Restraints
A/N: *insert finger guns* hEyyyy guys, I'm back with another chapter! Glad to say this one isn't complete crap! It is double the amount of my normal chapters to make up for the last one. I Love you guys! And no warnings this time, seems pretty chill, maybe a few swears. Nothing I haven't covered already. Anywho ONWARDS!
"No, it's okay chum. Stay here until you sort yourself out." Bruce smiled, stroking a hand through Dick's ebony hair.
Robin smiled into Bruce's shoulder, everything was going to be okay.
Damian slowly opened his eyes with a silent yawn, greeted by the bright gleaming fur of what appeared to be an abnormally sized wolf? He raked his brain trying to remember the events that had just happened recently.
Ah, that's right. Miraculously he'd been sent to the past, preferably to when Grayson led the Young Justice team. Which was problematic on so many levels he couldn't even list them all, Dick had been massively effected by seeing Damian as Robin, which was not a good sign. At all. The situation is a big mess.
Seriously though; how did he end up here and would he be able to get back? Sure, Doctor Fate was going to assist and perhaps attempt a few spells.. But what if he fails, what would Damian do if he were to be stuck here in the horrid past? Maybe he could join the Young Justice team.. No they wouldn't like him, he was trained to kill. Everyone hated that about him, he was Talia's bratty spoilt child; why would such a thought occur to him. He was an assassin that didn't belong anywhere. He didn't belong here! Or back in his timeline, he didn't have a home.
He looked up at the ceiling in deep thought. Home, strangely enough he was almost certain he wouldn't be missed to much back at his 'home'. He'd recently learnt that Grayson didn't care about him and only kept him around to make sure he didn't go on another killing spree. That made the small boy's heart ache, he felt like there was an anvil attached to it, weighing him down. Why was this affecting him so much, why did Grayson's opinion matter so much.. It shouldn't, he's used to be hated.. Grayson was making him weak.. Well fuck him then! Maybe this was Grayson's plan all along.. To make him so weak.
Why would Grayson do that?
Damian felt a nudge at his side and glared down to see Wolf gazing into his eyes. He let out a shaky breath and scratched behind the white beast's ears. Although he hated to admit it, the animal's presence was... Nonetheless calming, but he supposed it was just the friendly aura the animal had. Glancing down at the animal he came to realise that Wolf strongly reminded him of Titus, which was annoying. He didn't want to be reminded of his 'home'..
He couldn't deal with these... Feelings and decided it would be best to find something productive to help clear out his clouded mind. He didn't want to be reminded of Grayson any longer.
Standing up, Damian proceeded towards where he assumed the training rooms were; this building had the security of a tent. Damian could just waltz around the place and nobody was attempting to stop him, not to mention he still had no solid evidence he wasn't a threat yet they allow him to be free. They're literally just trusting a uniform (which for all they could know could be a cheap cosplay brought at some shitty store), it was stupid. They were stupid. Grayson was stupid.
He literally told them he was trained to kill! He cringed, he had been so weak around them. Telling him about how he felt, he'd been brought down so low.
Damian stood in full gear, surprised they hadn't confiscated his weapons when he took that idiotic nap. Turns out being flung out of oh-so-mysterious portals tires you out a lot. But seriously, sleeping was not a good idea whilst he was stranded here.
He turned to the equipment, prepared to train. He assumed it was around 05:30 so it wasn't ridiculously early to start training. Hoping he wasn't going to wake anybody up, he gave a training dummy his best bat-glare and charged at it; child's play. It wouldn't even fight back, he slammed a fist into the dummy's 'stomach'. Stupid inanimate object, so weak. Useless, heh it reminded him of Drake.
Damian leapt back, flinging a birdarang which curved straight into the dummy's neck, slicing it's head clean off.
"Pathetic." He murmured to himself, looking down at the head that slowly rolled towards him, he cringed at it. Grayson told him not t- He kicked it away, annoyed. He was getting weaker, showing all this emotion. He was better off just to continue training his way.
"Of course you're in the training room!" A voice exclaimed, causing Damian to whip his head directly where the voice came from. He instantly glared at the figure, younger Grayson was standing there; his masked eyes obviously straying over to the headless dummy. "What are you doing!?" He practically shouted, gesturing wildly to the dummy as if Damian didn't know it was there.
"Training." Damian responded simply.
"That is so not whelming! You murdered that dummy! You should know if you were Robin to not bloody try to kill everything!" Damian almost winced at this, there it was.. Grayson only kept him around to ensure he didn't murder anyone; he was like an aggressive dog its leash, isolated from its pack.
"So?" Damian questioned. "What do you want?"
Taking a deep breath in Robin began to explain why he had been looking for the ex-assassin. "You need to come." He sighed. "Of course I'll make sure Bats hears of this.. Little scene that you've caused." He added, anger was still clear on his face; tch, poor attempt at hiding it.
And Damian couldn't help but notice the facial features that indicated that Robin was tired, had he gotten much sleep. Nightmares perhaps? His Grayson had many of those- no that doesn't matter anymore Grayson doesn't care about him.
Damian shrugged the feelings aside, again. "So, Grayson. I'll be correct to assume you are to intoragate me now?" He questioned, cocking his head to the right slightly. "It has been a while, I'm surprised you haven't attempted already."
"Damn straight!" Robin agreed. "I want answers, and you're going to tell me them!" Robin stomped out of the room uncharacteristicly, a bored Damian trailing behind him; having nothing better to do he may as well just cooperate.
They arrived in a medium sized room, none of the Young Justice team were in it, with of course the exception of Robin who had led Damian there. The room was dark, hardly any lighting; nothing Damian wasn't used to though; the bat cave was much worse.

The sound of handcuffs he'd heard them many times before, turning around his masked eyes laid upon Batman. The bat glared at him in return. "Don't resist." He spoke before taking off Damian's gloves, boots, and confiscating all of his weapons. Damian knowing fully well he wouldn't be able to escape from Bruce's grasp allowed him to do so, didn't mean he wasn't going to talk. "Oh so you decide when I cooperate to take my stuff but when I attack your team you don't?" Damian wanted to laugh at that, causing Batman to not be impressed.
"Listen! You're to dangerous to have roaming around freely, the news has only just gotten around to me that you knew how to kill!" The bat growled, causing Damian to frown.
The dark night spoke up again, "you will follow these rules. You are not to attempt escaping, you will not taint the minds of this team, you will not attack anyone, you won't be able to walk around freely without anyone supervising you, and you WILL answer my questions truthfully." Batman growled, causing Damian to raise an eyebrow. Why would he escape when he's waiting for Doctor Fate to return? This logic makes no sense to Damian whatsoever.
"Is that understood?"
"Yes." Damian declared, not bothering to argue; though not being able to be alone bothered him greatly.
"What is your name?" Batman asked, jumping straight into the questions.
"I can't tell you, it would effec-"
"What is your name?" Batman interrupted, glaring into Damian's eyes; it was obvious the bat wasn't willing to back down.
Damian thought for a moment, would his name honestly affect the timeline that much? Not that he knew of.. no it probably wouldn't. "..Damian." He stated simply, knowing Batman would probably suspect it's a fake name anyway.
"Damian. You said I was your 'father'." Damian looked down at this, stupid slip-up; if only he hadn't retorted back to Batman at that time. He basically had just stuffed up a lot of his future from this.
"Is this true?"
"...No." Damian said weakly.
"Don't lie to me!" The bat snapped. "Who is your mother?" He asked.
"Okay yeah, there is no way in hell I am going to answer that one." Damian scoffed. "It would jeopardise my whole future, who knows what could happen if I told you that. It's bad enough that I told you my name." Damian glared back at Bruce, hoping to intimidate the bat a little.
Bruce thought for a moment before nodding. "Fine. You don't have to answer that one, we'll continue this later on." He stood up and stormed out of the room; leaving Robin and Damian alone.
Damian turned to Robin, a pissed expression clear on his face. "Are you guys going to just leave me like this? Hands stuck together, no footwear?"
"Yes." Robin frowned, looking down at Damian. "What? Did you expect us to allow a murder to wander through our mountain?"
"I suppose I may of thought so little of you." Damian shrugged.
There was an awkward silence in the room, as Damian wasn't the best conversationalist..
"Hey Damian... Am I... am I dead in the future?" Robin asked carefully, sadness clear in his voice.
Damian who was not expecting the question blinked in surprise. But he supposed the question made a lot of sense, seeing as Damian was Robin and all. "No Grayson, you aren't deceased."
"Oh..." Robin bit the inside of his cheek, and allowed silence to take over momentarily before he spoke up again.
"Come." Robin walked out of the room, looking back to make sure Damian was getting up as well.
Damian followed Robin into the entertainment room. Although Damian was in here not to long ago many others had shown up. Superboy was watching static while Miss Martian clung to his arm, whispering something in his ear, giggling. Damian resisted the urge to groan at this.
Kid Flash and Artemis were in a fullout argument, something about Waffles and Pancakes? Why weren't they at school, perhaps it was a weekend? And lastly Aqualad was setting up a game of chess, he was most likely going to ask somebody to play a game with him soon enough; most likely Robin, seeing as he'd be the only worthy opponent.
As soon as Kidflash took notice of Robin he sprinted towards him, enveloping him into a big hug. "Dude! Are you okay?" He asked, worry clear on his eyes.
"Yeah KF, I'm fine." Robin offered a smile.
"That's great my friend, care for a game of chess?" Kaldur asked, gesturing to the game he'd set up.
"No thanks Kal', unless someone can keep an eye on Damian over here." Robin gestured to the boy who was muttering 'We're literally the same age you idiot.'
"His name is Damian?" M'gann asked, Robin nodded in response. "We have to keep a close eye on him to make sure he doesn't try anything. Bats orders."
"That should be simple enough." Superboy scoffed, turning back to his static. "The kid has handcuffs on and he has nothing to fight with. Why not just keep him in a cell?"
"Because, he's just a kid. Despite what he's done. And don't let your guard down, he's a bat so don't get to cocky. We've been trained how to escape these situations, or at least I have." Robin spat out the last part, still irritated that Damian was Robin.
"Should still be easy enough.." Conner muttered.
Everyone shrugged, turning back to their activities.
Damian just stood awkwardly to the side as Robin went to play chess with Kaldur. He then looked over to see Artemis glancing at him from the corner of her eyes.. She was keeping a close eye on him, it was reasonable.
"Hey. Damian are you okay?" A voice asked from inside his head, he jumped slightly at this. "Sorry to startle you, I can just sense waves of dismay... You seem sad." Damian's eyes widened at this, he'd completely forgotten about the Martian's empathic powers.. What if she digs to far into his mind! He couldn't have that.
"Fuck off Martian!" He snarled, causing M'gann to whimper; retreating into Conner's arms.
"Hey leave her alone!" Wally shouted, zipping closer to Damian.
"Leave her alone?! She was in my head!" Damian yelled back.
"So?! You're literally our prisoner!" Wally retorted.
"Maybe you should just leave me alone!"
"What!? You expect me to leave the little assassin to wander around M'gann and Supey's home?"
Damian glared up at Wally. "I don't kill anymore!"
"What proof do you have?!"
".. None, but I don't kill anymore..." Damian stated, lowering his voice slightly.
"Fine. Doesn't change the fact you're a potential threat." Wally shrugged, walking away from Damian; going back to his argument with Artemis. Leaving Damian to remain standing where he was.. He pushed all thoughts out of his mind, it was best to remain with an emotionless mask. That way he wouldn't be read, nobody was to know anymore about him other then his name.
A/N: This ended a bit weirdly, sorry. Please correct any mistakes you find with a reasonable attitude! And this kinda took a while to publish, I kept forgetting this story existed.
Reminder! Votes and Comments are what make me more motivated to write better chapters! Just putting that out there so you know ;-)
