Chapter 64
{Never worn white by Katy Perry.} Song plays in the background.....
Mia batted her lashes, her brain was still trying to process what she had seen.
"I know it's just about three months we started seeing each other," Ryan started talking and Mia turned to him. "I know you think it's too soon, I also know we're still recovering from what happened before, still building our trust in each other. I understand. I don't want it to seem like I'm rushing into things when you aren't ready..." He waited for her to react but she didn't, she just kept staring at him. "Mia I love you, I love you more than anything in this world, I would give up everything— Mi-tech, my wealth, even my life just to make you happy, just to put a genuine smile on your face. All I have achieved so far was because of your memories, I never wanted to disappoint you, I tried my best to be happy when you weren't with me. I'm not perfect but I'll try to be a better person. I want you to be by my side, the one I'll spend my forever with, the mother of my kids.... Sophie Bibianna Karavagh, I want you to be my wife." He went on one knee, opening up the small box in his hand. "Make me the happiest man, marry me universe." He said softly.
Mia buried her face in her palm, trying to stop the tears from spilling. She looked down at the love of her life, proposing to her in the most romantic way ever!!
"You want me to marry you?" She wiped her eye, sniffling. "I'm not perfect, I'm not a super model, I hit you the first time we met, I even said I hated you!" She said in-between her tears.
Ryan chuckled... "I don't care about any of that universe."
"This isn't the pretense game right?" Mia asked him.
Ryan laughed... "This time it's for real. So... What do you say?" He grinned.
"Yes." She nodded.
"Yes?" He asked for confirmation, standing up.
"Yes! Yes yes yes! I'll marry you!" Mia said, throwing her arms around him.
Ryan twirled her around. "Thank you!"
"I love you so so so so so much!" Mia said pulling him for a kiss.
"I love you my princess." He rained kisses on her face, making her giggled. "Wait wait, the ring."
Mia pulled away, giving her hand to Ryan. Ryan took her delicate hand, slipping in the center diamond infinity twist micropavé diamond engagement ring in white gold, down her finger.
"Baby this is so beautiful." Mia brought her hand to her face, staring at the finger where the ring sat.
"Just like you." He said. "Hold on." Ryan pulled out his phone and texted.
"Who are you texting?" Mia asked.
"You'll see." He pulled her to the railings. "One, two..." That's when fireworks exploded in the sky colorfully.
Mia gasped. "Wow!" She exclaimed.
He stood behind her, wrapping his arms around her and resting his chin on her shoulder. "I did it for you, do you like it?"
"I love it." Mia smiled. "Was this part of the proposal surprise?" She asked, watching the fireworks go off.
"Yep." He said grinning.
"What if, what if I said no, would you still do it?" Mia asked with a smile.
"Of course I would, only I'd be heartbroken. But I knew in my heart that you'd accept to marry me." Ryan told her.
Mia chuckled... "I can't believe I'm getting married. I'm gonna plan my own wedding, yay!"
"You can take all the time you need for the preparations but don't stress yourself. Once I see you're over doing it, I'd stop you. I don't want anything to happen to you or the baby." He warned her.
"I won't." Mia nodded.
"Now, we're finally going to start a family. Our family." He said, placing a soft kiss on her cheek before looking up at the fireworks.
Mia's smile suddenly died. Guilt was consuming her for what she did before. It wasn't her fault. She couldn't bear to tell Ryan the truth. It was her turn to keep the truth away from him.
..................................................................
"Following his breakup with super model Layla Sorrento, it came as surprise that business mogul billionaire Ryan Webster started dating the heiress to the A.G shipping company Mia Simpsons. The two have been having a hot head turning romance which have been going on for almost three months and now, two days ago, Mia was spotted with her billionaire boyfriend entering a restaurant while flashing her cute diamond ring on her left ring finger. Could this mean anything? Rumors say the couple are expecting a baby but neither Ryan nor Mia has denied or confirmed anything. On Sunday, the popular race car driver Alex Midwest a close family friend of the couple, when asked about kids, told Ellen DeGeneres that —in quote... "Natalie and I aren't ready to have kids yet, but since I'm gonna be an uncle pretty soon, I'm more than excited." What did Alex mean? Anyways, we wish Ryan and Mia more years ahead...." The presenter said before moving to another topic.
Mia scrolled past the video, tapping on her phone.
"Madame, we're here." The driver called her attention.
Mia glanced around as the car came to a stop. She was at Mi-tech. "Thank you John." Mia said, trying to arrange her hair while her driver walked out of the car to open the door for her.
Mia stepped out of the car in her red lace up heels and a sleeved bodycon sweetheart neckline black dress. She strutted into the building, receiving greetings from every staff and employees, Mia responded politely while heading to Ryan's office.
"Good afternoon Olivia." Mia greeted Olivia.
"Good afternoon Miss Simpsons." Olivia stood up to welcome Mia.
"Olivia, there's no need for the formalities. I've told you, it's Mia. We're friends." Mia told her.
"You're not just anyone, you're Mr Webster's fiancée. Plus this is the office, formality is what makes it different." Olivia told her. Olivia had gotten used to seeing Mia in the office, and each time she was around, Ryan instructed no intrusion.
Mia chuckled... "If you say so. Is Ryan —"
"Yes, he is. He'd just finished a meeting." Olivia smiled at her.
"Thank you." Mia smiled back, heading towards Ryan's office.
Mia opened the door and entered the office.
"Good afternoon." She greeted, finding him furiously signing on some documents.
"Didn't my secretary tell you I'm busy?" Ryan hadn't noticed she was the one who had entered.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Do you want me to come back later?" She asked.
"Of cour—" He looked up and his face fell. "Baby, you're here." He massaged his temples. "God, I'm so sorry, I thought you were from the sales department."
Mia smiled at him. "It's okay."
"Come please." He beckoned on her.
"Seems like you're very busy... Tensed too." Mia said, walking up to him. "You didn't even recognize my voice."
"Forgive me. I'm having this important project. You know we're now trying to export our products to several countries in Africa, it takes time." He told her, pulling her unto his lap. "How are you my baby?" He asked kissing her knuckles.
"Fine." Mia smiled.
"And our baby?" He beamed a smile at her.
"Very fine." She replied.
"Now that you're here, I'll rush things up so I could take you out to lunch. Pick wherever you want." He said to her.
"I could always wait, just finish what you have to do. I'm always going to be here." She kissed his lips. "If it's important then finish up."
"I'm not having you wait. You're my princess, princesses don't wait." He poked her nose, giving her a light kiss. "Oh!" He remembered something. "Rufus told me you hired a private investigator, can I ask what it's for?" He asked.
Mia's heart skipped. "Yes, I-I-I did. I'm looking for someone because I have no idea where to start my search. I'm sorry I didn't tell you."
"No, it's fine." He assured her with a smile. "If the person is so important for you to find, I know the best tracker. He could help you." Ryan offered to help.
No questions asked, he trusted her completely. She really had to tell him. "It's okay. I'll find the person, thanks for the offer anyway." She managed to smile.

Ryan wrapped Mia in his arms as they laid under the sheets naked. Mia rested her head on his chest, drawing circles on his tattoo while zoning out.
"Is there something I'm doing wrong?" Ryan asked her.
"What?" Mia snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Ryan.
"Or are you having cold feet... About us getting married?" He asked quietly.
"What?!" Mia sat up, pulling the sheets to her chest and facing him. "What makes you think that?" She frowned at him.
Ryan sighed, sitting up. "You've been spacing out a lot these days, even now we made love, I could feel that your mind wasn't here. I feel like there's something I'm not getting right, maybe it's me." He was being totally honest with her.
"Baby I'm sorry I'm making you feel that way. It was never my intention. I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm sorry..." Mia apologized sincerely.
"No no, stop. That's enough. Baby I'm not angry." He cupped her chin. "I can never be mad at you my love." He said to her. He smiled, trying to assure her that he wasn't angry. "Come here." He opened his arms for her. Mia moved closer, burying herself in his embrace.
"I love you." She said to him.
"I love you more." He kissed the top of her head. "When you're ready, tell me what's going on, okay?" He said to her and she nodded. He wasn't forcing her to say anything but he only wanted her to trust him with her thoughts. "Go to sleep." He told her while securing his strong arms around her. She closed her eyes, preparing to drift off to sleep.
✴✴✴✴✴✴
Mia heard the doorbell as she laid on the couch. She slowly stood up to open the door, she turned on the security screen to see who was behind the door. It was no other than her mom.
Why was her mom here? And how did she get past security?
Mia had avoided her mom in a long time, she wasn't ready to face her mom after everything her mom did to her.
Mia took in a deep breath before opening the door.
"Are you going to invite me in or we are just going to keep staring at ourselves?" Karen smiled at her.
"Mom, what are you doing here?" Mia asked.
"Why? I haven't seen my daughter in weeks." Karen said to her.
Mia allowed Karen enter. Maybe they needed to talk after all.
"So, how are you?" Karen asked Mia as she took her seat on an armchair.
"Don't get too comfortable." Mia frowned slightly at Karen.
"Is Ryan here too?" Karen crossed her legs.
"He is. Mamà why are you really here?" Mia asked her mom.
Karen stood up. "I want us to talk." Karen sighed... "What name do you go by now, is it Mia or Sophie?"
"Sophie's my real name, is it not? But people around me don't know what's going on, so I still go by Mia." Mia touched her forehead. "I don't know what you want to gain by coming here but—"
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I lied, I'm sorry I deceived you, I'm sorry for hurting you." Karen apologized. "I know I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me." Karen said. She seemed sincere.
Mia stared at her mom...
"My baby I'm sorry, I was only thinking about you, how to protect you." Her eyes gathered tears. "My dear," she walked over to Mia, holding her hands. "Your mother saw that as the only way to protect you. I would never hurt you on purpose because I love you sweetheart, I'm sorry. I can't be at ease knowing you're mad at me. I'd do anything to earn your forgiveness. I'd go on my knees if I have to, just please forgive me." Karen begged, shedding tears. She hugged Mia.
Mia really wanted to forgive her mom just as she had forgiven Ryan. All she wanted was to forget everything and move on.
"That's enough." She patted Karen's back. "Mom, I'm going to forgive you because I love you and I still want you to be part of my life." Mia said to her.
Karen pulled away... "I'm so sorry. I'd do anything to make it up to you please." Karen smiled amidst her tears.
"Mom, first you have to forgive and accept Ryan." Mia waited for a reaction but there was none. "I love Ryan and I can't live without him, I hope you understand. If you really want to make up for everything, you would want me to be happy." Mia told her mom.
Karen sighed.... "Are you really happy with him? Does he treat you right?"
"He does." Mia nodded.
"I don't want him to hurt you again." Karen said to her sadly.
"He won't."
Karen nodded... "You really do love him don't you?" Mia smiled at her. "Does he have any plan for your future, that's the most important thing. I want you to settle down if this is what you truly want." Karen told her.
"You don't need to worry," Mia raised her hand, showing Karen her ring. "Ryan and I are getting married." Mia smiled.
Karen's eyes widened... "You are?"
"Mhmm." Mia nodded.
"Oh honey." Karen hugged her. "I'm so proud of you!"
"Thank you mamà." Mia hugged her back. Mia pulled away. "There's another thing, Ryan and I are starting a family. Mamà... We're having a baby."
Karen batted her lashes... "You're... You're pregnant?" Karen asked to be sure and Mia nodded. "But it's too soon, you're not ready to become a mother." Karen frowned slightly. "Is this the reason he's marrying you?"
"No, of course not. The baby has nothing to do with our marriage, Ryan and I are getting married because we want to." Mia told her mom.
"Are you sure?"
"I want to spend my forever with Ryan and no one else."
"Okay." Karen nodded, she was satisfied. "Mia, there's one more thing I'd like to ask you. I'd like to think you've told Ryan the truth?"
"What truth?" She frowned...
"About your daughter?" Karen said to him.
Mia shook her head, as she was about to talk, she heard Ryan's voice.
"What daughter?" Ryan asked, walking in.
"Oh Ryan, I didn't see you." Karen smiled at him.
Ryan turned to Mia... "Universe, what daughter is she talking about?" He questioned curiously.
Mia froze, tongue tied.
"You didn't tell him?" Karen frowned slightly. "You didn't tell him you had a daughter with—"
"Mom." Mia cut her off. "That's enough." She was shaking inside.
"Universe..." Ryan frowned at her. Something was definitely up.
"Maybe... Maybe I should take my leave now." Karen noticed the tension. Karen said, walking out of the house. Immediately the door shut close, the tension increased.
"What did your mom mean by that? Is there something you want to tell me?" He asked as calm as possible.
"Ryan I was gonna tell you." Mia bit her lip.
"Tell me what?" He raised his brow curiously.
"Can we sit?" Mia's eyes pleaded.
Her anxious state was inevitable to notice as she kept on biting her nails. He didn't want her to feeling nervous around him so he waited for her to calm down before he sat.
"Mia you trust me right?" He asked her.
Mia looked at him. "I do. Ryan I didn't want there to be secrets between us, but I couldn't bring myself to tell you everything. I'm sorry."
Ryan sighed... "What is it?"
"Before I tell you," Mia knelt down in front of him, taking his hands in hers. "Please don't judge me."
"What's going on?" He asked her again.
Mia took in a deep breath, closing her eyes. "Ryan... You should know something." Mia swallowed nervously. "Seven years ago, our baby, our baby didn't die in the accident." Mia finally confessed to him.
Ryan frowned... "What do you mean?"
"She... She... She didn't die. Our baby survived. We had a baby girl." Mia blinked away the tears.
Ryan leaned back in surprise. "What?" He pulled his hands away from Mia's, staring at her with a confused face.
"I'm sorry." Tears trickled down her eyes.
"Wha-what? What happened to her?" Ryan frowned down at Mia.
"It was all my fault. I'm sorry. Mom told me it was the only way to get my life back together. Forgive me, Ryan forgive." Mia cried.
"Mia... What did you do?" Ryan stared at her intensely. Mia shook her head slowly without saying anything. "Mia tell me, what did you do?" He raised his voice.
She bowed her head... "I gave her up, I gave her up for adoption. Ryan I'm sorry. Please forgive me." Her face fell onto his lap as she sobbed.
