05. MASKED MADNESS
"a little party never killed nobody"

Lance shuffled through manila files quickly, and glanced at all three of us nervously every once in a while.
"Oh.. that's strange."
"What?" Five questioned eagerly.
"The eye. It hasn't been purchased by a client yet." The doctor spoke as Klaus walked closer to him to look for himself.
"What? What do you mean?" Klaus asked.
"Well, our logs say that the eye with that serial number..." He trailed off. "This can't be right. It hasn't even been manufactured yet." The doctored questioned Five suspiciously. "Where did you even get that eye?"

Klaus, Five, and I walked out of the hospital without any clue as to who the eye belonged to, or who it would belong to.
"Well, this is not good." Five sighed.
Klaus laughed, "I was pretty good though, right?! 'Yeah, what about my consent bitch!' "
"Klaus, it doesn't matter." Five replied.
I shoved my hands in my pockets. "Ya know, you could've gave a warning before punching us." I rolled my eyes. His big plan was pointless now.
"Whatever. What's the big deal with this eye, anyway?" Klaus defended.
Five stepped forward. "There is someone out there who is going to lose an eye in the next seven days. They're gonna bring about the end of life on this Earth as we know it." He exclaimed.
Klaus thought out loud, "Yeah.. so can I get that twenty bucks, like now, or what?"
"Your twenty bucks?"
"Yeah, my twenty bucks."
I elbowed Klaus and whispered, "Wrong move."
"The apocalypse is coming and all you can think about is getting high?" Five accused.
I sat down on hospital's steps, checking myself out of the conversation. This seemed like one of their problems now.
Klaus placed his hands on his stomach. "Well, I'm also quite hungry. Tummy's a-rumbling." He groaned and then giggled.
"You're useless." Five stated, "You're all useless!"
"Hey! What did I do?" I spoke from the steps.
"Oh come on! You need to lighten up, old man." Klaus scolded Five.
Five strolled over to the concrete steps and sat down next to me. He sighed as Klaus continued talking.
"Hey, you know, I've just realized why you're so uptight. You must be horny as hell!" He exclaimed while laughing.
Klaus sat next to Five. "All those years by yourself. It's gotta screw with your head, being alone and all."
"Well.. I wasn't alone." Five spoke.
Klaus quizzed, "Oh? Pray tell."
"Her name was Delores," Five answered.
I turned to look at him as he looked straight ahead at nothing in particular. "I thought you were the last person alive?"
"I was." Five paused. "We were together for over thirty years."
"Thirty years? Oh, wow!" Klaus chuckled.
I was confused, and also sad for some reason. I looked down at my shoes, noticing blood on them.
Klaus spoke happily, "God, the longest I've been with someone was.. I don't know, three weeks? That's only because I was so tired of looking for a place to sleep."
Five placed a hand on my shoulder, and everything went black for a split second before we appeared in the back of a taxi.
"Don't stop. Just keep going." Five said to the taxi driver, who was clearly startled by our sudden appearance.
I put my hands across my stomach, "I don't think I liked that very much."
Five chuckled, "Sorry."
He leaned out of the window slightly and waved to Klaus as the taxi passed him and continued driving away.

It was dark, and it was raining. Five and I stood outside of some random shop. I placed my hand on his arm, and we both walked through the glass door. The store had a blue glow because of the neon lights from outside. I looked around and then turned to Five.
"Remind me again, why are we here?"
"Just need to check something.. you look around." He replied mysteriously.
"Okay then.." I stated as I started wandering off.
I walked through multiple aisles, grabbing various items as I went. I spotted a light blue zip-up hoodie and traded it for the grey one I was wearing. I also grabbed a new pair of black sneakers because the ones I was currently wearing were stained with blood.
I wondered if this counted as shopping. Probably not, more like stealing. Back at the Order, the closest thing to shopping was picking out a new uniform every year. Maybe when the apocalypse is over I can go shopping for the first time. I smiled at the thought.
Without warning, Five shouted, "No!" And gunshots fired throughout the store.
I quickly ducked and started scrambling through clothing racks to find Five. "Five?!"
As I was phasing through a rack, I ran into Five and we fell on the ground. He helped me up and spoke to himself, "Oh, shit it's them!"
"Who are they?" I shouted over the shots.
Five grabbed my hand and we disappeared to the other side of the store.
"I'll be right back for you!" He yelled.
"Five where are you—" I was cut off when he jumped somewhere else.
Whoever was shooting at us was getting closer because I could hear their conversation.
The woman in the dog mask hollered at the man in the bear mask, "You see that?" She pulled the trigger and shot at Five, but missed.
"You said he was special. So now what?" The man exclaimed.
"You start over there, I'll go to the other end. Meet in the middle. Shoot anything that moves."
The two masked shooters pointed their guns in various directions as they searched for Five.
He teleported next to me and handed me a gardening tool, "Here. Use this!" He whisper shouted.
As he vanished to attack the dog mask lady, I ran through clothing racks to get the bear mask man.
I sliced his stomach with the sharp tool, and he cried out in pain. "Hey! You're the girl commission was warning us about!"
The man fumbled with his gun as I sliced him across the arm this time. "Who the hell are you?" I shouted.
Five appeared next to me and grabbed my hand before he could answer. We jumped a few aisles over in an attempt to find safety. It wasn't long until the masked villains spotted us running towards the exit and began firing shots.
Five struggled to teleport us away, but eventually succeeded. I looked over my shoulder and gasped, "They're right behind us!"
Five tried to jump, but it seemed like his powers were running low on energy. Instead, I grabbed his hand and pulled him along as we sprinted through clothing racks and other objects.
"Got her!" The lady yelled and aimed her gun at me.
Right before I was about to phase Five and I through an item rack, she shot me in the leg. I screamed and almost fell over, but Five caught me.
"Lexa!"
He grunted as he dragged me over the rack. We hid behind a cashier desk as police sirens wailed from outside.
"The bastard jumped again." The man stated disappointedly.
"Come on, let's go."
The masked shooters' footsteps faded off into the distance. I turned my head slowly to face Five and he did the same. As my leg was gushing blood and he was gasping for air, we held onto each other's hands tighter than before.
