Chapter 14 (English)
P.S: I love this picture. Malcolm looks like, he's thinking: Angus? Are you allright?
The next morning we all felt a little shit. Too much alcohol. All the guests had left again last night. Malcolm came into the kitchen rather pale. His small body trembled as he made himself a coffee.
"Are you okay?" Asked Ellen. Malcolm nodded silently. He put a few things on a tray for breakfast.
"Where are you going with this?" I asked.
"To Linda." He breathed. His voice was pretty low.
"What's wrong?" Asked Brian.
"Nothing." Malcolm croaked. He finished his coffee and filled a new cup. We all looked at him skeptically. He was shaking pretty badly. Suddenly he turned and vomited into the garbage. Angus immediately raced to hold his hair back. Malcolm whimpered weakly.
"You have a fever." Angus said in surprise. "Off to bed!" He helped Malcolm up. I followed with the tray and Brian got a bucket. So we went up to Malcolm and Linda's bedroom. Linda was a little tired in bed. Cara was on her chest. I quickly understood that Linda had just fed her. "Lie down." Angus commanded and pushed Malcolm onto the bed. Brian put the bucket by the bed.
"Oh God. Darling. What's wrong?" Linda asked in shock.
"He has a fever." I said. I put the tray with the food on Linda's bedside table.
"Thanks, Arlene." She smiled.
"What do you think if Brian and I take care of Cara today? Then you can still sleep a little. You are really exhausted. And Malcolm...well, he just puked in the trash." She giggled a little.
"Well...that would be pretty nice of you." I hugged Cara with a smile.
"Get well." Angus warned, looking at Malcolm. We left the room. We went into the living room. Ellen had gone to her parents' house and Cliff and Phil were back in a bar somewhere. "Let me hold her!" Angus yelled excitedly. I giggled and carefully placed Cara in Angus' arms. Angus held her tightly. Brian smiled at his friend. "I'm your uncle." Angus cooed.

When the afternoon came, Cara wept all the time.
"What should we do with her?" Asked Angus, rocking his niece. "Sh. Sleep. All is well. Sleep." He hummed. "Sleep, Cara. Sleep." Brian sang a lullaby. I rolled my eyes and went into the kitchen to warm the milk. When I came back Cara was crying really loud. She screamed at the two men. Her little face was screwed up miserably and a little red. There was a rattle and Malcolm came charging down the stairs. He almost collapsed on the last flight of stairs. He got up and ran to the sofa. He sat down, trembling and pale as chalk, and took Cara out of Angus arms. He kissed her forehead gently.
"Sh. Everything is fine darling." He hummed. "Angus, get some milk. She's hungry." I handed the bottle to Malcolm. He looked at me in surprise. Malcolm was feeding his daughter and I watched with a smile.
"It's finally quiet." Angus whispered.
"Nobody can help it if you haven't even noticed that Cara was hungry!" I exclaimed, a little angry.
"Men are not meant to raise children!" Cried Brian.
"Malcolm is a man and he was the only one of you who immediately noticed what was bothering Cara." I countered.
"Malcolm is not a man." Malcolm looked defiantly at Brian.
"I'm more of a man than you, mate." I grinned a little. Brian didn't like being told that he wasn't a real man.
"What do you mean now!?" Brian exclaimed indignantly. Malcolm was still holding the bottle and letting his daughter drink the milk.
"A man is not there to be "macho man". A real man is someone who takes care of his wife and children. Someone who is there for others."
"Oh. Now you're playing yourself up because you're the only one here with a child!" Angus exclaimed, also a little angry. But Malcolm was right. That was what made a real man really. Cara whimpered softly when the milk was empty.
"Sh. All right, Cara." Malcolm took a small pacifier out of his pocket and put it carefully into Cara's mouth. She looked at him with big brown-green eyes as she suckled on the pacifier. "Sh. I'm here. Everything is fine." Malcolm hummed. I smiled when I saw the AC/DC logo on the pacifier. Angus pulled Cara out from Malcolm's arms. "Angus!" Malcolm yelled, wide-eyed. Angus jumped up with his niece in his arms. Brian too. Cara spat out the pacifier and cried loudly.
"So, now I'm a real man!" Angus shouted and rocked Cara wildly in his arms without feeling. Malcolm got up and wanted to get Cara back.
"Give her to me right now!" He screamed.
"Oh. That feels like shit not being a man, doesn't it?" Angus teased.
"Give me my daughter!" Malcolm yelled angrily. I could see he was scared for his baby. Angus ran up the stairs with Cara. Malcolm stumbled after him. He still had high fever and was uncoordinated. I ran after him. "Angus!" Malcolm roared angrily. We heard Angus laugh and Cara cry from the stairwell. Tears ran down Malcolm's cheeks. "Give her here!" Yelled Malcolm. We caught up with Angus. Malcolm hit Angus in the face so hard that blood spurted all over the place. Angus screeched. Malcolm grabbed his daughter and distanced himself from Angus. "Are you all right, Cara?" He asked anxiously and looked at his daughter, who was still crying. He gently stroked her cheek. She took Malcolm's finger and held it tight. Malcolm smiled. Angus ran towards Malcolm with a scream. Malcolm just managed to get Cara to me. I held the baby tight in my arms. Brian just came over to us and watched in shock as the siblings beat each other up. Cara was crying.
"Do something, Brimi!" I shouted angrily.
"Em...yes." Brian ran over to them and took them apart. Angus' nose was bleeding profusely. Malcolm's cast was broken and crumbled to the floor. His knuckles were bleeding too. "Stop it!" Shouted Brian. Angus was still kicking at his brother with his legs.
"He can't tell me I'm not a man!" Angus yelled.
"I never said that!" Malcolm countered.
"It's quiet now!" Shouted Brian. The two became calm. I held Cara to me. She stopped crying and looked at me fearfully.
"Everything is fine." I whispered and smiled at her.
"What happened?" Asked Brian.
"The madman grabbed my daughter! He could have hurt her!" Malcolm exclaimed. Now tears ran down his cheeks.
"I never wanted to hurt her!" Countered Angus.
"You tore her out of my arms and ran up stairs with her!" Malcolm yelled.
"Enough. Stop arguing. Excuse yourselves and it's all settled." Said Brian. I smiled. Malcolm sighed.
"He's right. I'm sorry, Ang." He held out his hand to his brother. Angus turned and left. Then he screamed:
"If this child is more important to you than me, then spend your time with her!" With that he was gone. There was silence between us. Malcolm walked over to me and looked at Cara.
"Is she okay?" He asked worriedly.
"Yes. She is fine." I nodded. Brian kissed me gently.
"Malcolm, your fingers jumped out of the splint again." Brian said worried. Malcolm held Cara protectively. "And you still have a fever." Malcolm nodded lazily.
"Yes. I'm not fine." It was quiet again for a while. "I didn't know he was so attached to me." Malcolm muttered.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Angus. He's obviously pretty jealous of Cara."
"I...Brian...Malcolm, I have something to tell you guys." I muttered.
"What is it?" They both asked. I bit my lip, trembling.
"I...Brian please don't hate me." I whimpered.
"Honey, I could never hate you. What's happening?"
"I'm a time traveler." I said quietly. Brian and Malcolm laughed.
"Good joke." Brian chuckled.
"I'm serious." I said and told them everything. Both were silent and listened to me. I ended up crying. "Please, Bri. Don't hate me." He looked taken aback.
"Baby, I could never hate you. I love you. Above all. Why didn't you tell me earlier what happened?" He stroked my hair. I cried into his chest.
"I was afraid."
"Sh. Everything is fine." He hugged me tightly.
"B...But what does that have to do with Angus?" Malcolm asked carefully.
"Malcolm you...you will die of dementia in 2017." It went quiet. Malcolm gasped.
"I...I will have dementia?" He whispered. I nodded.
"You will not remember Angus any more. I told him."
"That's why he's so affectionate." Malcolm whispered. "He almost never wanted to do anything to me and lately he's been with me all the time when taking care of Ellen. And now he thinks he's been replaced by Cara." A tear ran down Malcolm's cheek. "Cara is my daughter. I love her. Angus is my brother and I love him too. I can't replace him. I'll never do that." I sighed.
"He thinks so."
"I...I'll go to him." With that he left. Brian pulled me tight.
"Honey, you should have told me you were a time traveler."
"I don't know how I got here myself and I...I was afraid that you would then kick me out." He giggled softly and took my hands in his.
"I love you, Arlene. So much." He got down on his knee. My eyes widened. "I know that's pretty inappropriate, but..." He reached into his pocket and took out a ring box, which he held out to me. "I love you Arlene. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, grow old with you and have children with you. Do you want to marry me?" Tears welled up in my eyes. Oh my God! I whimpered a little. "Arlene?" He looked at me uncertainly.
"God! Yes! Yes! I want marry you, Brian!" I shrieked and fell on his neck. He laughed and kissed me hard. He got up again and gently pushed the ring onto my ring finger. It was a thin silver ring with a small green gem in a heart shape.
"Do you like the ring, darling?" He asked.
"Yes. Yes. It is gorgeous. Like you." I screeched and kissed him hard again."Green is my favorite color." I whispered against his lips. He grinned.
"I thought so. God. I am so glad that you want to marry me."
"What did you think?" I giggled. He grinned. We went into the living room holding hands. Angus and Malcolm sat there and hugged tightly.
"I will never replace you, okay little brother?" Malcolm patted Angus on the back. Cara was apparently in her crib.
"I'm sorry for what I said." Angus whispered.
"I'm sorry that I hit you."
"I'm sorry I broke your fingers again." Angus whispered. "Does that hurt a lot?" Malcolm bit his lip and nodded a little as Angus looked at Malcolm's limp fingers.
"I love you, little brother."
"I love you too, big brother." I cooed, as did Brian. Both looked at us.
"I'm engaged!" I screamed and showed them both the ring. Malcolm grinned at Brian.
"Come on now. We have to go to the hospital to have your fingers put back in plaster." Angus said and helped Malcolm up.
"Where's Cara?" I asked.
"With Linda." Malcolm replied. The two went out of the house to go to the hospital. I snuggled close to Brian. We went to see a movie and I just enjoyed sitting next to my fiancé.
*
After an hour the brothers came back. Malcolm's hand was cast in a green cast this time.
"That looks so cool!" I shouted, carefully taking his hand so as not to hurt him.
"Doesn't feel cool." Malcolm muttered. We laughed.
"Now show me the ring again. I didn't really see it earlier." Angus said and took my hand to look at the ring. I beamed proudly.
"Woe to you stealing the ring, Young." Brian threatened.
"As if I did that!" Angus exclaimed indignantly. I giggled. "It's a very nice ring." He smiled at me. "Where did you steal the ring, Bri?" We laughed. Brian rolled his eyes.
"You're going to be locked up for that, Brimi!" I shouted in shock. We giggled.
"And then you're going to have a jailbreak!" Cried Angus. I laughed.
"And he's going to leave jail with a bullet in his back!" Malcolm laughed.
"Jaaaaaaiiiillllllbreak!" We shouted in unison.
