Chapter 9: Blocked User
Rainbow Dash's POV
I was glad that I decided to take Fluttershy with me to Sugarcube Corner. Not only did she get to see our new morning hangout, but she also got the chance to meet my closest friend, Monstarr. I was extremely excited to see my friend after such a long period of time. Now that Monstarr works at Guitar Center, that means I'll be able to hopefully receive a discount on that new acoustic Fender guitar I wanted for the past month. Even though I was pretty wealthy, I still liked to save as much money as possible to help my sister get into a good college when she's older.
Okay, okay... Let's be honest here. I'm beyond happy because Fluttershy agreed to going to the party with me! The downside to it? I have to wait until next month on the thirty first of October - and it's barely the twenty fourth of September! The wait will definitely be death of me.
After minutes of driving, I finally turned into the street where our school was located at. I kept going straight before making a left turn into the students' parking lot. Upon arriving, I looked everywhere for an empty parking space and eventually decided to park at the front row next to another motorcycle that was cherry red.
I shut off my vehicle and took off my helmet as I felt Fluttershy slowly getting off from behind me. We both stood up and placed our helmets on the seat of my motorcycle. I never really worried about them getting stolen or anything, considering the fact that only a handful of students rode motorcycles like me to school.
Fluttershy and I walked side by side at a leisurely pace towards the school entrance. Several students were walking around campus like they usually did before the bell rung. I tugged at my grey flannel nervously and looked around my surroundings. What's a good conversation starter, Dash? Think of something!
"So, Shy..." I started, capturing the attention of timid girl next to me, "What do you have for first period?"
"I have Equestrian History as my first class... What about you?" She shyly moved a few strands of hair away from her face and looked down.
"P.E. One of my favorite classes actually," I said, sounding a little cocky. I internally winced at how I sounded, and began to think that maybe Fluttershy might just leave because of how much of a stupid jock I am...
Fluttershy giggled instead, catching me by surprise just a little. "I'm not much of an athletic person... I have that class for my last period -" She gasped and covered her mouth. The girl looked pretty terrified if you ask me.
"What's wrong?" I questioned. Fluttershy bit her lower lip anxiously and looked up at me.
"I completely forgot to bring my gym clothes. Oh, gosh, the coach will be furious..." I snickered just a little bit, and patted her back reassuringly. I've known Coach Iron Will for the past three years, and he never once got pissed for not bringing gym clothes - unless of course you continuously forget to bring them.
"Nah, don't stress too much about it. He'll only get angry if you don't bring them for a few days in a row. Just bring them tomorrow. I'm sure nothing bad will happen - you should really try to stay positive about these things," I smiled at her, and she just looked away.
"You're right... I'm pretty negative about certain things, to be honest. I really appreciate you telling me that. I'm somewhat calmer about it than before, so thank you," Fluttershy said to me in a hush.
I nodded at her, and pushed open the doors of the school entrance. Once we stepped inside, the sounds of excessive chattering and laughter filled our eardrums. I had already gotten used to it all after such a long time in this high school, but I didn't know exactly how Fluttershy was holding up - especially finding out that she's pretty quiet and doesn't do well in large crowds.
After setting foot into the building, the school bell pierced straight through everyone's conversations. Most students already began walking the opposite directions to their designated area, while few lingered behind just talking amongst each other.
I looked straight forward, and eyed the massive trophy display propped up against the wall. From academic trophies, to school awards - none could top the golden trophy sitting in the center. A state trophy earned by our school's football team, The Stallions, just one year ago when I was a sophomore in this school. I turned away from the display as certain memories came crawling back...
"Hey - so what floor do you have history? I'd be happy to walk you there!" I said to Fluttershy enthusiastically. A pretty smile appeared on her face as she nodded.
"I have history with Miss Cheerilee on the second floor of the school... I hope that's not too much of a bother for you," She said to me quietly and tugged at the sleeves of her hoodie. I had recently taken note that Fluttershy seemed to be pretty insecure. Had she been bullied?
"Of course not! I'm happy to take you anywhere." And that was just the truth. For about five minutes, we just talked about random things while heading to her class. Somehow we wound up in the third floor, because of how distracted we were. For some reason, Fluttershy has that ability that no other girl was capable of having: keeping me interested, no matter the situation. And that was one of the main things I loved about her.
A couple minutes later, we arrived at her destination, and sure enough, Miss Cheerilee was standing outside the classroom door waiting for other students like she always did. Today she had on a ruffled purple top with a pink skirt that reached about an inch past her knees with black heels. Her lavender colored wavy hair was hung loose down to the center of her back. Her olive green eyes skimmed through the crowd, and soon enough they landed on us. I could already feel Fluttershy tensing up beside me.
"Oh, good morning Fluttershy!" She greeted the girl beside me then looked over at me with a stern look on her face, "And hello to you, Rainbow." I couldn't help but snicker a little. Cheerilee never really liked me since I rarely did my schoolwork when I was in her class last school year - and to make things more fun, I have her this year for seventh period.
"Mornin' Cheerilee. You look nice today," The teacher rolled her eyes and ushered Fluttershy to walk inside. We both said our good-bye's and as I was about to walk away, Miss Cheerilee cleared her throat loud enough for me to hear. Reluctantly, I spun around to meet my teacher once more. "Yes?"
"Nothing really... But I want to make one thing clear! Please do not pass on your habits to Fluttershy. She's doing splendid in her classes so far, and it'd be a shame if you were to influence her into not doing her work," Miss Cheerilee said to me with concern. Although I felt slightly offended by what she had just said, I knew what she was saying was true. I often had that habit of pulling others into my direction at times. The last thing I want is for Flutters to fail her classes because of me. "And I also do hope you finished your essay on Star Swirl the Bearded... You know - the one that was due a week ago?"
"Yeah, yeah. I got it done last night. I'm sure you'll love my report on Star Swirl the Boredom." I grinned at her, and she simply sighed and muttered a few things to herself before returning inside her classroom. Honestly I felt kind of bad for treating her this way, but I can't help myself. I just hope none of my behavior rubs off on Fluttershy...
I pulled out my iPhone 5 and popped in my earphones as I hit the play button on Pandora. For a few seconds, there was complete silence before a soothing guitar riff filled my eardrums. I looked down at the screen of my phone and glanced at the song and artist - Actors by All Time Low.
Smiling to myself, I started walking out of the hallway, pushing through the newly crowded halls to get to my first period class which was Physical Education with Coach Iron Will. I walked towards the staircase, and began to mentally sing along with the lyrics that were being sung by the singer himself as I walked to get to the Sky Floor.
Along the way I thought about Fluttershy non-stop. I was probably smiling a total fool at the moment, but that didn't seem to matter anymore when an angel was visibly beaming at me in my mind.
I had finally arrived at the Sky Floor and sure enough saw Spitfire and Fleetfoot sitting up at the top of the bleachers with phones in their hands. After pulling off my earphones and draping them around my neck, I ran up the bleachers towards them without missing a single step in front of me.
"Aaaaaand look who finally showed up," Spitfire said, nudging Fleetfoot with her elbow. The girl furrowed her brow at Spitfire and looked up to see me. Her long blue-silver hair was pushed back as usual but this time she sported a blue bandana with the school logo printed on the front. Today, she wore her favorite letterman jacket over a black V-neck, with a pair of grey skinny jeans and black high tops with white laces. She pulled off her light purple shades and raised an eyebrow at me.
"So... You and the new girl a thing now or what?" Fleetfoot questioned with a devious smirk on her face. I felt my cheeks heat up slightly as I took a seat beside her. Even though I was no longer looking at her, I could still feel her and Spitfire's stares boring into me.
"N-No! Fluttershy and I are -"
"Just friends?" Fleetfoot finished for me with a smile. This girl just loved teasing me it seemed... "C'mon, Dash! I saw you and her walking together this morning, and I think you two would make a great couple, and by the looks of it, I can already tell that you've already grown a little attached to her -"
"I'm on Fleet's side on this one. Sorry, Dash - but I think you and Fluttershy would be a perfect couple. I mean... You two are total opposites, but hey! Opposites attract, don't you think?" Spitfire and Fleetfoot both burst into a fit of girlish giggles and here I was blushing like mad. I pushed my multicolored hair back and looked away from the duo.
"I really hate you guys. Hope you know that." I said in a slightly annoyed tone.
"We love you too," Fleetfoot responded, playfully punching my arm. Afterwards, her and Spitfire began to talk about Fluttershy and I, and I have to admit... I actually liked it. The idea itself that Flutters and I would be a nice couple was a very lovely thought indeed. Maybe someday I'll ask her out on a few dates, and then maybe ask her if she would like to be my girlfriend. Just thinking about it sent butterflies to fly just about everywhere inside of me.
"Heh... Plus didn't you take her home the night of the party?" Spitfire asked me, still not dropping the subject whatsoever. Fleetfoot's jaw dropped, most likely getting the TOTALLY wrong idea.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa... Dash - is that true?" Fleet questioned with a smile noticeable in her voice. I quickly turned my focus towards them and I swear I could not stop blushing.
"No! I mean... Yes, it is true! But we didn't do anything! I just, you know... Gave her a ride home and just dropped her off. It's not like that!" I stammered out and felt like a such an idiot. I never seem to get a break from these two clowns.
"Is that why your face is red?" Spitfire replied and smirked at me. Fleetfoot and Spitfire both broke out into an uncontrollable laugh as I just sat feeling beyond frustrated with these two girls. I brought my hand up to my face and felt how hot my cheeks were. Dash, stop freaking blushing!
"Relax, Rainbow. We're just teasing ya... We'll stay out of your relationship if that's what you want," Spitfire said, and before I could even continue protesting with her she cut me off. "Anyways - how's your little sister's relationship going? They still together or what?" At least she quit the other topic...
"Scootaloo and Apple Bloom are doing great, and yes, they are still together." I said to her calmly while looking down at my shoes. I brought up my feet and rested them above the other seat in front of me casually and began playing with my fingers. Fleetfoot whistled slowly, and I knew she was thinking the same thing as Spitfire and I.
My little sister was a couple with Applejack's little sister and were both the same age and grade level. What was shocking about the whole relationship was that they've been dating since they were in year seven. How they are still together after two years was beyond me! Hell... My own little sister was in a longer lasting relationship than I ever was. But who am I to judge? I personally think they're absolutely adorable together no matter what.
"That's impressive... I remember when our junior high relationships only lasted a month," Fleetfoot stated. We all agreed on that statement and laughed about it for a few minutes. Oh, how foolish we all were to have wasted our first kiss on some people who never truly cared about us... Now that I really thought about it... Had Fluttershy kissed someone in the past or not?
I guess I'll never really know for sure. Asking her that would most likely count as being disrespectful, and she'll probably think that I'll make fun of her for it. My train of thought was soon interrupted when Fleetfoot elbowed me gently. I looked up at her and saw a disapproving look on her face as she seemed focused on something or someone who just entered the gymnasium. I looked over to the direction was staring and sure enough saw the three familiar triplets walking in from the entrance.
"I can't believe those things are allowed to walk among Equestria after all the crap they pulled on everybody before," Fleetfoot said harshly. Spitfire and I looked at how bitter Fleet was being about those girls. She never really liked them because of the rumors they spread about everyone in the school. But she seriously needs to let it go just like most of us have.
The triplets consisted of the clueless one, the one who just didn't give a damn about anything or anyone, and the leader of the group who strived to be the Queen Bee in this school. Because of their actions, looks like she'll never accomplish that goal. Ever. Their group was called 'The Dazzlings', referring to their last names.
The group of teens began ascending the bleachers and once they got to the very top, they proceeded to walk towards us. I didn't hold a slight grudge toward any of them, despite what they said about me and my friends. The point is, they apologized publicly on stage in front of everyone and we forgave them for their actions. After a few seconds, they stood in front of us with arms crossed.
"Hi guys!" Sonata Dusk greeted us in her usual happy and naïve self. I didn't have much of a problem with Sonata. If anything, she was one of the nicest of the group. Her highlighted aqua and navy blue hair flowed down to her back like a waterfall and her magenta eyes were glittering with happiness. She wore a slightly baggy magenta pullover with black denim shorts that were ripped from the front. She had on purple Vans and was carrying her brown book bag in her left hand.
"Yeah, hey." Aria Blaze said to no one in particular and looked like she wanted to be anywhere but here. Her amethyst eyes met mine, and she quickly turned away and looked down. Her purple and green hair was parted in the middle and was up into long pigtails that had white ribbons tied around them. She had on a tight, plain lime colored top underneath a denim green vest that looked as if the sleeves were torn straight off. Her skin-tight black skinny jeans and maroon Doc Martens went well with her whole outfit. If I had to be brutally honest with you, I honestly found Aria to be the most attractive from the group.
"Hello, girls." Adagio Dazzle, the third and last girl, spoke up to all of us sounding a bit tense. Her golden and yellow colored hair was curly and puffy to perfection. Adagio sported a white '5 Seconds of Summer' tank top and a pair blue denim shorts with black tights. She had on her usual pair of worn out blue high tops, and in addition to that she wore a black choker necklace with a bright red ruby as a pendant, just like the other two girls.
I felt Fleetfoot shift uncomfortably beside me and I could already tell she was quickly getting agitated because of the Dazzlings' presence. Spitfire shuffled nervously in her seat and cleared her throat, "Um... What do you guys need?" The moment the question itself was asked, Adagio's gaze fell upon me. Uh-oh...
"Oh, nothing really... We just need to have a word with Rainbow Dash, if you girls don't mind," Adagio responded with a clear concerned look on her face. She bit her lip anxiously, and gestured for me to walk with her and the group.
"Oh, uh, yeah, I don't mind." I looked over at Spitfire and Fleet and saw looks of confusion and anger on their faces. My attention focused on the trio in front of me once again as I stood up. About a minute later, the four of us were walking down the bleachers and into the girls' locker rooms. Soon enough we were walking to the roof of the school where I always raced against Spitfire. Plenty of my other classmates were simply walking beside each other on the track, while most of the guys were playing football.
I followed Adagio, Sonata, and Aria to the very edge of the roof which was being guarded by a fence for safety precautions. Blue benches were lined up near the fence where we soon sat down at. I took a seat in the middle of the bench while the sisters sat down beside me, with Aria being on my right and Adagio being on my left.
"Soooo... What was so important that you had to drag me out here?" I didn't realize how harsh that sounded until it was too late. I was about to apologize for it before Adagio held a hand up, gesturing for me not to speak. I swallowed hard and stared at her with anxiety coursing right through my veins.
"It's all right... I know you didn't mean to sound that way..." Adagio began, and I immediately felt awful. She looked down for a moment before returning her gaze at me again. Her magenta eyes held a spark of fear in them. Why was she feeling this way? Was someone picking on her?
"Is someone saying bad crap about you guys? What's going on?" I asked shakily. Adagio exchanged looks with her two sisters then sighed. She pulled out her Galaxy S4, tapped a few things then handed the device to me. I carefully took it then saw that it was a post from Equestria Daily, a social networking site for several people. The post consisted of a few pictures taken from the party last night, and in the background in one of the photos was of me walking and smiling with Fluttershy. "Okay...? It's just me and the new girl in the picture. So what?"
Adagio took her phone, and scrolled through a few things before handing it back to me. What I saw was a conversation she was having with someone she must have blocked, since the person's name read "Blocked User" and their profile picture wasn't being shown either. I looked through the messages and they sounded pretty threatening... But not towards Adagio or her siblings... But to me.
"'Keep that new girl away from Rainbow Dash, or else I won't hesitate to do something a thousand times worse than what you said about me'... Who is this person?" I questioned Adagio and suddenly felt a bit terrified.
Adagio nervously looked over at Aria and let out a deep sigh. What she said to me made my heart stop almost at once.
"Gilda."
Quick A/N: Well... Looks like there's some new drama going on now! What exactly is Gilda going to do Rainbow Dash? More importantly... What's she going to do to Flutters?
Also, in case you didn't notice, "Equestria Daily" is a kind of Facebook for this story xD but in real life it's an actual app that keeps you updated on everything My Little Pony.
Thank you all for reading and I'll see you next time c:
-Alex, over and out.
