predict our opponent's moves and then make preparations to face him. Good intentions alone aren't enough to save the world. The wisest villains hide in the shadows. To find them, we must watch and wait. The three of you should head back into the office for today."

And so, the first day of my work-study ended, leaving me with a sick feeling in my stomach. I could only imagine what Eri is feeling now. If this man had this much effect on me for just a meer meeting...I couldn't imagine ever being trapped in a small room with him.
