Mother Nature's thunder and lightening child drained from the truck bed as she drove behind him on the ending highway,

and she wondered where he'd been last night.

The sun was barely up and he was already on the road. Was he racing towards his work,

or going home to see the wife and kids?

As they pulled up to the blinking red light, which marked the end of the line, she watched him roll down his window and turn on his blinkers

towards a lonely, narrow road.

An eager, mottled coon hound stuck two floppy ears out 'a rear dusty window and sucked in the passing dew. Its shoulders disturbed an unnoticed fishing pole,

and she smiled.
