-Because of the previous excitement of the night before, Vision wanted to go to a music store. Music was something he never really experienced before. What he mainly heard was what Tony liked to play when he worked, and that was mainly during his JARVIS days. Vision was more of a reader, after all. Not necessarily by choice, but because it's what fit his criteria. So, the next day, Wanda decided to show Vision around a record shop. Vision promised to take her to a book store afterwards to show Wanda his favorite works.
"You need to start with the classics," Wanda said as the two began to move through the store. The whole store was organized alphabetically, then chronologically. It was very easy finding their way around. "Spending time with a music lover like Sam on a jet for the majority of your time, you become very educated in music. And with someone as...erm... old school as Steve, you get a wide variety," Wanda said, finding her way to the Michael Jackson albums.
Wanda thumbed through the albums, finding the specific one she was looking for. She smiled as she pulled it out. "This is Michael Jackson's album, 'Bad.' The song we heard last night is on this album," she said, handing it to Vision. He then started to read over the titles on the back of the album sleeve. "I have heard one of these before," Vision says after looking them over. "Mr. Stark is pretty fond of this one," he added pointing to the title 'The Way You Make Me Feel.' Wanda smirked. "You think so? Watch Sam dance to it," she said, causing Vision to chuckle.
"Do you have a favorite song of his?" Vision asked, handing the album back to Wanda. She nodded, sliding the album back into its place and taking out a different one instead. She handed it to Vision, pointing to a title on the back. " 'Earth Song' ?" He asked aloud. Wanda nodded once more, frowning slightly. "It's a little sad, but it's quite beautiful," Wanda explained. Vision nodded understandingly.
"Is it possible to...perhaps...purchase some of the albums you enjoy? I would like to start listening to music with you," Vision admitted, reviewing the song titles on the new album he had. Wanda shrugged. "I would love to, but I don't think Sam would allow a record player on his jet. You could take it, but it wouldn't fit in your suitcase."
"Then I can buy another one. Or ask Natasha to bring me one. Either way, I believe it is a rather good investment." Vision argues, causing Wanda to sigh in defeat. "I guess you're right," she said, allowing Vision to hang onto the album. Wanda began to continue walking through the store. Vision followed, but not before taking the first album they were looking at and taking it with him, as well. Wanda led Vision to a different section of the store.
"This is a famous classical artist, Johann Sebastian Bach. Classical pieces are very symphonic. Quite relaxing, too, when you're in the right sort of mind," Wanda said, flipping through records. "Do you like classical music?" Vision asked as he watched her. Wanda shrugged. "More or less. For me, I really only listen to it when I need to relax. Instrumentals do that to me," Wanda explained, now backing away from the specific section. She then looked at Vision, smiling sweetly at him. "You strike me as a classical music kind of guy, though," she said, sending a wink in his direction. Vision mimicked her smile, raising an eyebrow. "Oh?" He asked, Wanda nodded, grabbing his hand and making her way towards several other classical artists.
Wanda briefly tackled all of the popular classical artists like Beethoven and Debussy in a fairly short amount of time. Vision eventually ended up with a Mozart record to take back with him. After classical, Wanda moved onto classics. It was sort of hard to do considering every genre had its king or queen that started it all, but Wanda did her best with what she knew. She started with Elvis and made her way through Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Queen, Hank Williams, Elton John, Prince, and so many more. She also went through a brief history on MOTOWN records.
"Sam and Steve really love MOTOWN," she said, holding a Stevie Wonder record. "Really? Why do you think?" Vision asked, genuinely curious. "Vis, MOTOWN was practically a global revolution. At least according to them. I mean, I don't really know.." "Well then they sure are worth a listen, aren't they?" Vision asked as he began to take the record. Wanda tightened her grip. "Do you realize how many people and groups were part of MOTOWN? I don't even know all the names!" Wanda exclaimed. "Well, who is Mr. Wilson's favorite and who is Captain's favorite?" Vision asked. Wanda thought for a moment before shaking her head, silently saying that she didn't really know.
"Do you have a favorite?" Vision asked and Wanda shook her head again. "Then I suppose I'm taking this one," Vision said, finally achieving in taking the 'Talking Book' album out of Wanda's grasp, causing her to role her eyes. Vision already had two Michael Jackson albums, the Mozart record, a Queen record, and a Carpenters record. Now, Wanda was starting to belief he was going a bit overboard.
"Vis," Wanda began, lightly grasping his forearm, "slow down a bit. We shouldn't be using so much money like this. And you still need to buy a player!" Vision smiled at his girlfriend's cautiousness. "Dear, we can always ask Natasha to bring extra money if we need it. I don't believe it's an issue. If it was, Captain Rogers would not have given us the amount that he did to start us off," Vision said, a hint of mischief lacing his words. Wanda easily detected it and began to smile. "Oh, whatever," she said, moving away from him.
The two didn't spend much longer in the store. Once they got to modern day musical artists, Wanda was more at a loss than anything. She was not too familiar with any of it being that none of the three that she spent time with were. Eventually, though, Wanda convinced Vision that it was time to leave. The two paid for all of the records as well as a record player before leaving. The couple did happen to walk there, so they decided to drop off their buys off in their hotel room before heading to the book store because they definitely did not want to carry around a record player all day.
At first, Vision was carrying the player, but Wanda made him switch before the halfway point of the walk. He fought the idea, but she ended up persuading him. Wanda assumed it slipped Vision's mind that she had telekinetic powers and could easily carry the record player with a little help from her scarlet red hexes. The two made it in and out of the hotel with ease, taking a few minutes to sit and contact Steve about needing both another suitcase and even more money than the couple had originally asked Natasha to bring.
Soon enough, the couple set off again. This time, they landed in a book store that was much smaller, but also a lot busier than the music shop they were in.
It took Vision no time to find the section of Shakespearean pieces. They were, of course, amongst the rest of the poetry. Wanda looked around the area while Vision picked out a favorite of his and brought it back to Wanda for her to examine. Wanda was soon approached with 'The Sonnets and a Lover's Complaint,' 'Cymbeline,' and 'The Phoenix and the Turtle'. Wanda took them all from Vision, skimming over the summaries of them. "Lovely. Which is your favorite?" Wanda asked, cradling the books in her arm. "That's tough, but I have to say 'The Phoenix and the Turtle'. It is sort of intense and it's known to have many interpretations. It's overall quite beautiful. In my opinion, of course," Vision rambled on. Wanda smiled, looking a Vision with fondness. It was very evident that this was something he was quite passionate about.
"Have you ever read 'Romeo and Juliet'?" Vision asked. Wanda shook her head. Just as everyone sort of knew what it was, so did she, but she had never read it. Vision immediately turned around and picked up a copy, adding it to Wanda's pile. "I'm sorry," he apologized, "but it is a must. It is his most popular work, after all."
The two made their way out of the poetry section as Vision led Wanda over to the classics, just as she had did for him in the music store. Vision went through stories like 'Frankenstein' by Mary Shelly, 'Great Expectations' by Charles Dickens, 'Invisible Man' by Ralph Ellison, 'Rebecca' by Daphne du Maurier, and the list goes on for a while. Bruce Banner happened to have a very large collection of books in his abandon room in the Avengers Headquarters. Vision found his way around considering he was there alone the majority of the time. Reading was pretty much what got him by. Having so much free time and all, Vision has probably read every book on Bruce's shelf. He had nothing else to do. He couldn't go outside without a human exterior and the only visitors he ever had was Tony and Rhodey. Everyone else was either MIA or lost, it felt like.
Vision and Wanda began to head up to the counter to pay for the books that the two had picked out. On the way up, a book towards the front of the store caught Wanda's eye. The cover had multicolor, metallic looking stripes with a lengthy quote a the center. Wanda grabbed it on impulse, making sure to quickly catch up with Vision so he wouldn't notice her extra pick.
Though the couple did really enjoy their day, the both of them agreed that they were happy to be heading back to their room for a while. For one, they had been on their feet practically all day. For another, it wasn't such a nice day to be out and about. About mid-day, it started to sprinkle on and off. The wind was rather bitter and the air, being early fall, was sort of chilly to begin with.
Personally, Wanda was excited to be getting back because Vision had promised to read her some of Shakespeare's sonnets. Personally, Vision was excited to listen to one of his new records. He figured if he didn't like what he had, he could always regift. No one would know.
When the couple did finally arrive again, they ordered Chinese takeout and had it delivered up to their room so they didn't have to leave the building again. It wasn't the most romantic meal that they've had during this getaway, but it was still plenty enough for them.
In attempt to set the mood at least slightly, Vision lit a small candle that was typically sitting in the bathroom. He set it between the two as they were eating dinner and turned off all of the surrounding lights, leaving a couple distant ones on and the window blinds cracked so they would not be completely blind.
"I loved today," Vision said, smiling at Wanda from across the small table.
The couple were currently sitting on the floor on either side of the coffee table. The couch was an option, but the two decided the would have rather faced each other, instead.
"I did, too. I never knew that you read so much. You continue to surprise me," Wanda responded, followed by a bite of her lo mein. Vision sighed, thinking about Avengers Headquarters.
"It is rather lonely back in New York, you know," Vision began to say, instantly making Wanda's heart sink. "I mean, no one is together anymore. No one quite knows where Thor or Dr. Banner are. Clint went home. You four are all pretty much just doing anything so you don't get caught and Tony is too busy being in love to come around these days," Vision went on. He soon realized he came on to strong and lightly chuckled in attempt to take the edge off, but Wanda knew his laugh wasn't real.
"I wish more than anything that I could be with you all the time. I'm sorry you had to be alone. I know how that feels," Wanda said, her Sokovian accent slipping out every now and then. Vision took note of that. Perhaps the bad memories make the accent come out, he thought.
"There is no need to apologize, my love. I did not mean to make you feel bad. You're here now. We're together now. That is what matters," Vision said, sending her a reassuring glance. Wanda smiled at Vision and nodded, moving her attention to her food once again.
The two continued light conversation as they ate, laughing and making jokes. When they were done, they cleaned up their area and did their own nightly routines, changing into comfier clothes in order to start getting ready for bed.
The two met each other in the large bed. Wanda was the later of the two in bed. She found Vision with the book of sonnets in his hands. He had already opened it and began looking through some, himself.
"Read to me?" Wanda asked, snuggling into the sheets. She lightly placed her hand on Vision's chest, resting her head on his shoulder and looking over to see the book, as well. "Of course," Vision answered, wrapping an arm around her, pulling her even closer to him.
"So is it not with me as with that Muse, stirr'd by a painted beauty to his verse,
Who heaven itself for ornament doth use, and every fair with his fair doth rehearse,
Making a couplement of proud compare with Sun and Moon, with earth and sea's rich gems:
With April's first-born flowers and all things rare, that heaven's air in this huge rondure hems,"
Wanda softly yawned, yet smiled through Vision's gentle voice reciting the words to her. She could feel herself nodding off, but she didn't want Vision to stop reading to her. Vision knew he should probably stop, but he also knew that Wanda wouldn't want him to, so he continued.
"O let me true in love but truly write, and then believe me, my love is as fair,
As any mother's child, though not so bright as those candles fix'd in heaven's air:
Let them say more that like of hearsay well, I will not praise that purpose not to sell."
Just as Vision predicted, the poetry easily put Wanda to sleep. He sighed, setting the book down on the nightstand beside him, turning off the lamp; the only source of light in the hotel room.
The sudden darkness soon made Vision realize how tired he was, as well. Vision tried to reposition the two of them without waking Wanda, which did end up working successfully. Wanda's hand was still in place whereas her head now rested on her pillow, allowing Vision to flip over on his side, facing Wanda. He wrapped his arms around Wanda, pulling her into his chest.
Vision's eyes fluttered shut as he allowed himself to place a soft kiss in Wanda's hair. "Goodnight, my beloved," he whispered,
He then fell asleep.
Day Number Five.
