07. FOUND YOU

"sibling rivalry leads to the bitterest competition"

The drive back to the hospital was swift, and soon enough we were scoping out the area for the doctor from earlier.

I hummed lowly as Five looked out the window and searched the busy streets. He fidgeted with the prosthetic eye and sighed. His jaw clenched and he seemed to be lost in his thoughts as he watched outside of the window. I followed his eyesight to a group of boys, around my age, kicking a can down the sidewalk.

"No." Five shook his head and fear consumed his face. His breathing quickened.

"Five? Are you okay?" I asked nervously.

Tap. Tap.

"Hey!"

Five and I snapped our heads toward the window. There was an extremely muscular man knocking at the door. He walked to the back and opened the door. The man struggled to get himself inside of the vehicle, which was clearly too small for him.

Panting slightly he looked up at Five from the backseat, "You okay?"

I chuckled, "Are you okay?"

His face turned red a little from his embarrassing entrance.

"Sorry. I'm Alexa." I stuck my hand out.

He took it and nodded, "Luther," he greeted.

Five spoke up. "You shouldn't be... How did you find me?"

Luther nodded his head to the back and we all turned around. Klaus sat cross-legged and waved cheerfully. Five picked up an item from inside of the truck and threw it at him aggressively.

He shouted, "Get out! You can't be here!" Five took a breath and calmed down a little. "I'm in the middle of something."

Klaus crawled closer to the front of the car. "Busy with Alexa?" He winked at Five and me. I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, and tried to hide my blushing. Five quickly looked away too.

Awkward silence filled the air, so Klaus changed the topic. "Any luck finding your one-eyed man?"

Five whispered to him, "No."

Confused, Luther questioned him. "What's he talkin about?"

"Does it matter? It's Klaus." Five rolled his eyes and sighed. "What do you want, Luther?"

"Um.. So Grace may have had something to do with Dad's death. I need you to come back to the Academy, all right? It's important."

I felt slightly uncomfortable hearing about their family issues, only because it was none of my business.

Five gazed out of the window. "It's important," he repeated. "You have no concept of what's important."

"Hey!" Klaus interrupted. "Did I ever tell you guys about the time I waxed my ass with chocolate pudding?" He laughed loudly, "It was so painful!"

I concealed my laughter, it didn't seem like the right time.

"What are you still doing here?" Luther asked Klaus.

"Ay, ay, ay," Five said lowly, rolling his head back.

"What?" Klaus gasped. "I need an excuse to hangout with my family?"

"We're trying to have a serious conversation," Luther stated matter-of-factly.

Klaus pretended to be offended. He placed his hands on his chest. "What, and I'm incapable of being serious? Is that what you're saying?"

Five responded, "Luther's got a point, you should get out."

"What?!"

He huffed on his way out of the car, "Fine! Bye Alexa and others." The car door slammed.

"She should go too." Luther stated, pointing to me.

"Why do I have to leave?" I asked shocked.

Five faced me, "You don't," he turned to Luther, "She can stay."

Luther sighed and nodded. He took a moment to gather his thoughts, "What the hell are you up to?"

"Believe me. You wouldn't understand," Five retorted.

"Try me," he dared. "Last time I checked, I'm still the leader of this family."

"Well, last I checked, I'm twenty-eight years older than you." Five shot back.

"You know what your problem is?"

"Really hoping you'll tell me," Five smirked.

Luther looked away, "You think you're better than us." He turned back and locked eyes with Five. "You always have. Even when we were kids."

The tension within the air grew as the two superiors butted heads. I leaned back in my seat and remained silent, while the two siblings continued to argue.

"But the truth is, you're just as messed up as the rest of us. We're all you have."
Luther shook his head arrogantly, "And you know it."

Five didn't hesitate before responding. "I don't think I'm better than you, Number One. I know I am."

Luther scoffed.

"I've done unimaginable things, things you couldn't even comprehend." Five announced.

"Right," Luther replied sarcastically.

Five lowered his voice, "Just to get back here and save you all."

Five was right, whether Luther realized it or not. He risked everything just to get back to his family, and he's risking everything right now just to stop the apocalypse! Luther should cut him some slack.

"Hey, bitches!" Out of nowhere, Klaus was seen sprinting down the street. Various snacks fell out of his hands as a cop chased him and blew his whistle.

The cop yelled after him, "You! Get back here!"

An approaching car slammed on its breaks and just missed Klaus.

"Out of the way, asshole!"

All three of us watched Klaus dash down the street.

"Now I'm starting to wonder if that was the wisest decision." Five stated sharply.

Nightfall had taken over, and I slowly drifted off into a light slumber. Visions of old memories danced along the back of my eyelids.

My head bounced off of the mat, and anger began to boil inside of me.

"Again."

I stood up once more. My body ached and screamed at me to give up, but I wouldn't. I pulled my hands into fists and prepared myself.

My opponent swung his fist towards my face. I quickly ducked, and dodged it. He attempted to kick my feet up from under me, but I jumped back. I used an offensive move, kneeing him in the chest and then grabbing his arms to flip him onto the ground. His body fell to the floor with a thump.

"Sloppy.. but better."

I placed my hands on my hips in an attempt to catch my breath. Training seemed to become more intense lately, which only increased my soreness and fatigue.

Rumors had been floating around the vicinity regarding our first mission. No one knew exactly what we were going to be tasked, but apparently it was important. Only a select few are chosen to go on the mission though. I was curious to find out if I would be chosen, but there were so many—

My eyes snapped open and my dream was cut short. Five, who was continuously tapping my shoulder, urged me to wake up.

"What's going on?" I yawned.

"There's our guy," he pointed.

I looked out the window and saw Doctor Lance. Five and I turned to each other and nodded. He grabbed my hand and teleported us into the back of his car.
