Chapter 7: Secrecy
Hisoka's POV
(y/n) was in her room and I was in the bathroom. I had a watch in there with me that can show a hologram of someone. I opened it and called the only contact.
Their face came up and I whispered to them.
"Has the girl told you anything worth breaking her mind over?"
I nodded and whispered
"She told me about her mother, sad really she thinks I pity her."
We smirked
"Good Hisoka, I'll tell you the next plan of action within a few days. Make sure you keep her trust and make sure she doesn't suspect anything from you."
"And for Stein?"
"Leave him to me."
She went away and I left the bathroom as I flushed it to make it look like I actually used it.
I found her in the kitchen and she was spooning more ice cream.
Your POV
I looked at Hisoka as he walked in.
"Hey, want some ice cream?"
He smiled adorably.
"Hell yeah."
I giggled lightly and got him some and pushed the bowl to him as he grabbed it and took a big bite before regretting it immediately.
"Ah! Brain freeze!"
He held his head and drew in quick breathes trying to get it to stop while I hit the floor from laughing too hard.
After we both calmed down he looked at me and pouted.
"Big meanie, why'd you laugh?"
I giggled and poked his nose.
"You're cute when you pout."
I blushed as I realized what I said.
He smirked.
"I'm cute huh?"
I shook my head.
"That wasn't what I meant."
He shrugged.
"Sure it wasn't."
"Don't you believe me?"
He shrugged and walked away.
I felt the heat on my face as I sighed.
"I'm going to bed."
I mumbled and walked away.
~The Next Morning~
I woke up and began my usual routine as I mumbled the same phrase my mother taught me when I was little.
"If you're early you're on time and if you're on time you're late."
I breathed a sad sigh as I remembered her.
She was always so nice and happy.
She never had a sad day.
She even managed to smile and make me feel better when she was sick.
I felt a tear or two slip down my cheek as I smiled sadly.
"I miss you, Mommy."
I mumbled lowly as I ran my hand across the mirror to move some of the condensation so I could see my reflection. I dried off and got ready like I usually do before going to make breakfast.
I stopped as I saw Hisoka already cooking.
"Good morning!"
He was bright and cheery today as usual.
I smiled a little as he handed me my morning coffee.
I sat down in the living room in my favorite stitched chair that was a housewarming gift from Stein.
It always makes me think of him.
Maybe that's the design or that it still smells like formaldehyde.
I shook my head a little and smiled to myself as I wondered if he was awake yet.
I grabbed the house phone and dialed his lab.
"Hello?"
He groaned.
"Hey, Steiny."
"Oh, hey (y/n)."
I frowned lightly.
"Are you upset about something?"
He sighed as I heard his bed creak.
I woke him up.
"No, I'm fine. I was just asleep still."
I giggled.
"I need to get you an alarm clock."
"Get me one of those and I'll smash that damn thing."
I laughed a little more.
"I'll leave you alone so you can get ready."
He hummed in reply.
"I'll see you at school then, professor."
He said a quick bye before hanging up.
I looked at my phone for a moment before putting it down and hearing that breakfast was ready.
Stein's POV
I let the phone hit the floor. I was in my room in my bed sure. But I wasn't asleep.
I was laying there trying to find out why I had a bad feeling.
Usually, my hunches tell me what it is right away but this time something was different.
I couldn't place it.
Maybe I was overreacting?
I'll never know.
I got ready and began my usual walk into Death City to the DWMA. I got there at my usual time and walked into my class to see Hisoka and (y/n). She was getting him ready for a test considering that he was a bit behind in class.
I looked at the two before sitting at my desk. The bell rang and after I taught the lesson and gave the students time to work I found my gaze was being drawn to Hisoka. Something was off about that boy and but I couldn't comprehend what it was. I decided to go speak to Lord Death after the school day was over. He might know something and at the very least ease my worry.
