Chapter 28- Consolidate
Repost of chapter last night in case people didn't see it.
************
The sun was just starting to set behind the trees and the witches were going to be showing up soon. We'd been told to meet at the house that would act as the central anchor point for the pack. My parents were here as well as Allison and Jason.
Both packs new what was going to happen, we'd given each of them an extensive rundown of what would go on. Zachary had said life could go on as normal within the packs, everything would just move to it's new location.
The witches arrived in their typical fashion, opting to stay away from automotive advancements. Instead they materialized in what would soon be the front yard of the house.
Zachary was standing with three women and one man. He stepped forward and shook my hand.
"I'd like to introduce you all to four members of the coven I am part of." He turned toward the others and pointed as he said their names, introducing first them, and then us.
I still wasn't sure how I felt about using witches, especially when there were five of them standing in front of what would soon be my home.
"Shall we get to work?" Zachary asked with a showful clap of his hands.
The other witches nodded and the five of them got to work. Allison and I stood side by side watching them.
"What are they doing?" She asked quietly.
"I'm not entirely sure," I murmured. They were walking around, talking quietly and gathering up different things in bottles and jars.
"This is going to be the front yard and how big are you wanting it to be?" Zachary asked looking over to me.
I went over and started walking a paimeter for the yard space that I wanted. Zachary nodded and took the size into account to base it off the mapping I'd given him of what I wanted. He went back to the other witches and they kept working.
It slowly got darker, the sun barely visible anymore. The first stars would soon be coming up. Even now when I looked up I could see the moon, the very thing the witches drew on for their spells and rituals.
In that way we were the same. Both of our energies came from the moon. It was just hard to understand how someone could bend and manipulate the world around us. I wasn't going to question it as long as it helped us though.
Between the five they were pouring liquids and mixing powders.
When the moon was shining bright they turned back toward us.
"We're ready if you are," Zachary said.
"We're ready." We made sure we were all standing inside what would be the limits of the front yard.
The witches started a chant in another language, one that none of us could understand. I could feel the power as they chanted. It was like something physical rippling through the air. I could tell Allison had felt it too, she'd let out a small gasp.
I felt a shimmer ripple through the ground and the sound behind me said that the others felt it as well. It was like a small scale earthquake.
Soon the area around us started changing. The place started forming around us in chunks, the woods and forest around us disappearing first, soon being replaced by homes.
It was ten minutes before the tremors settled down and people started to come outside. I looked around with wide eyes. I couldn't believe it had actually worked. It had worked perfectly. At least it looked like it had.
My father seemed to think the same thing. He was talking animatedly with Zachary appraising the job they'd just done.
I walked up to the small group.
"How does it look, Alpha Trenton?" Zachary asked.
It took me a moment he was addressing me.
"Oh, it looks great. Just like I imagined. You all did an extremely wonderful job."
Allison moved to my side and Zachary gave her a smile. He then reached out his hand shaking first mine and then hers. Unexpectedly, the witch next to Zachary jumped in to shake our hands as well.
We made our way across the small area to the new square where everyone was starting to gather per their instructions.
The ceremony would take place under the light of the moon with the blessing of the Moon Goddess, my father would pass the pack down to me.
My father gave a speech, directing it at the pack he'd been charged with running for the past twenty-nine years. It was the same speech every Alpha before him has given. One regarding the legacy of the Alpha's that came before and the Alpha's that will come after, starting this night.
He spoke about running the pack in a way that's best for those within. As Alpha we are the protector, we keep our people safe.
With my father's final words that officially handed over the pack to me, and with the blood ritual complete, I felt the exchange of power. It was like a weight that rested inside of me. The weight of the pack that now rested on me, my people that I was set to protect, to keep safe and serve in any way I could.
Soon it was my turn to talk and I wasn't really sure what to say. I looked over to see Allison looking at me with a smile.
You can do this. Her words of encouragement whispered through my mind.
"I know half of you well, the other half, I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you." As I looked out I could see that the packs were still segregated for the most part. There was very little mingling between.
"I know this will be an adjustment, but it's one I have faith we can make seemless. We are bonded by one thing. We are all children of the moon, brought together by the one thing we share. I feel each of you within me and I vow on this day to protect each and every one of you in any way I can."
My eyes locked with Allison's as I spoke. I had been willing to give my life to save her, and I would do no less for those people who would have their faith in me. I would do anything within my power not to betray their trust.
Howls errupted into the night with the celebration of the pack I grew up in followed soon after by the new pack, the first pack I had been an Alpha to. They hadn't known me and yet the accepted me in as their ruler. My story of O'Brian and the scene with Hazel had been enough to prove myself with them.
Celebrations started with music. I got down from the stage talking Zachary one more time. He assured me that everything was set. Everything would be altered to show one town instead of the two separated by woods. I thanked him and then began my way through the crowd.
Members of both packs came up to me to give their congratulations. Many of the new pack used the time to introduce themselves to me. I determined that I would want to go around and meet those from the pack, visit the businesses and families. That would be on my list of to-do's for the first week.
I could tell after a while that Allison was getting tense with all the people around. She'd never been one for large crowds and now she was in the middle of the biggest crowd we've ever had.
"Do you want to go home? Our first night in our house together as Alpha and Luna with our pack around us."
She looked relieved at the option to leave. I knew that over time she would become more comfortable with her position.
I put an arm around her shoulder and pulled her away, letting the celebration continue on. I was glad that everyone seemed to be getting along well. Hopefully this night would be good for forming connections between the two packs and bring us together as one.
Allison sighed when we walked through the front door of the house and I smiled down at her.
"My introverted mate," I said teasingly.
"I'm not an introvert. I just don't like being in huge crowds like that."
"That's sort of what introverted means. Among other things. Besides, when I saw you on your birthday you were in a bar. One that was pretty full at that."
I remembered the way she'd looked that night in the short dress. It hadn't been her at all, no doubt Cassandra had picked it out for her. It had seemed much more her style. Allison blushed slightly at my words.
"Why do you think I was loading down on alcohol? The more I drink the less I care about the crowd and people around."
"And here I thought you were drinking because of me." I sounded slightly wounded but I smiled at her leading her up the stairs.
"I said so that I care less about the people around me too. You were around. Though you weren't around for long. And then you showed up again. You were a stalker there for a while come to think of it," she said with a finger on her chin.
It felt so weird to talk about everything we'd been through in the beginning of all this. Back when I'd treated having a mate as more of a game than something to treasure. I'd just wanted to make her say yes. She wasn't giving in and she just seemed like a challenge. Looking back on it now, I was completely stupid. If I could change one thing, it would be go back and to tell that me to get his shit together faster.
Who knows. Maybe doing that could have avoided all of these problems.
I mentally shook myself as we went into our room. The past wasn't something I could change so I just had to move forward.
"Are you saying that you weren't a fan of my stalker tendencies?" I kissed her lightly.
She responded to the kiss, her body pressing into my own.
"I guess it wasn't so bad," she whispered breathlessly.
I smiled and pulled on her bottom lip with my teeth. She gasped slightly and I wanted her right then.
I lifted her shirt up and over her head. I tossed it to the side and our mouths came together again. Our tongues danced together, and her hands slipped under the bottom of my shirt, her nails dragging along my sides.
I groaned at the feeling her nails brought out in me. I broke the kiss long enough to take my own shirt off and I picked her up, her legs wrapping around my waist and I walked us over to the bed. I laid her down my mouth trailing kisses along her jaw, nipping lightly as I went.
My hands went down to her jeans and I unbuttoned them and pulled the zipper down. I moved down her body, taking her clothes with me before I removed my own and I gazed down at her.
My beautiful mate. My beautiful, strong Luna.
My beautiful, strong Alpha. Her words ran through my mind and I knew she could feel and hear my thoughts.
I moved down, covering her as I trailed kisses from her neck up her jaw.
When our lips locked I moved forward. She moaned into my mouth and I groaned. Everything intensified in that moment, greater than I'd felt before. Our kiss deepened and we came together in an intense fire.
Allison's nails raked down my back and I could feel her body rising, we soared higher together. I still couldn't believe that she was mine and I was hers, and that she was back with me safe. We started to come back down and I kissed her slowly, my hands on each side of her head, my fingers in her hair.
I pulled back and kissed her nose and then her forhead and her lips one more time before laying beside her.
Allison rolled onto her side, her head resting on my chest, one of her legs hooking around one of mine. My hand absentmindedly running through her hair.
"I love you, Alarik," she whispered quietly her face looking up at me.
"I love you too, Allison." I tipped her head up further and kissed her lips softly.
She laid her head back down on my chest and I lay there stroking my hand through her hair until I feel her breathing slow down and even out telling me she's asleep.
I looked forward to feeling her next to me for the rest of my life.
