Shipment
Aurora was thrilled to be able to say she was Bucky's fiance, thrilled to say that Bucky would be hers and she would be his. The aftermatch was peaceful, the two just laid in bed after the proposal acting like teens as they stared into each other's eyes. Bucky was happy to say he got the girl of his dreams, the girl he could always see himself with and be with no matter what. Bucky would no longer have to rely on his dreams to think of her and the life he wanted.
The girl was on her way to find Bucky, knowing roughly where he would be, she had a wide smile on her face and was looking forward to going out with Bucky tonight to the showcase of the 'future.' Her coat swayed with her footsteps, she was making her way to a diner to have a meal but stopped hearing two familiar voices.
"Buck, have you told her yet?"
"No, I was on my way to see her, tell her what was happening and be there with her to make sure she was okay. Steve, I just proposed to this girl and now, I have to..."
"I know, but you'll come back to her, you can have your wedding once you get back. It's going to be okay." Aurora prepared herself for the worse, she followed the voices and placed a sad smile seeing Bucky in uniform. Bucky noticed Steve's look, noticed he turned around to see the girl standing there, she stared at him and her sad smile didn't fade as his eyes went solemn.
"So, going to have to hold off that wedding, aren't we?" Her voice cracked, she placed her hands on his chest and hummed as he kissed the top of her head. He wiped away a stray tear, smiling solemnly at her as she just stared at him trying to hold in her emotions, Bucky was proud of her strength and the ability to not show her visible struggle to remain happy for him.
"I'm afraid so, I'm sorry, Ro." He smiled softly, kissed her lips, and then finally pulled her into a tighter hug. Aurora had a muffled sob escape her lips, she buried her face into his chest, slightly staining his uniform with her tears and a little of her snot. She stepped away, apologising for ruining his shirt, searching her purse hurriedly for a tissue to fix the mess she made and make sure Bucky still looked ready to go whenever he had to leave. Bucky took the tissue from her hand, not giving her the chance to clean his uniform and wiped away the snot from her nose.
Aurora hiccuped as they faced each other, Aurora took a few deep breaths, not wanting to make this worse for Bucky than it may already be. Aurora stuffed the tissue back in her purse, still feeling bad for ruining his uniform but she knew that he wouldn't care about that but more for her and her feelings.
"It's okay, you're doing something for the greater good, we're gonna be okay. What are your orders?" Bucky looked back at Steve, then back at the girl who stood in front of him. He looked down at Steve's false enlistment sheet, thinking for a moment before coming back to reality to answer her.
"Sargent James Barnes, in the 107th.... shipping out to England tomorrow." Aurora felt her heart shatter, she took a deep shaky breath, trying to deny the part of her that wanted to beg him not to go. Bucky could see the war happening in her head, the conflict of the girl wanting to be able to ask him to stay but knowing that she would not allow herself to do that.
"Well, Sargent Barnes, how about the three of us get ready to see this expedition?" She smiled at Steve, wiping away a tear, trying to hold herself together to avoid breaking down again. James wrapped an arm around the girl, leading her out of the alleyway and checking in with her to make sure she was okay. Aurora wouldn't share her true feelings, wanting to cry more and more as she really thought about the situation and the more than likely possibilities of what could happen to the man she loved.
"Buck, I don't want you to go, it's so selfish of me to say this. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm sorry... I love you Bucky and I don't want to live without you. I'm scared for you, I'm scared of losing you and that's wrong of me because you're doing something that could help thousands. You make me complete. I just got you and I do not want to lose you, I'm sorry... it's so wrong of me." Aurora hiccuped through her sobs, Bucky pulled her into his chest and cradled her until she could breathe normally again. Aurora took a step back, staring at him as they both waited for Steve to catch up.
"I know Ro, I know, I'm scared too. I love you, we've got this. We're going to be okay. I promise." Aurora smiled to herself, she kissed his lips and took a step to the side as they continued on their way. Aurora learnt that Steve was sulking because he can't enlist and couldn't fight alongside Bucky. Her heart still ached, and she still felt uncomfortable with the fact of Bucky leaving, she didn't want to see him go or she wished she could go with him.
Aurora kept telling herself to not dwell on him leaving, she felt her smile continue to grow, as she thought about having their last night together and making sure it was a good one with plenty of memories to look back on. Bucky grinned as Aurora seemed more excited as she saw the grandness of the exposition, she looked at Bucky excitedly and started dragging him to the entrance. Bucky laughed as the girl stumbled slightly to get through the crowd of people, Steve stood slightly behind them, not pleased with actually doing anything and still moping like a little child. Bucky caught her as she tripped over her own feet but remained adamant about gaining a good spot to view the show.
Bucky kissed Aurora's cheek, listening to the sounds of her soft giggles as he lingered more and more with each kiss. Aurora turned to face him, throwing her arms over his shoulders and took a deep breath as he pulled her closer to kiss her lips. Bucky rested his forehead on hers, she felt safer as he kissed her lips and more relaxed knowing that Bucky understood. Bucky stared at her with adoration as she just stood next to him, he took in every detail that he could and tried to remember every single thing that he loved about her which was everything and to pay extra attention to all the little details he notices in the mornings when he was awake before her and she would just be sleeping peacefully.
Bucky was about to kiss her again, only Aurora seemed to notice something which caused her to pull away to look at the stage, Bucky let out a breath of a chuckle and pulled her into his side. He kept an arm around her waist as she shook eagerly in her skin to see what this man would present to the audience.
