Advantage
This mission almost killed Aurora, it was a simple routine mission, only it wasn't. Because Aurora did not have anything that could save her from being injured, she was more prone to sustaining injuries that would kill her unless treated and Hydra hadn't done a thing about it despite being the most useful member of their little squad.
Aurora was rushed to the dodgy little infirmary as soon as they made it to their base, Bucky waited patiently for her to come back from being treated. He knew that they would do something to her to make their life a little easier and that scared him.
Bucky waited in her room, waited on her bed, just the feeling of being where she lay made him more sedate and less angry for the place that he was learning more about from the girl. The battle between his own mind and Hydra's control was getting harder. Aurora did what she could to help but it wasn't enough, she was becoming more enhanced and Bucky saw the damage hard on her more and more.
Aurora limped into the room, Bucky waited for her to come to him, and she dropped onto the bed falling into Bucky's hold. He was glad to see that she wasn't dead yet, he knew that with this girl it was only a matter of time before her time came and she would be laid to rest if Hydra didn't take the proper precautions with their most valuable asset.
"I've got you." He whispered, clutching onto her, avoiding her more know injuries and looking at the delicacy she had in her eyes and touch. Bucky laid down by her side, Bucky stared into her eyes and smiled as she rested a hand on his face.
"And I've got you." She whispered, his features relaxing as she eased his mind, giving him nice thoughts and breaking down Hydra's walls. She couldn't take away the memories he had of her, she could, however, make him the man he wanted to be and he asked her to get the good memories out of the depths of his mind and easier to remember.
Bucky kissed her forehead, keeping his good arm, the one he hadn't used to harm and yet she never once feared him holding her or touching her. She never feared the mental arm, Aurora even wanted him to hold her fully, the single-arm hugs were nice but she told him it was okay if he held her in both arms, he always refused and held her with the arm that had warmth and had known how to comfort.
Aurora felt his warmth through his shirt, felt his pain as he tried to protect her, felt as he pulled her closer the fear he felt of losing her once again. She could feel his every thought, could feel his every muscle that tightened when a new scary thought appeared in his head.
The male helped her eat again, and supported her when she would struggle to move or do simple things in the shoebox they lived in. Aurora spoke to him constantly about wishing she could do what he did for her, wishing she could help him and support him. Bucky told her, just knowing that she was still breathing was enough for him, it was helping him live and continue on.
The brunette girl hummed as he drew patterns on her skin, placing a kiss here and there on her shoulder or cheek, Aurora tensed for the slightest second as she felt Bucky coyly place his metal hand around her waist and rested it on her back. The coldness was a shock but she grinned as he realised that she wasn't scared just her body wasn't used to the cold against her skin.
"I don't get how you're not scared."
"I know that no matter what happens, you would never hurt me. It doesn't scare me, stop being afraid." Bucky nodded against her, placing another kiss on her forehead, his lips curling into a smile as she placed her hand on the side of his head and showed him the fondest memory that she had seen from her past self.
Bucky walked to the familiar door that he had seen many times before, he smiled instantly as he walked into the room and saw the girl lying on the couch and swaying her feet to the music. Bucky leaned down to the girl, and placed a kiss on her forehead, she gleamed at him and positioned herself so she was on her knees and grabbed his face in her hands and kissed him.
Aurora giggled as he brought her in for a hug, Bucky picked her up bridal style, holding her close to her chest and smiled softly at the brunette in his arms.
"I love you, Ro."
"I love you more, Buck." Bucky chuckled gently, shaking his head, continuing to place kisses across her face.
"That's not possible."
"Why not?"
"Because I love you more than words can say and I love you across this world and past the moon. My love for you is infinite." Aurora kissed his lips, humming as he carefully placed her down, Aurora was kept in his arms as he stared into her eyes lovingly.
"Times were simpler I guess," Aurora whispered, smiling slightly as Bucky placed a kiss on her forehead.
"Why is it one of your favourite memories?" Bucky questioned cautiously, wanting to know why the girl liked that one more than the others.
"It was a gentle display of our affection. It's sweet and loving. Something we both need to remember in a time like this." The girl explained, wincing as Bucky pulled her up, he checked the bandage wrappings and the stitches covering her face.
Aurora smiled lightly at him as the metal hand was cautiously placed on her face. She could feel herself warming up and once he placed the cold metal hand on her face she felt cooler instantly.
"You're burning up, doll." The nickname was a shock to her, she hadn't listened to him call her that in this lifetime and hadn't listened to him give her a nickname of endearment in this lifetime.
"How do you know?"
"I can practically see the steam rolling off your face." She chuckled at his little joke, wincing as her stomach injury contracted to make it painful to laugh at his comment. Bucky kept placing his hand on other locations of her body, cooling her down again once she became accustomed to the hand on a certain part of her body.
"Don't make me laugh."
"I'm sorry, just try to sleep, hopefully, it will go away in your sleep."
"Look after me?"
"I always do."
