Chapter 6: Gotta Tell You Something

(734 words)

Your POV

I woke up the next morning and decided that today would be the day that I tell Hisoka a little more about myself. Let him in on my history because if he's going to be my weapon then he deserves to know.

I got up and sighed as I made my way to his room to wake him up. Today was Saturday so I don't really have much of a schedule to follow.  I woke him up and sat on his bed as he rubbed his eyes and looked at me.

"(y/n)? What is it?"

I looked at him for a moment.

"There's something I want to tell you about."

He looked at me and nodded slowly.

~Flashback~

It was only a kid when it happened. My mother was gravely ill. She had the early stages of tuberculosis. My father couldn't afford the treatment.

So at this point, it was a waiting game. I had gotten a job to help my father get the money. But it still wasn't enough. Some wealthy family we were close to had caught wind of our distress and offered to help, but the illness was too far along for the medicine to do any good.

I remember walking into her room with my father as we knew the day of her passing was coming.  I walked over to her bedside as she was pale and looked tired. She had bags from the lack of sleep from coughing and wheezing all night causing her insomnia. Her handkerchief she had was spotted with blood from coughing so hard.

I grabbed her pale, cold, and clammy hand.

"Mommy?"

She looked at me and smiled slightly as the sweat was beaded on her forehead.

"Yes, baby?"

I felt my lip quiver.

"I love you, Mommy."

I watched a tear roll down her cheek as she smiled at me.

"I love you too, baby."

She squeezed my hand a little as she blinked slowly. Her breathing slowed and my father put his hand on my shoulder as he tried to pull me off her. I held on to her hand.

"No, Mommy!"

My father turned me around as I cried into his shoulder.

I heard the slow breathing of my mother fade slowly as she fell asleep for a long time. I pulled away from my dad and noticed that his deep blue eyes were glassed over and red from crying.

"Daddy, Momm, she's....she's.."

I began crying again.

He pulled me closer an picked me up before carrying me to my room. He laid on my bed with me and I eventually fell asleep.

~Feels over~

I looked at Hisoka and he had teary eyes as he looked at me.

"I'm sorry to hear that. I'm happy you trust me enough to share that with me."

He crawled over to me and hugged me tightly. The tears that I cried when I was little came back out and soaked his shirt.

He rubbed my back and held me close.

I calmed down and he looked at me.

"I think you need some ice cream now."

I giggled a little and wiped my eyes.

"That sounds pretty good actually."

He smiled at me.

"Wanna go for a walk through? I think we need to go to the Death Market."

I nodded and stood as I cleaned myself up a little bit and we got ready.

We left the house and went to the Death Market and found Stein on our doorstep.

"Hey, Stein."

He looked at us and smiled lightly.

"You two going to the market?"

I nodded and he smiled.

"Care if I join?"

I shrugged and we began walking to the market.

It didn't take long for him to figure out what I told Hisoka.

He looked at me for a moment but didn't say anything as I knew he knew.

Hisoka went to find the ice cream and Stein looked at me.

"You told Hisoka about your mother didn't you?"

I nodded slowly.

"Why wouldn't I tell my partner?"

He shrugged for a moment.

"Just be careful what you tell people. That kind of thing can be used against you."

I nodded.

"I know I have trust issues but I trust my weapon."

He nodded and put a hand on my shoulder.

"Just as long as you're happy that's all that matters."

My heart fluttered.

That is odd, even for Stein.
