At detention I sat twirling my pen around my fingers and staring out the window. Then I turned to Carson, who was secretly on his phone under his desk. I looked at his muscular arms, and his light brown hair, the way he smiled when he got a match in Candy Crush. Dude you really gotta stop. I thought to myself turning away. I am not gay. Besides I had to act normal when he came over to play video games. Though we would be alone, since my mother had a meeting for the college she taught at. Nope. Not thinking like that.
At long last the bell rang signaling we were all free to go home. Carson and I walked out to my car together talking about our games, and who would beat who. I always beat him.
When we reached my house we sat on the floor in front of the TV, and Carson went and put our disk in. We began battling in Mario. I am, of course, undefeated. After a few losing games Carson sat back in defeat running a hand through his hair. I thought in that moment he looked just like a picture. Which gave me an idea. I reached down and pressed the button on my watch, causing time to stop again. I looked at his wavy hair, and soft lips, and I thought to myself, how much I wanted to kiss him. How much I wanted to feel his lips against mine.
"Coward." I said to the frozen Carson. "You're a Coward. Just kiss me already. I'm sending all the signs. So do it! Kiss me!"
Obviously he didn't move or react, but I wondered what he would actually say, if he could hear me. Would he be angry? Or maybe...happy? Nah Carson had a girlfriend, but I could hope. I sighed and turned back to face the TV, hitting the button to start time.
"So...Another gam..." I was cut off as Carson grabbed my face, and crashed our lips together. He moved in sync with me, forcing his tongue into my mouth, then he froze, and pulled back, leaving me cold.
"I...uh... don't know why I did that..." he said, his face filled with horror. "I should go." He said standing. I launched into action pressing the pause button. He stood hand on the door about to leave.
     "Whatever I say when time is frozen people do?" I thought aloud. "When time starts you will think you're a chicken." I said to Carson, then reached into my pocket to start time again. Instantly Carson crouched down and began flapping his arms like wings, clucking, and pecking at the ground. I pulled out my phone taking a video as he trotted round in circles. Then I stopped time again.
     "Oh this could be fun..." I said to no one in particular. "You're a dog, Carson, get down on your hands and knees and beg." I said starting time again. Carson got down on his hands and knees and began to pant and beg. I'm not gonna lie. It was hot.  I sighed. "This isn't right."  I said slowly. "Carson, you're going to forget everything I've made you do." He woke up after the time began, and sat down on the couch.
     "Man I bet I could beat your ass." He said holding the game I had beaten him at earlier.
      "I bet I could beat yours." I said starkly.
