| Chapter 5 |
My heart rapidly began to beat against my chest. I knew that we have a very well emergency system, but that didn't cross my mind. The only thought I had was that I was scared. I haven't ever felt this way since we evacuated the surface. I felt my pulse rise and my breathing starting to take shallow quick and short breaths. I think Clove tried talking to me, everything else was beginning to fog, I even started to block out all the noise around me. The blood was dark and didn't waste any time to spill away from my body. It trickles down to the floor, slowly making its point across. There was many voices talking to me now, all I knew and wanted was for me to take my eyes away from the horror in front of me. To just make everything go away and to be up on the surface. Where the sun warms your skin and melts ice. We have gotten used to the cold down here but I always wonder. Wonder about it all.
Someone grabbed me and carried me out of the kitchen and down the assignment hall. I heard foot steps and seen twice of everything. My vision was narrowing now and I don't know how much blood I was loosing but I thought I would be fine.
I think I heard my mothers voice. My mother doesn't like talking about the surface. About what's above. I've bugged her about it before and finally she said something. She said that she missed the ones left behind, only so many people got to come down here and live. The others are believed to be dead. My sister says she misses her best friends and that she can't remember them but she knows she had some. She forgot their voices and what they looked like. She wishes she wasn't friends with them so she didn't have to live everyday knowing that she left them behind. I told her that it isn't her fault. She had no choice to leave them. I think I remember having a friend, even though I don't remember anything about her or him. My senses began to lower even more. I had a terrible pain in my right leg and of course my left hand. I thought I remembered only cutting my middle and pointer finger, but my whole hand began to burn and sting. Sweat dropped down my forehead to the top of my nose. My breath got even shallower to where I didn't know if it could be any worse. But of course as soon as anyone thinks it is at the worse point possible something worse happens. Everything went dark and so did my thoughts.
