Chapter 1- Someone at the Door

The majority of this book will probably be In Alarik's POV however you will be able to tell with the name I put at the top of the chapter.

If there isn't a name at the top, then it means it's in the same POV as the person before. I hope that makes sense... Now, on with TIME WILL TELL.

--Alarik--

There was a frantic knocking on the front door and I quickly went to answer it, thinking it was Allison. She should have been here already and I had started to get worried, relaxing slightly when I heard the knocking.

When I pulled the door back however, instead of Allison there was a smaller woman looking up at me, clearly shaken. Her whole body looked like it was about to collapse into a million pieces if anyone touched her.

"I-I need to speak to Alpha Trenton. I- saw something, something bad. Please, I need someone to help me."

My brows crinkled. I wasn't sure what she'd seen that could be so bad, it was as if she'd watched someone get murdured. I prayed that was not what had actually happened. If this woman had indeed seen something so gruesome that would truly be terrible. That and it meant that someone had been killed within our own pack.

"Right, come this way. I'll take you to him," I said quietly stepping to the side. I didn't want to touch her, because I didn't want to be the one responsible for breaking her.

I led her through the house, making our way back to my father's office.

"Um, dad. Someone's here to see you. She says she saw something, and that she needs your help."

My father looked up from the stacks in front of him and motioned me to let her through. I pulled the door open further and let her step through on her own telling her to take a seat in the chair. She almost looked as if she couldn't remember how to sit down, and it had me wondering again what could have possibly been so bad.

I let the door close behind her and I couldn't help by stick by the room to listen to what she said. I heard my father urge her to say whatever it was and then her small voice started.

It felt like my heart had stopped. I couldn't believe any of this.

I had felt something off, that much I know, but I never dreamed I'd hear the words that were coming from this woman's mouth.

She had just told my father an abduction had taken place outside her home. Taken right off the sidewalk by two large men. The girl she described matched the description of Allison, and I had to take a seat.

She'd come to tell my father, it had been someone in his pack after all that had been taken, I couldn't help but listen outside the door. My body sunk to the ground as my mind whirled.

Someone had taken Allison. No, there was no way someone would have taken Allison, there was no possible way that could have happened.

Then why isn't she here yet? I asked myself.

That was a good question. It had been over an hour since she said she'd be here, and it didn't take that long to get here from any of the places she was at.

I'd tried her phone, but each time it had gone straight to voice mail, no rings, and when I tried contacting her directly there had been nothing.

I quickly picked up my phone and dialed Cassie, the girl picked up on the third ring.

"Hello?" Her confused voice asked from the other end.

"Cassandra, It's Alarik, did Allison leave your place already?"

"She left a long time ago. She went to see you. She should have been there long before now."

I could hear the slight worry in her voice, but it was nothing compared to the panic I was feeling right now. I ended the call without another word.

I felt like everything was crashing down around me. I'd only just gotten Allison and now she was gone.

I raked a hand through my hair and started pacing. I could feel my heart rate picking up and I tried to take deep even breaths. What was I going to do.

I was going to find her, that's what I was going to do.

I was going to find her and bring her back safe.

I tried to think where she could have possibly gone. She had been taken by two men, but who knew if they were from our own pack or not. I knew there were a few sick, lowlife bastards that would kidnap a girl off the street for their own pleasure, and for their sake they better not have her.

But if it meant finding her--

I threw on my shoes and headed out the door in the direction of where those monsters lived. The homes started to get sparse and they began looking run down. I knew we were in the older part of the pack now. My father had talked about fixing it up, but there had apparently been other matters more pressing.

Then again the people that tended to live down here looked just as run down as their homes.

I went up to the one that was the furthest out, closest to the line where our territory ended and I walked straight up knocking on the door.

Not even a moment later I heard the hollaring on the other side. Loud booming voices and a large burly man opened the door.

"Well if it isn't the Alpha's son." The man sneered. A foul smell hit my face from inside the door and I really didn't want to know what was going on in there.

If Allison is in there they better pray to the gods that be that they walk away alive.

"Snakebite," I scowled. No one knew the man's real name, only what people had called him for years. A name given because of the piercings on his face. One of the many piercings that is.

"What have we done to be fortunate enough to get the presence of The Alarik Trenton?" The man asked and I heard laughter bursting from inside.

"I'm looking for someone. Her name's Allison. Long brown hair, eyes to match, about this tall." I held one hand up to just below my chin while my eyes held steady with his.

"Never seen her, but we'll make sure to take real good care of her and call ya if we do." Snakebite winked at me and and I felt a tremor of rage go through my body.

"You are under no circumstances allowed to lay a single finger or anything else on her. Do you understand?"

"Well yes'ir," he said with a mock salute. There was another burst of laughter from inside and I tried to peer around him. The place was littered with trash and molding food, among other things. I felt my stomach churn and it wasn't just because of the state of their living room.

Snakebite gave me a large toothy smile and after holding his gaze for a moment I turned to leave.

"I hope ya find the girl yer after!"

More laughter before the sound was muffled by the closing of the door.

I hadn't stepped in, but I didn't really need to. Allison's scent was no where around the house. Even though the smell of rot had been strong, I'd still been able to tell she hadn't been there.

I was glad, and also upset. There was no way I would ever want her subjected to those men, but in a way it almost would have been better if she had been there. If she had, then I would have simply killed those men and taken her back. She would be here with me and safe again. Instead, she was still somewhere out of my reach and I had no idea where she could possibly be.

I went to the treeline and stripped out of my clothes and shifted into my wolf. If I was going to cover the entirety of our land, then this would be the way to do it. I'd also have easier access to smell her out.

If Allison was within the perimiter of our land, then I would find her.

I went around as fast as my four legs would carry me, making sure I didn't go faster than I could smell. I had found myself at Cassandra's house where I was able to pick up the trail of the path Allison had taken. I started to follow it, making it nearly half way to my house when the trail stopped cold.

It was like she had just disappeared.

No, she hadn't disappeared, she'd been taken.

I could faintly smell where the car had been, but as soon as I got to the street, that was where the trail ended.

There were cars all the time, and cars didn't have a spacific smell like humans and werewolves did. But I was able to catch the scent of the two people that had taken Allison.

They had been human.

That right there was what worried me even more. It had been humans who had overpowered my mate and taken her. Had they targeted her for a specific reason?

If they had been able to drag her away, they would have had to know what she was. If they knew did that mean they had just been hunting for a werewolf and she had been the first one to find so they grabbed her?

I knew if that was the case, they would have been waiting for a female.

My mind instantly went to the worst case. That these men had been called in after Allison. That someone had sent them after my mate so she would be grabbed up and taken away from me, and there was only one person I knew who would possibly do such a thing.

Hazel.
