Chapter 5 (English)
"Come on, Brian. We have to go after her." Brian nodded and we ran after her. Despite my pregnancy, I was faster than him. But that was no wonder, since he was already 73 years old. We soon found Linda. She was sitting on a log and looking out over the lake.
"Linds?" I asked and put a hand on her shoulder.
"Please don't call me that." She whispered. I sat down next to her. Brian stood quietly behind us.
"Why?" I asked, stroking her knee.
"Because...because he always called me that." I smiled.
"I know Malcolm called you that. That's why I said it. Listen. What you said earlier is true. I would be as devastated as you are. And it must have been terrible to see Malcolm die slowly and in agony in chronic pain. But please...go on. Live your life. Malcolm didn't want it any other way. When you cared a little for him, stop remembering the bad. Think about your wedding day. How beautiful he must looked there. How he held your hand when you gave birth to Cara. How you broke his knuckles." We giggled. "Do you see? Think of the nice things." She hugged me tightly.
"Thank you, Arlene."
"That's why we're friends, aren't we?" I smiled.
"Yes." She beamed. We went back to the others and Linda jumped into the water. I leaned against Brian, smiling.
"Do you think she'll be fine?" Brian asked, putting his arms around me.
"Yes. She just needed a little help. She should be fine now." Brian kissed the side of my neck. I leaned against him.
"Hey you lovebirds!" Angus called. "Get in the water!" I laughed. We went slowly into the water. I imitated Angus and tested the water temperature. Angus pulled me in. I laughed when I reappeared. Angus swam in a circle around me. The only thing you could see of him was his face. The rest was all submerged. Stevie wiped the surface of the water with his arm, letting Angus inhale water. "Hey!" Angus shrieked, gasping for breath. We laughed. I swam away from the group a little. A little further on I could see Phil sitting on a tree stump and Cliff standing in front of him. Cliff took a picture on his cell phone. I laughed. So the two made new profile pictures for WhatsApp or something. Suddenly someone was swimming next to me. Brian
"Hello, baby." He smiled. I giggled.
"Hello, husband." He giggled. We swam a little farther until we were on a sandbank. The water was only knee high here. We were all alone at this pond. Brian put his arms around me and kissed me gently. I moaned a little into the kiss and returned it. "I love you."
"I love you too." I laid my head on his old chest. "We have to figure out how to send you back in time." He said.
"Why? I am happy now because I am with you." I said blankly. Brian smiled at me.
"Sweetheart. I am old. You will have a baby in 6 months. I could be the baby's grandfather. I would leave you alone with our child, then at some point, because I would die. Do understand that. We have to send you back into the past, where you can be happy with my past." I nodded sadly. "And you can't tell me that you find, that this." He pointed to himself. "Is attractive. You are 29, darling. I'm 73. I'm way too old. We can't even go on a date." He said sadly. I kissed him hard.
"You are attractive, honey. You will always be attractive to me. Because I love you and you are my husband. But you are right. I should raise the baby with you and not alone. The only question is: How and why did I change the timelines?" He shrugged his shoulders.
"I don't know." He kissed my shoulder gently. I stroked his gray hair. He smiled at me. He put his hands on my little baby bump and stroked it. I hummed. "Your stomach gets a little bigger every day." He smiled. I giggled. "You know...I want to take pictures, okay? About you and the pregnancy. And you will always put these photos in your nightgown when you go to sleep because you might wake up back home in the 80s. And then, the then Brian should be able to see the pictures because I know he would feel terrible if he wasn't there." I nodded.
"Good idea, baby." He smiled at me. "I love you."
"I love you too, little one." I giggled.
"Do you remember when we met?" I put my head back on his chest.
"Yes." He chuckled. "You had half a heart attack."
"What? I was a fangirl." I giggled. "But...I told you that I absolutely love your new song" Shot in the dark "."
"Yes. And I said I've never had sung a song like this. But now I know which song you meant." I smiled.
"The song is so good. If I could, I would marry your new album PWR-Up." He grinned and kissed my nose.
"Bad luck darling. You already married me." We laughed.
"Hey! Are you coming!?" Angus yelled all over the lake. He stood on the dock and waved his arms. He looked so small from here. Well, he was usually little too. Brian giggled, as did I. Stevie and Cliff pushed him back into the water.
"Shall we?" Asked Brian, looking at me.
"Yes." I smiled and we swam back again.
