"Wait," I replied slowly. "Can you say that again?"

"Your daughter was accepted. She won the lottery seat we had open. She is one of only two children who got in through the lottery this year."

Stunned speechless, I leaned back against my chair and stared blankly at my bulletin board.

"Really?" I whispered, still unsure.

I was praying this phone call wasn't a cosmic joke. We had been trying for this for so long.

"She did?" I asked skeptically. "You're sure?"

When the secretary didn't answer fast enough, I stuttered some more.

"Wait, really? REALLY?" I repeated, coming out of my stupor.

"Oh my gosh, SHE GOT IN?!?"

Laughing on the other line, the school secretary confirmed that my daughter had indeed just been accepted into their charter school.

Talk about a happy dance. Cutting a rug in my office, I was all over the place. Beyond happy, I felt like a rocket about to explode.

"SHE GOT IN!

WHOO-HOO!"
